“I stayed at the Canadian Inn towards the end of a six-week-long road trip, and am glad I did. The Canadian was a welcome break from cookie-cutter hotels and motels that begin to fall apart as soon as they are completed. The Canadian was built sixty years ago, and will be around for sixty more. The couple who recently bought it are fixing it up after years of mismanagement. Stay away if scratches on furniture or rust stains under a bathtub spigot irk you. Come if you appreciate windows that open,……
“The clerk said the property had been recently purchased and will be renovated. It has potential to be good, but is currently sub-par. Our room seemed superficially clean, but the carpet felt sticky to walk on barefoot. Flies came in through the door and were elusive to dispose of. The wi-fi was spotty. There were no written instructions about how to use the too-small TV or coffeemaker. The glass plate in the microwave did not turn while heating. The furniture was worn and the room……
“Old bed spread was not washed and with what looked like frosting or toothpaste on it. Noisy from the highway and people stomping on the second floor walkway in front of the room. Remote control didn’t work and had to go get new batteries from the office. It is convenient and easy to find.”
