We followed him for 30 min as he wandered through fields and tussock, harassed the entire time by a troop of baboons. Mombo Camp is one of southern Africa's premier safari camps, located on Chief's Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The concentration of wildlife is incredible - in the course of two days we saw cheetah, leopard, lion, buffalo, hyena, jackal, herds of elephants and much, much more. The entire camp rests on pilings 6ft (2m) off the ground and overlooks a usually active floodplain. Tents are connected via boardwalks, but don't attempt to walk them alone - the camp provides armed guards to ensure your safety. Meals here are fantastic, and each tent features a thatched roof, indoor and outdoor showers, a plunge pool and a terrace. One night we even had a herd of buffalo rumble by underneath our cabin!
