"Great place for a quiet beach vacation"
We stayed in Whale and had a great time. We had a lovely balcony with a view of the beach and we could hear the waves lulling us to sleep at night. We were 30 seconds away from the beach which was great for swimming, bobbing in the waves, and relaxing.

"Excellent Spot!"
Beautiful location with private beach. Excellent room on newly built wing but the hotel needs to be better managed. Wi fi was non existent in the rooms despite numerous complaints . A dedicated spa and gym facilities are definitely needed.

"Wonderful location"
We spent a most enjoyable ten days at BWI and enjoyed the remarkable quiet location on the beach with great access to the sea and surrounding bird life. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the food was good - especially the breakfast - and our room was spacious and comfortable. The ocean view was rather limited by trees but it was a great location for some of the birds. We enjoyed a couple of excellent trips - one to Little Tobago and one to the rain forest - great for bird life. We had a car for part of the time and travelled around the northern part of the island - there was little traffic although the roads were variable in condition. The hotel suited us very well and we had no problems although it does need a little maintenance and refreshing in some areas - other guests had some issues with plumbing and air conditioning in their rooms.

"Lovely hotel and location but needs some upkeep"
This hotel was recommended to me by a friend that works in Trinidad. I had previously been to Tobago and had stayed at the Kariwak Village in Crown Point. However, they were fully booked this trip so I had to find an alternative hotel. The location and grounds of the Magdalena Grand are amazing - no other hotel on Tobago can boast of such features. The pools are lovely. Our check in was slow - and when we were given a room at 3 PM, we had to change it because it smelled strongly of mold. Changing our room took another half an hour. Our room was a superior King - clean and adequate, with a good sea view. We had a bed and breakfast option. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. Our first day, we had a buffet lunch at the restaurant downstairs; the price was ridiculously expensive. That evening we had dinner at the poolside Cafe; not only was the food delicious but also much more reasonably priced. The staff of the hotel could use some training as well as an attitude adjustment. Several of the waitresses were quite surly. We did appreciate the free hotel shuttle which took us back and forth to the lovely sandy beach of Pigeon Point. We would definitely return to this hotel, although the hotel is in dire need of maintenance and updating.

"Nice hotel on the water. Beautiful sea view."
The hotel is quite nicely laid out. It's clean and refreshing bright colours and beautifully landscaped. The staff was very friendly, and professional. However dinner was disappointing- didn't get what we ordered. Customer service could be improved. The buffet breakfast was very good. Individually, the staff was very helpful and polite. Will be back.

"OK resort with nice (but small) beach."
Not a lot to do in Tobago but is good if you want a relaxing beach holiday. Food and alcohol at restaurants and stores were more expensive than we thought they would be (many are the same or even higher price compared to Canada!). Go to the Penny Saver grocery store (short taxi ride) to save some money if you want to stock up rather than eating/drinking in restaurants or at the Coco Reef resort all the time. Food/drink at Coco Reef resort is especially expensive but the buffet breakfast was included in our package. Not a lot of all-inclusives (if any?) in Tobago. All-inclusives elsewhere are better value - we have been to a dozen or so over the years. Coco Reef resort is not large, and is apparently one of the best resorts in Tobago which tells you the island has much more work to do to become a more tourist friendly destination. The airport being so close is surprisingly not noisy at all. Coco Reef resort was able to give us an early check-in and a late check-out which was REALLY helpful to us, since we arrived very early in the morning and left late at night.

"Quiet beach resort"
The resort was very nice. This resort is also part of the Bacolet Beach Club resort so there is access to that property as well. There were 3 pools (1at half moon, 2 at BBC) and a restaurant and beach bar. The beach access is private and secluded from all other users. The hotel room was very spacious and comfortable as well. The mattress was VERY firm, a little bit too firm for myself. As well, the wood floors and walls creak a lot and so you can hear all your neighbours. We were lucky to only have neighbours a couple of the nights we were there. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with calling taxis for us to go to town. Overall, the stay was very nice and relaxing and I would consider staying there again.

"Hotel close to Bacolet Bay"
When we initially arrived we were impressed with the lobby area of the premises. The lobby areas are well maintained. After checking in and checking our the surroundings it was easy to see that the place needed some work. It is a beautiful location, if the owners would spend some capital on the premises it can be very nice. The room was cleaned and linens were changed daily. The hotel staff was excellent. My husband and I had dinner one night at the onsite restaurant, the food was excellent but the prices are ridiculously high, same applies to the bar........one beer was $21.00 local currency. Breakfast was a disappointment as we expected local cuisine not pancakes, bacon etc. Music at the beach bar or even at the hotel bar was almost none existence. One major thing is that you definitely need a car if you book at this location as the cost for taxis is very high. You can hardly find local taxis in the area.
