This is a lovely hotel. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean - cleaned every day by their wonderful team. Really good breakfast. Great location - 1 minute walk to the bus stop or 10 minute walk to the shops/restaurants. Convenient boot room for ski storage and a wonderful swimming pool. The staff cannot do enough for you - so friendly and helpful. We have stayed here 3 times now and would highly recommend The Chris-Tal.
Excellent stay at the Cris-tal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Cannot understand reviews that refer to poor welcome, it was excellent. Breakfast was very good value, had better but for price it was very good. Bar area very pleadant. Loved the location in Les Houches..
We booked the hotel as we were looking to be near beginners ski area. As it turned out we landed right on the doorstep of everything we needed. Ski and boot hire next door and beginners slope pretty much opposite the hotel with a €12 charge for use of the 2 lifts. Excellent for kids and beginners. A free bus runs every 30 mins to Chamonix which takes about 15 minutes. Hotel and staff were pleasant. Swimming pool small but nice and informal. Sauna also available but we didn’t get chance to use it unfortunately. Breakfast was pretty standard with the normal continental style available for €11. I would definitely use this hotel again if I return to the area.
One has to prepare for thw French attitude and it takes some time to convince the staff speaking English. That being said they helped me getting to my next destination since there were no taxies and were in general very kind. The rooms were older but charming with everything you need and quite large with a little balcony.

Excellent holiday but French are getting to greedy
Good location been here before in February, since then the lift passes for a family have gone up £100, drinks are £9 a beer, on the mountain burger and chips is £25, a plate of chips £12, a beer £11, got to expensive will not be coming back and other people I spoke to said the same.
Excellent holiday its a shame the French are getting to greedy.
On the TMB.... it was a great night of sleep and recooperation.

Reasonable option if you have no better choice
A reasonable, middle-of-the-road establishment with sauna and small pool. My economy single was in the basement, and the shared facilities through several doors near and in the sauna on the same level. Reception could have been warmer and more informative (but then I was not important because I had only a cheap single room).
Saw that it had a restaurant and presumed that all guests would have been catered for but not so.
Hotel lovely only the disappointment of the meal let it down.
A little dated, but still decent facilities. Wifi doesn't reach well into the rooms, so you have to be in or near the hallway to use it. They were minimally staffed for diner (one person doing a lot of work), so service was a little slow. Still a good value and well positioned for tour du mont blanc. Basically right across the bridge from the train station.
Really nice size family room with a separate bedroom. Dinner not being available until 7pm is a bit awkward when traveling with kids. Breakfast was good but a little pricey. Overall, a pleasant stay.
Great hotel. Had a room for 2 adults and 2 kids. Had 2 sleeping rooms, bathroom with bath and separate WC. Balcony. Very near to bus stop to slopes. Helpful and friendly staff
The hotel had a great view and was very nice. However, the guy at the reception desk lied to me and said that the breakfast was included, but I was then charged about 10 euros the next morning. He thought I was just a dumb American that he could rip off, but I actually understand French well.He was also shady with another group of Americans in line in front of me.
We very much enjoyed our 6 night stay here. The room was great value for money, and access to the pool and sauna was appreciated, especially after a day on the slopes. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming.
It had everything we needed, although the WiFi connection was poor at times in our room.
Very short distance to the bus stop which heads to the main ski lifts in Les Houches and also Chamonix itself.
Would definitely return!

A good short stay
We needed a 2 night stay on our way via to Geneva and were surprised to find rooms avaiable in the middle of French school holidays. The staff were friendly, the hotel was well positioned and albeit it the decor a little tired the rrroms were very comfortable.

Ski hotel that works well out of season
Nice Hotel in good location for a stopover or exploring the Mount Blanc area.
The family room we had was well equipped, may have got hot if the weather had been warmer as no air con. Pool looked good, food was tasty and well served.
We would certainly stay there again!

