We occupied the property for three nights for an overdue family vacation with our adult children. The location is spectacular but upkeep of the property was lacking. Upon arrival we had little to no water pressure and an extensive ant problem throughout the house.
As instructed, we contacted the caretaker, who arrived with ant spray. The Resort World Bimini maintenance men arrived on Day 2 to assess the water issue. We were told all of the faucets in the house should be replaced because of calcification and that the valve at the main line into the house from the meter was in such poor repair that it would need to be replaced. The Bimini Island Water Department arrived on Day 3 and replaced the valve at the meter and our water issues were greatly improved, albeit on the final night of our stay. Seven adults in a two bathroom house and only one faucet able to provide water at any time was very inconvenient.
The kitchen cabinets and drawers were not clean and the lower cabinets were infested with ants. We washed all pots and pans before use. There were no wine glasses, one champagne flute and six miss- matched drinking glasses.
Plenty of dishes, cooking utensils, and eating utensils.. The appliances all worked including the new grill on the porch. However, the teflon frying pan needs to be thrown out. Uncleanable.
After disappointing issues in the house, we did advise the female owner of our dissatisfaction with the property and to notify her that the Water Dept. was expected to make a repair. She shared how many homes they own and that “even Cinderella has mice in her house” while referring to our ant infestation. Hardly a consoling customer service comment.
The 2 lounge chairs in the yard/beach were broken and unusable. Miscellaneous trash was left in the yard. The front porch trim needs a paint job very badly.
There were ample towels for all and the beds were comfortable. The air conditioner worked.
Our family has been in the commercial property management business for 41 years so please do not think this is a disgruntled customer trying to get a refund. We have rented two other homes at Resort World Bimini for family trips over the past few years through VRBO and this was the only disappointing experience to date.
I hope the owners will take a trip to Bimini and visit their property.
