Just spent a week here with my wife and a couple of friends. It’s not really an ocean front property as advertised, but instead is on a tidal inlet that drains virtually completely at low tide into a mudflat.
That said, it really is a very nice location both scenically and for watching birds. The title action brings many terns,, and watching them dive for fish is very entertaining. We also saw herons on a number of occasions.
The house is OK and looks to be a prefab, functional but without much charm. The kitchen is quite small with minimal counter space and just the basics. The spice cabinet consisted of a salt shaker and the pepper container with about a teaspoon of pepper. So bring your own spices and herbs. Also the icemaker did not work, however we just bought bags of ice and stowed them in the freezer. Also, there was no bar soap in the bathrooms so be sure to bring your own along.
The three head units for the heat pump provided good air conditioning, which was needed as most of the days of our stay were in the high 80s and very humid.. The beds were fine, so I should point out that the queen bedroom downstairs was very small with barely a place to stash a suitcase.
But all in all, we enjoyed our stay here. Tremont in Bass Harbor are really lovely spots on Mount Desert Island, so the location was quite excellent. And the house fundamentally did work for us.
