Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time at this resort. It was easy to walk straight to the beach. The dining choices always provided excellent service and food. My children enjoyed trying new foods!

We've been coming here for years. The property has fared well, considering its overall age. They are remodeling, which is great to see. The staff is just awesome here. They go out of their way to take care of you. The rooms are comfy, with great AC. WIFI is good. TV is a bit limited, but we brought our own and we only watch at night anyway. Beach was beautiful. We will be back.

Akumal Wellness Resort was ideal for us! We went with our family and we loved the amenities and layout of the facility, Our rooms were very nice. They offered great dining options and the food was excellent. The night time entertainment was different each evening. The beach and pools were kept very clean. The staff were very friendly and respondent to our needs. I definitely would recommend this resort to families.

We just returned from staying 5 nights at this resort and had a wonderful time! It's just the right size to feel big enough but not so big you have to walk for miles to get to another part of the resort. We stayed in building three and the rooms were very nice with beautiful ocean views. The beds are comfortable and towels and minibar were replaced daily. We chose not to have the sheets changed every day but you can if you wish. We did some excellent snorkeling off the beach in front of the main pool area and ate at all of the restaurants. My 20-year-old kids each had their favorite. I'm a vegetarian and prefer to eat gluten free and there were plenty of options in the buffet and one or two choices in the restaurants. They would bring GF bread when asked and filled every request with a smile. The staff overall was really warm, friendly and helpful which went a long way toward making us feel comfortable. I highly recommend the turtle talk with Alejandro! He's so passionate about turtles it's a joy to see and gave us all a new respect for the turtles in the area. We never had a problem finding a place to sit on the beach but the beds around the main pool were full most of the time. Even with one day of rain, we had a fantastic time and want to specifically thank Alejandro, Pablo, Oliver and all the men and women who waited on us while we were there. We would definitely return.

Pro: super nice beach for swimming in the ocean; pleasant and helpful staff. Con: Our first room was old, rundown and the "oceanfront" view was hidden behind a tree. After the first night, we asked for a new room and they happily obliged. Don't stay in bldg. 1 - it's run down. Our TV didn't work, the toilet was behind a small glass door (no privacy), and paint was falling off the walls. They moved us to a remodeled room in bldg. 3. SO MUCH BETTER. Their drinks are watered down and they use very cheap liquor. I was not impressed by the food in the main dining hall. It was hit or miss. The restaurants were hard to get into and only two were good. The maid let us completely run out of toilet paper, so we had to call for more. I was disappointed that we didn't have an abundance of authentic Mexican food. We got some off campus, and it was the best meal we had the whole trip. I would recommend this facility due to location, the beach, and the lovely staff. Food and drink were very disappointing. They say no tips are required, but this is not true. Even the staff will guide you on how and when to tip.

Amazing resort! A lot of recurring guests. From check in to check out everything was perfect. Staff is friendly and hard working. Resort has beautiful views. Every room has a view of the ocean. Lots of greenery and wildlife. Food is great and buffet has many options. A la carte restaurants are amazing and don’t need reservation. The resort is peaceful and smaller than others so you don’t have to walk far. Snorkelling is amazing and lots of fish to see including turtles. Can’t recommend this resort enough! Already planning our third visit.

I stayed at this hotel in June with my 12 year old. The hotel is very welcoming, the staff at the receptions desk, the cleaning personnel and the staff at the buffet were very friendly and helpful. All rooms face the Caribbean sea. You can see the palm tread and the blue water. Buffet has plenty of food options, be it fish, chicken, meat, a lot of different vegetables, some Mexican food, some Italian, some dishes get cooked right in front of you. The beach has plenty of lounge chair and sunshades. You can snorkel right there or walk to the nearby public beach to see turtles. There is a desk with someone who helps you to book tours. Mayan ruins in Tulum are 20 min away, Cenotes are 15 min away. There is a kids club, a mini gym, dancing lessons, water aerobics, live music every day. There is a free washer and a dryer, a small shop with essentials. We had a great time. Will stay there again.

We just returned from a week long stay at Akumal Bay Resort. My husband and I, along with another couple, booked 2 penthouse suites. Upon arrival, we were greeted by such friendly staff. As a matter of fact, everyone—cleaning staff, restaurant and bar staff, and even the lifeguards were extremely friendly and helpful. The resort and rooms were very clean and well thought out. We appreciated the small things, such as the clothesline in the shower! We ate several times at the buffet, and went to the steakhouse twice, and to the Japanese restaurant, and all were very good, with such unique menus. The lady that makes the buffet omelettes was a joy! The alcohol beverages weren’t strong at all, but were good,. There was entertainment every night, and we enjoyed just sitting in the lobby area with our friends. The beach was nice and well maintained. Did I mention that we were there during the first tropical storm/hurricane of the year? The employees were so busy pushing out water and cleaning debris, and were still so cordial and accommodating. My only complaint is that our AC did not work at all the first night we were there, and it was hot! It was working before noon on the next day. We did have power outages due to storm, so I’m sure that’s why. Our friends had major leaks in their ceiling and had to be moved. The mgmt made it right though. Then the new room flooded! Hurricanes will do that! Great experience overall and would go back! Price is right and all inclusive! Great

I've been to this property several times now and I recommend getting the penthouse suite so that you can enjoy the ocean views and a private rooftop Jacuzzi. The staff are phenomenal, the food and drinks are amazing, the offshore snorkeling provides fish, sea turtles, and rays, and the views from numerous locations throughout the property are spectacular. I love this place and hope to keep going back.

Hello, I would just like to say, Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness resort is amazing. The beach was beautiful and clear with a lot of wild life if you love snorkelling. I had the chance to swim with sea turtles, stingrays and a variety of different fishes. The One Man Orchestra played for us on the beach and truly did a great job. Boggles my mind how a man can play so many intrustments at once. The staff is so kind and joyful. They really ensure you have an amazing time, which they exceeded. We got the penthouse room with the jacuzzi on the rooftop all rooms have a jacuzzi on their balcony). It was such a relaxing time being able to just hang out on the roof during the evening. Being able to wake up and see a beautiful beach out your window made me grateful. The food was good and being able to eat at different restaurants without making a reservation was even better. You may have to wait but the wait time was no more than 10 minutes as there’s bars right by it to kill time. Snack bar is open 24 hours so it was really convenient to get whatever you wanted late night. The buffet had different selections for dinner which helped most resorts being repetitive. The resort it was is such a relaxing feel. They had yoga and meditation which we attended and got to start a beautiful and blessed day with Aram from meditation. Bringing light to our morning so it can be the brightest day you could have. I don’t know what else to say, besides, I highly recommend Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness.

Daniella at the Buffet was AMAZING!!! She took care of everything we needed.. We had problems with electricity going out, air conditioning stoped working, got aromatherapy on pillows three days later after asking, buffet isn’t filled quickly enough they need to check what is empty. The property is beautiful and most of the staff very friendly! The beach is rocky so take water shoes, tons of seaweed but they do have crews cleaning it!
