Be aware

Pros: Location.
Cons: Attitude
Location: Very near Koln central station.
Terrible service by the owner. I ordered non smoking, and received smoking room for 4 nights. He said it is only when vacancy, but offered non smoking room with extra 70% to the amount I paid. Room small, dirty, smelly, towel is hard like a rock, TV is poor in quality and variety, no shampoo, poor shared shower. The only plus is the location, but there are many other hotels there. Pay more, but enjoy... I don't recommend this hotel, even if the price is tempting.

Sir, you only forgot to write, that you booked a single room with shared bathroom and the much more expensive room I offered you was a double room with shower/WC ensuite. And this room type is more expensive than the room type you booked. And the size of the rooms is noted at Expedia and the room you got is shown on one of the pictures at Expedia.

Good Budget Hotel

Pros: In a quiet location, very close to the heart of Cologne, with friendly, helpful staff and a nice but simple breakfast.
Cons: Note, there is no lift so a room on the top floor (3rd) can be a bit of a struggle after a long day sight seeing.
Location: The Dom (Cathedral), Hohenzollern Bridge, Wallraf Museum, Biersalons in the Old Town, walks down by the Rhine with numerous good restaurants

Disappointing!!!!

Pros: The silence and the location.
Cons: It has to get cleaned and renovated.
Location: It is close to the cathedral and the central station.
I arrived at the hotel at night. I didn't noticed on Expedia that the hotel didn't include taxes in the fee. So, I was unhappy about that. It was not the end of story. I opened the door of my room at the 3rd floor. It was like an oven hot. I opened the window to get rid of the hot temperature of the room, and I saw an emergency staircase to the window. I was worried all the night that somebody would enter the room from the staircase. Anyway, the bathroom and the toilet were combined in a single small room like 2x2 meters. It was not clean. It was old and dingy. I posted the Check-in feedback to Expedia, at night. In the morning, I checked out, where another guy was in the reception. He had read my feedback and condemned me. He yelled at me, and I was really scared. I would never send a negative feedback during my stay at a hotel. I will never never never get back to this hotel!!!! I have stayed at three hotels during my trip, I posted positive feedbacks for others. I say what I see. I don't lie. If somebody doesn't like my review, they can forget it, not yelling at me.

Sir, in these days the weather was extremly warm, so all rooms were hot. And if something is happening and there is no emergency stairs which you can reach from your room, you will complain about it too. And if you book a room with shared bathroom there might be other persons using the bathroom and leaving it dirty. Do you expect in a one star hotel a 24/7 housekeeping to clean the bathrooms on the floors? You better should have booked a romm with shower/WC ensuite. I yelled to you about your feedback? I only told you what I wrote as reply to your feedback, because you didn't read my reply as you told me, and the same I'm answering here and now. Where shall I send or post the video of the security cam to show me yelling to you? (The video is with sound.)

I asked if I could have a later check out and the man said no, not possible. Ok. I was running a little behind and at 11:01 he was calling my room. I did not answer as I was packing my last items and was about to walk out. Then he comes to my door knocking. Very rude.

Owner/manager is an intense guy with major chip on his shoulder about how visitors behave. Influence his aggressive style. example is that I was refused breakfast as I had not booked it the night before, yet no-one told me I had to book it. Didn't care if I was hungry. Just basically leave the hotel without anything. No coffee/tea facilities in room, so basically go get it outside. Quite rude.

Thank you for your review. During these days there was only one customer with the problem of the not ordered breakfast, so it wasn't a problem to check the video of your check-in - and I'm sorry to inform you, that the night porter did ask you, if you like breakfast in the morning. And at Expedia no where is noted, that we offer coffee/tea facilities in the room, so you should not expect such an offer, specially because in Germany it isn't normal to have these in the hotel room, exept in 4 or 5 star hotels.

I've never been treated so bad in a hotel

The Owner of the Hotel didnt gave us a normal kind attention, he was very rude to speak, and make reference that it was his hotel and he does what he wants about music when i listen to a video i had just recorded with my phone in the cathedral. He didn't help us with a place to leave luggage, and with no explanation didn't gave us room for one day more when we ask for it. We had to look for another place in the night and leave earlier, two nights were payed but wasn't able to use. The other hotel helped us with a place to leave the luggage, thats the only thing we needed. Everyone else is kind, people in the train, everywhere in the city, but this guy had a bad mood, to bad for him. Two good things: location and it was clean.

Cheap, close to Main Rail Station

Cons: free access to the one ground floor public room
Location: Close to main rail station
Cheap but no lift (I was on third floor). Only one public room on ground floor for breakfast, but not allowed in even just to sit down unless breakfast is paid for. Breakfast has to be ordered and paid for at least one day ahead, so that, they say, the food can be bought in; however, there is no cooked food so this excuse is a bit odd.

On the website of Expedia is noted, that there is no lift in the hotel. And for the breakfast the bread rolls p.e. are ordered in the night, so we need to know how many persons will have breakfast. And on the bueffet are scrambled eggs and meatballs as warm food available.

If you can.. avoid it

Pros: 5 min walk to central station
Cons: very very run down, poor service
Location: 5 min walk to central station (don't get a day travel card, most of the things are in walking distance) inside of the stations there is restaurants
The guy at the check in desk was very grumpy and un-helpful, after checking in we asked for the wi-fi code and he said he couldn't give it to us, until after 2pm.. no further explanation. By the way there is no lift, which sucks if you have a room on the 3rd floor like we did, also take into account that there are 4 rooms sharing one tiny bathroom