The hotel is cute, rooms are dated with uncomfortable beds, the kitchen is useful, the balcony has a fantastic view. Small but clean pool. A lot of traffic noise in the night. Weak wifi signal could be reached in the stairwell. The room met our needs. Overall is cute but definitely not fancy.
We only stayed one night in this hotel and would have loved to have stay longer. This was a wonderful hotel - owners and staff couldn't have been nicer. Great dinner. Lovely atmosphere despite the thunderstorm. Will definitely arrange to stay here again.
Very quaint hotel with good location accessible to all the mountains. Very clean, Great food, and very friendly waitstaff. I would book this hotel again.
Had a wonderful break in Hotel Chris-Tal. The staff could not have been better and as part of a very good half board deal we had a range of fabulous evening meals. Will definitely be back.
Good location of hotel with friendly staff helpful and arranges transport at short notice, breakfast was good, dinner was ok, could have more variety!
Room was clean and warm but bed in second room was very hard and uncomfortable.
Overall a good family hotel!
Stayed only overnight for our road trip between Italy and France but wish we had stayed longer. Very nice lodge with great restaurant fare, good breakfast buffet and decent rooms. We stayed in family room for 4 and had enough space to be comfortable. Kids loved the indoor swimming pool and game room with all the xbox games.
Stayed here a few days. Clean. Nice rooms. Not luxury but nice. Beds were very comfy even for us picky sleepers. Sauna downstairs is nice. Breakfast was good. Pool was clean. Wifi is sporadic in room but worked in hallway. Good for families. Not in the center of nightlife but really good restaurant called delish up the street. A few minutes drive from chamonix and san gervaise. Good comfy place to stay on a ski weekend. They have bus service to the mtns but it wouldve been a hike to get around without a car. Owner is very proud of his nice little place and was on site often. I could do without the taxodermy staring at me at breakfast but to each his own. I would recommend this for families and for people just looking for a nice quiet reasonably priced place to stay.
Owner/Manager extremely helpful and a delight to meet. Any issues that arose were handled In a friendly and charming manner. Restaurant service and food very good. Breakfast very good with excellent choice. We will definitely return. Handy for ski hire shop. We used our car to get to ski lift although local bus stop only a few metres from hotel close to ski hire shop. Good, free car parking at rear of hotel.
I actually got a backpacker's room which meant I had to use the shared shower near the heated pool. This wasn't a problem to me as I didn't expect to spend much time at the hotel anyways. Room was adequate and the price was very affordable. The hotel is located about 100m from the Chamonix bus stop which will bring you to all 6 mountains for free. It took me about 30 mins to get to Grands Montets. The staff was also very imformative, the hotel manager was able to answer just about every question I threw at him (and I had a lot). Free wifi in the room, xbox360 and TV in a common room. I also had dinner there one night and the price was right for a decent 3 course meal. Overall I would recommend the stay here. The room prices are cheaper than downtown Chamonix, but still allow easy access to all the mountains and downtown.
Stayed for 2 weeks skiing in the local area. The manager, Florent, is very helpful and friendly. The sauna is tremendous at the end of the day, as is the pool. The restaurant is pretty good, and not the dearest. Beers by the fire in the bar excellent. Can't fault it for the price.
As we did book this at the last moment (on our way from Milan to Geneva) not many options have been left for us. Stay was fine, although we stayed in the "basement" in order to accommodate for 4 people. Perhaps smaller rooms on the higher floors are nicer. There is a free bus (get the tourist card at the reception) going to Chamonix and back, but you need to know the schedule as they are not that frequent (this is available at the reception). Staff at the reception was helpful!
The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly. The front desk spoke english. The rooms are on the smaller side and efficient for two people and have small balconies. Bathrooms were updated and nicely tiled. The location was right in the middle of Les Houches and within easy walking distance to buses, boulangeries, and shops. My wife and I would stay there again. The area is exceptionally beautiful. The hotel is fine for European standards. They do not have room refridgerators, but I don't think refridgerators are very common. We had no problems. We didn't have a chance to use the restuarant. We had a nice, comfortable stay. The price was great.

Met our needs
Location was good, a bit further out of town than we wanted. Room was clean but basic. Food was good . Overall good value for the money.
Excellent room food, view,. The owner gave us motorcycle routes which proved to be excellent. Highly recommend this hotel. Only drawback is it was very hot and no a/c.

Perfectly adequate
This is a good hotel in a convenient location, with good facilities, but the fact that the hotel closed at 10pm was a bit of a shock to the system. Having said that I would return!
Walking the GR5 and coming through Les Houches needing somewhere to stay and take a rest day. Staff were always helpful and hotel facilities were excellent. Good value and I would recommend this hotel family, friends and fellow walkers.
A small family run hotel is a small "village" near the more famous Chamonix and Megeve. The owner is knowledgeable and very helpful. He sorted out the WiFi browser problem I had immediately. Also gave recommendations on where to rent skis, where to eat (after making sure we had dined in the hotel at least once) and gave advice on all of the questions you normally have when in a new area. Very tasty food in the restaurant at reasonable prices. Wine list is fine but then again this is France. Close to Chamonix - 15 minute drive and close to Les Bains Saint Gervais. It was a great value at our rate and excellent for spring skiing.
