great vacation

Will be back to the Royal Decameron, loved it...great atmosphere, people who work there are awesome. Fun entertainment every night. Our room had a great view. Food was very good, and lots of variety. Drinks even better! Went with my husband and another couple and we all had a really great time. Not many kids, mainly an adult crowd. Within walking distance to many shops and Margaritaville-go there when cruise ships in its fun....So cant wait to visit the RDC again...

Get what you pay for

Was traveling with a group of friends and we decided to go to a lower priced resort. Although the room was clean and the staff was courteous the resort failed us. The food at the buffet was horrible. If you like little meat with bone, and the same tasting entrees (no matter what it was) over and over again this is for you. One morning they had run out of orange juice and the remaining fruit juices where so watered down it was hard to tell what they started out as. The bar ran out of beer three different days, rum creme on two occaisions, and milk on one occaision. Like I said, the room was clean, the staff was nice, but overall it was a dissapointment staying at the Royal Decameron.

A cheap hotel with good location and middle standards

It is located not so far from Montego Bay downtows and near to shops, the airport and restaurants. The beach is not an asset but it has good facilities to enjoy the Caribbean sunlight and do some water sports. The restaurant is not the best, I havenīt visited the formal one. If you are looking a budget place near the airport and safe, this is the place.

Would go back

I was a bit taken back by the hotel room once in it. The airconditioning unit was rusted and falling apart and there is minimal water pressure. We arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon and lunch was done being served and we could not get anything to eat at that point. Staff, well the dining area and entertainment staff were great and loads of fun. The front desk staff and the wait staff at the grill by the pools were the most unpleasant people I have come across...but again the general wait staff was great. The main facilites of the resort was very nice. View was outstanding. BEWARE....you really need to take a Taxi if you go into Downtown....there are men who will say..."don’t you remember me I am from the resort" and they will lead you into the shady, dangerous part of town.

Love this hotel

This was our ninth time staying at this resort. I was a little disappointed with the food this year. They usually have a different menu every night in the buffet restaurant. This year they had Jamaica night twice and Caribbean night once (which was almost exactly the same as Jamaica night) I have always loved their Italian night but they didn’t have it at all this year. Otherwise, I have always been more that pleased with this resort. It is very clean, the staff is very courtious and ALL rooms have a great view of the ocean.

You must see Dunn’s River Falls and the zip line thru the jungle canopy is a good outing. And of course you need to go to Margarietaville-just to say you were there.

I don’t plan on staying any where but there.

The staff was very helpful and went above the call of duty. As for the surrounding neighborhood, I can’t really speak on. I was only there for one day and two nights. Yet, from that I time I can say I was satisfied.

After going to Jamaica 8 times in 2 years....I found home.

LOVED this resort. Food was very good. Service was MUCH better than what I got at the Riu or Hilton Rose Hall. Staff was VERY friendly and went out their way to make us happy. I loved the sofa cushion/couches to lay on along the water. I am definitely going to stay here again! Location was great...along hip strip. Was able to walk at night and felt safe. Loved it!

Fantastic service.

From the moment you arrive the staff dotes on you. All of the staff members smile, greet you and go out of their way to make sure your trip is excellent. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The TV and air conditioning worked great and carried many usul channels. All rooms are oceanview, so there is no bad room view. The food is good with a wide variety to choose from. The gift shop located on-site had a great selection. There is hair braiding and massage on site. The airport is less than 5 minutes away and the strip is directly outside the gates. I loved this hotel and the service we received and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel staff can tell you where local happenings are as well as arrange for transportation. Always rely on the staff for tips on where to go and not go.

I would stay there again.

The rooms were cleaned everyday. The floors were all hardwood. No carpet. Air condition worked well. The food was great to me. It was cool trying different types of foods at the ala carte restaurant, but if you are not up to trying new foods, the grill was a good alternate. I think that the grill should be open during dinner time, for the people that are not open to trying new foods. The games at the hotel did not always start on time, but the shows did and they were good. It was so convenient to get taxis being they could call one for you and it would be there in less than 5 minutes. I loved listening to the music at the bar by the pool. The staff was friendly and helpful.Sitting by the ocean, listening to the waves, and watching to sunset was so relaxing. And there really were no worries. Didn’t have to worry about how to get around, what to do, what to eat. When I go back, I would stay at this resort again.

