This was the first trip to Saint-Jean-du-Luz for my husband and me, but we hope not our last. We loved staying at Hotel La Marisa. The hotel manager was excellent. He was there to greet us when we arrived, answer our questions, and inquire about our adventures during our stay. When we had a problem getting a cab to go to the train station on the last day, he went "above and beyond" to help us. (It would have been an easy walk if we had traveled with less luggage!) All staff members we encountered at La Marissa were pleasant, helpful, and doing their jobs well.
The exterior of the hotel is classic basque-style; the interior is modern and up-to-date, with interesting decorative objects including some antiques. Our bathroom appeared to have been recently renovated in a high quality manner following principles of universal design (i.e., just about anyone, with or without mobility problems, could use it). The location of this hotel is ideal. It is a very short walk to a central location on the beach, which is on a beautiful bay in the Atlantic Ocean. We could walk everywhere in charming Saint-Jean-du-Luz and we did.
My husband and I were so pleased that we found La Marissa and that a room was available for us!
