Very nice hotel

Posted Apr 1, 2017
Pros: Very elegant and nice facilities
Cons: Phone service.
Location: Downtown Bogota is apparently quite danagerous so i didn't venture out very much near hotel
My only two complaints was the location downtown and every time i called the front desk they didn't answer or took a long time to answer. Otherwise it was a great hotel beautiful clean and good staff.

Décor & Customer Service need an Overhaul

Posted Feb 12, 2017
Pros: The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Customer service and food quality did not match the reputation or prices charged.
I expected more from this hotel. After 3 weeks staying in various areas of Colombia and hotels of different classes, this was my least enjoyable experience. For a well-established international hotel in Colombia's capital, the staff speak very limited English and didn't offer the kind of customer service I felt I was paying for. The menus were out-dated in availability and price. The TV was slow and difficult to use and didn't have the features the instruction leaflet suggested. The food (I ordered room service) was not good. My very small glass of wine was over-priced. There were suspect-looking stains on the bed spread and the single-glazed windows did little to block out the city noise, even on the 16th floor. The language barrier and attitude of (some, not all) staff made these issues very difficult to convey/complain about and no willingness was shown to ensure I left as a happy customer. Things like the TV and room service wouldn't ordinarily be something I'd care or complain about, but at this point in my trip I was tired and fancied a relaxed night of convenience. I expected that to be easy at this hotel; it wasn't.

Nice experience, good breakfast, lovely views, central location. Only problem was the limited English spoken by staff.

Good only for Politicians, Too much security

Posted Sep 23, 2016 on Hotels
I personally didn't feel that the staff was friendly. In fact, some of them can definitely attend, Hospitality- 101. After every few steps, I had to recite my room number and sometimes, the people will not even let me in. I won't be staying again there.

Old but well maintained Hotel with good reputation

Posted Sep 12, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel is old (1953) but overall in very good condition. Hotel security made me feel very safe in a city like Bogota. They won't let you in if they don't recognize you. Room was very comfortable, the mattress was firm just the way I like it and there was a convenient mini fridge to store my own things. Closet is big enough and I didn't have to use extra storage provided by chest and nightstands. I was really impressed by the cleaning crew. Every time I entered my room it was like I was a brand new room smelling fresh and looked great. The only drawback was the noise at night that it get very annoying. Even staying at floor 11th you can hear heavy noise from the street at night to a point that I had to use my noise canceling headphones to get some sleep. During the day it's not that loud because noise is muffled by multiple sound sources from the street. I believe lower floors must have some kind of sound proof setup. The location is very central about half way from everything and at walking distance to mass transportation. At night, around the hotel there are security guards everywhere and you can walk to a 24/7 to buy basic goods. Taxis are safe and easily available at the front of the Hotel and even Uber is widely available. The free breakfast is abundant and always fresh, the only inconvenience is that you cannot go with short pants unless is a weekend. Overall I was happy about my choice and I will pick this hotel again in the future.
