This is a wonderful hotel. The staff is very kind and helpful and clearly want to make our stay an exceptional experience. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The beds are very comfortable. The kind woman at the front desk recommended restaurants near by and was very patient with our poor attempts at the French language.

Great price Great room
Great location. Close to the train station and car rentals. Room was modern and very clean. Very comfortable bed and wonderful shower. Breakfast was excellent.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Their English really helped me when necessary, but they also allowed me to try my French. The location near the train station and rental cars was perfect! The breakfast (not included) was abundant and delicious.

Just enough for me!
Just enough for me, quaint. No renovations going on during Christmas, so it was quiet all around. Breakfast was take away (bread, pieces of fruit, OJ, coffee, no meat!). Heating works great, wifi and hot hot water a plus. Location is perfect, minus from train station, car rental places, etc.

Tiny shoebox room, claustrophobic. Renovations going on, parking not possible. Loud construction sounds, felt like the ceiling was coming down. Soap rack in the shower came off.

Clean, good location/room size, disaster breakfast
Good location, clean and for a family of 4, good size room. The reason for a low rating is down to the breakfast, which was a huge let-down. Stale mini croissants/bread with a piece of butter, an apple, a madeleine, an apple compote pot in a brown paperbag don’t really quantify as breakfast. Perhaps the hotel should give guests some warnings about the “new” arrangement so guests can make an informed decisions. Wasted over €30 for an inedible breakfast.

Solo Visitor to D-Day sites
Excellent location close to train station, bike shops, rental car, and festival area around marina. Friendly and helpful staff. Great base for visiting D-Day beaches. I rented a bike one day from Bikeables to ride 9miles trail along Caen Canal to Ouisterheim and back. Then visited remaining historical spots next day by renting car right down the block from this hotel.

A very nice hotel, at walking distance from the train and bus stations and a lot of visiting places and restaurants. The staff are so nice, friendly , helpful they make you feel you're at home. If i ever go back to Caen again i would not stay but in this lovely hotel.

my worst time was at the agaudo hotel in Dieppe. no A/C, worst Wifi connection possible and most of the staff could'nt speak English. My BEST time was in Caen at the Hotel de France. The conceirge, whose name was Fabian was by far the most helpful and courteous man I have ever met. He would go out of his way to ensure ALL your needs were seen to. He speaks English, Spanish and French and I think his talents should be upgraded into the managerial stage.

Room 503. Great location: walking distance to the train station and city centre, but just off the beaten path to avoid late night bar scene noise. Clean, comfortable, and with a pleasant staff. FYI, it is dark around the immediate area (no streetlights) but i didn't feel unsafe walking back. There is ongoing construction to complete a new tram line, but the noise was well muted during the day and stops by nightfall. Will seek out INTER-HOTELS in the future.

The hotel is walking distance to the Caen bus/train station. Also to the local restaurants and shopping. The staff was always so accommodating. We had their continental breakfast for about 7 euros each, cant beat that! This a no frills hotel. It’s simple, but very clean and it took care of our needs.

Clean smart place, right in the centre of town, rooms are basic but comfortable and the breakfast are also basic but filling. Great for an overnight stay close to the ferry, but wouldn’t stay a week, a bit like a premier inn.

So many helpful things: highly recommend
I was there for one night with my brother and sister; we speak only English, and the staff were very accommodating and easy to communicate with. We appreciated the reasonable rate, that a 3-bed room was available, that it was very clean and comfortable, that it was a 6-minute walk from the train station and that we were able to check in and drop off our luggage before 9 s.m. Also, the attendants were very helpful notifying us of discounts to the Memorial museum, advising us on transportation options and even scheduling a taxi for us. They also allowed us to leave our luggage there after checkout and return for it later that afternoon. Very impressed, would recommend highly.

Great value, convenient to train.
Overall a great value hotel with convenient access to the train. Cons: The room was quite small even for France and the surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired. It’s a little far from the old town restaurants. Pros: the staff is outstanding. Friendly and helpful. The bedding was super comfy with extra pillows in the closet and plenty of room for toiletries in the bathroom. Coffee in room. Did not eat breakfast but it looked good and is a relative bargain at 9.50 Euro. Pro tip: you can have a croissant and coffee at the train station for around 3 Euro. If taking an early morning train, you could do a lot worse, but if you really like finer amenities and better surroundings, you may prefer somewhere else.