Just remember, there is no way you can buy something from every single person at every single shop. You will have people back to back asking you to buy something from their shop and you will have to respectfully say no. Also, remember to negotiate the price. My friend and me bought the same thing from 2 differnt shops and she paid $2-$3 less for the same product. Lots of the stores sell the same stuff.

would recommend

We had a great time there. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Only negative we experienced was the housekeeping service. They were very slow, mostly made up the room late afternoon, or not even then. During the week there was only one time they were finished with it before lunchtime. Besides this we were totally satisfied. Good, nice hotel for a reasonable price.

Do Not Recommend The Hotel

We were very dissapointed with the hotel we stayed at. At first I thought it was the way Montego Bay was, but later I thought it was the particular hotel we were at. The worst part of the trip was the lousy food we had at the buffet. There selection of food was very bad. The food at the grill also was less then tasteful. The al la carte which they had only on some of the days for dinner was the only food that was good for dinner. There breakfast would have been ok if they didn’t run out of food such as bacan every other day only 1 hours int o a 3 or 4 hour breakfast. When they ran out they would say it was all gone and did not make any more. The same thing happened with foods such as jellys, one pan and then you were out of luck. If burnt chicken and burnt pork is there idea of a good dish, I need to be eating food somewhere else. The staff at the front desk were awful. We spent several hours in the front lobby waiting for our room on a very hot day. We had no briefing on what we could be doing from anyone and when I ask them, they said this information is in the room. That was fine if we had a room. The TV’s in the room went out several times. The remote control only worked up to about 5 feet from the TV ao would not work in t he bed. They did not wake us up one morning when we had a wake up call. Most of the staff working in the Resturants gave good service. The swimming pools were small and the main one with the bar, usually had volley balls coming at you. .

Fine, not amazing

The hotel was fine. Nothing incredible. The room was cleaned well, but could have used some maintenance. Food was fine, but did get old quick. It was a great price, but I’d probably spend a little more next time to go somewhere else.

Everything we wanted for our vacation!

This was our third visit to Jamaica and our first at Royal Decameron. The Decameron became our favorite! The hotel was lovely, rooms clean and spacious, the views spectacular, and the staff exceptional. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment and because we enjoy trying new things and island flavors we really liked the food - fresh and delicious. Snorkeling was great but bring your own mask and snorkel. It’s worth it. Also, we usually visit earlier in the summer and this was our first time visiting in August. The evenings were much hotter and as both restaurants are open air it sometimes was uncomfortable dining in such warm weather. But overall I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. My family and I had the BEST time,no worries, relaxation,and fun. Don’t forget to tip! The staff goes out of their way to take care of everyone and they work hard so show a little appreciation!

Can’t wait to go back

This was our first time in Jamaica, and I was very happy with our choice of where to stay. Yes, of course the food was not perfect, it never is at an all-inclusive, and the pillows were very very hard, but the staff and the entertainment made up for everything. The only true issue we had was the air-conditioner was leaking and it took three days to fix it correctly, but as annoying as it was at the time, it truly was no big deal. I can not wait to go back, me and my sister-inlaw are going before the end of the year. The location of this hotel is awsome, being right on the hip strip and feeling very safe is worth the stay.

Make sure your MAC card works out of the country before you leave. I was so disapointed I was unable to obtain any cash to shop more from the locals.

