room for improvement.

Posted Sep 30, 2015
Pros: Price
Cons: As outlined above
This hotel is not expensive, but a couple of little things would make it even better. Open the windows and let some fresh air in, also wifi did not work for me. One member of day reception could try to be just a little friendly, does not cost anything.

Nice hotel for the price

Posted Sep 15, 2015
Pros: The price
Cons: A/C & heating unit was very aged.
Location: Very close to UVA & plenty of restaurants nearby.
Check-in was nice; room was clean; breakfast just ok; but all-in-all, what I expected for the price.

Good central location.

Pros: The proximity of this hotel to town and UVA is great.
Cons: The front desk area is quite small. It can get pretty crowded when they serve breakfast.
Location: The location is great.
Many of the rooms at this hotel are smoking rooms. I had one at a previous stay, and you could tell it was a smoking room. I did have a non-smoking room this time, and the room was much better. If you stay at this hotel, I would suggest a non-smoking room.

Budget friendly.

We go yo Charlottesville to visit my daughter's family so sleep and shower is all we care about. It would be nice to stay in a non pet room as my husband has allergies to animals.

It stinks

It smelled. Had an inside hallway that was dark and smelly, too. Old worn furniture.

SORELY in need of upkeep, updating, and repair.

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Sadly, nothing. Avoid this place and spend the extra money on one of several nicer hotels close by.
Cons: Pretty much everything. This was a poor experience, from start to finish. The staff definitely knows about these problems, yet they persist.
Some issues that presented themselves during a two day stay: - Almost all of the furniture was damaged. A desk leg was snapped inwards, the desk chair had rips in the leather, another chair had obvious damage to its frame, drawers were left sagging and open because they physically could not be shut, both queen sized beds had damage to their box frames, leaving annoying and obvious sags in the mattresses. One has to wonder about exactly what goes on in this room. - Burned out and non-matching light bulbs, producing dim/uneven lighting. The main light fixture over the bed was bent and twisted. - The shower curtain was too small for the shower and had obviously been torn from trying to stretch it to fit. The shower curtain rail was rusted and sagging on its wall mounts. Towel racks were flimsily attached to the wall. - The toilet ran very loudly at first, then overflowed from the tank while I was out one evening, completely covering the bathroom floor in water. - I discovered a large wet spot on the carpet and visible puddles of some kind of liquid on the top of the nightstand. - In spite of being a smoke free establishment, the entire hotel smelled very strongly of smoke and mildew/mold, especially in the hallways. - Hotel staff was OK, if apathetic. When informed about the toilet running over, the desk employee flatly told me to close the main valve to the water tank and offered some towels and a trash bag for clean up. Felt like this wasn't the first time this had happened.

You get what you paid for.

The pillow cases had hair on them, the chairs inside the room had holes and the walls needed to be renovated.