I wouldn’t be staying here again

I chose this hotel based on all the reviews I read and was really disappointed. At check-in we were told they didnt have an ocean view room available, we would be given another room and the following day we would have to check out at noon and check back in at 2:30. The room they gave us was in horrible shape. We decided to take a walk off the property and big mistake. Immediately leaving the property we were bombarded with people: hair braiding, taxi drivers, folks selling drugs etc. The next day, we checked out and hit the beach grill for lunch. The burgers were inedible, there was a dead bee in my soda and on top of that, we got hit with a t-storm. Since we didnt have a room, we had to wait it out in the lobby. When we did finally get our room the water didnt work. My husband went to the front desk and was told it was the whole hotel and that it would be fixed in a couple of hours. Other guests told us this happens just about everyday along with the power going out. Service in the main dining room is terrible. I have been to several islands and completely understand island time. The servers only have to provide utensils and drinks. Lets just say, Im still waiting for my coffee. Definitely bring your own pillow, Im glad I did. The pillows felt like bricks. One last thing, you are right by the airport and though its not really bothersome (you get used to it) planes are going in and out all day.

Dunn’s River Falls is a must. Definitely worth the 2 hour drive it takes to get there. Don’t waste your money on the DVD, so now worth it. We tried another trip out the to Hip Strip later in week. We went at about 10am and it was MUCH better.

Started off disappointing

After 8hrs of travel time, we got to this hotel at 2:15pm and they would not let us check in. We along with other vistitor had to sit in the lobby with all our luggage for a 45 mins. No one from the hotel didn’t as much as offer us a glass of water. We were hot, tired and frustrated and no one who worked at the hotel seemed to care. Although the customer service was horrible, things got better once we were settled in.

The Negril and Sunset beach tour was very nice. The Bob Marley Reggae culture tour was also very much worth the money.

excelent choice - great snorkel

The hotel is nice, well located, and very clean. you can walk during the day and during the night safe in the streets. The small beaches are great and really close (30 ft) from a coral reef full of sea life. The snorkelling is a must the swiming pool is small, too small but we hadn’t use it. the food and drinks are ok, don’t expect nothing outstanding but every was well prepare and homemade. the customer service is almost horrible as every place in jamaica, is hard to find people willing to help you with a smile. there is a nightly show, well organize and full of reggae. The seaview rooms have a great view, are big enought and extremely clean as all the hotel. I truly recommend this hotel

Good Stay

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel with a few exceptions. The front desk staff needs to be more friendly and smile more. Denton was very helpful. My room was always cleaned late in the afternoon (no earlier than or 3) which did not allow me to rest at my leisure. The dining room staff and cooks were very friendly. I really enjoyed Lomar’s friendly and funny service. The bed was squeaky and the pillows were very hard.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

Royal Decameron is a great hotel, with a friendly and accomadating staff. The beach and pool are above average. The meals are exceptional, and the entertainment crew does a good job making sure everyone has a good time. I cant wait to go back. Pick this hotel and you will not be dissapointed.

The hotel is ok

The food and service were decent. The room is Ok except there were ants in the bathroom. All the rooms have balcony and ocean view. It’s the only inclusive hotel on the hip strip.

Traveler's tip

Hire a taxi instead of joining a tour if you wnat to climb waterfall, do river tubing and zip-line. The price is comparable, but you are on your own time. He also can take you to anywhere you want. There’s a taxi stand right across form the hotel. Make sure that you ask for Bill and offer to buy him lunch.

Ya man I can’t wait to go back - Alaskan’s new spot

I was in Jamaica 07/28-08/05/09 and I could have stayed longer. The hotel was nice,clean and well maintained. Our room was over looking the beach that was great. My only complaint was checking in, you will not get into your room before 3:00 p.m,. I was super tired and we just had to wait it out. Our luggage didn’t make it to our room until after 8pm. The water pressure in the shower wasn’t strong but that was alright. The food was super good and I think I gained 5 pounds on this trip. There is no doubt I will be back next year. The locals were friendly and I loved their say "NO PROBLEM"!

Don’t shop by the hotel go into Duty Free shopping in town. We found better deals and a lot more variety.

Great employees

This was a nice hotel to stay at. The food was okay and the rooms were nice. They had a lot of activities and the employees really show you a good time.
