The Steigenberger could be a good property and is well located. However, our stay stared badly, when we were told the room type we had booked was not available. We were offered an upgrade from our De-lux king-bed room with Cathedral view to an executive room at the back of the hotel. When we insisted on our view, we finally got the room we booked. However, what we had not been told was that the view was impaired by two very large cranes working on the building site just in front of the hotel and by the hotel blinds which could not be opened properly and seemingly, for various reasons, could not be repaired. Furthermore, we were awoken at 07.00 am on both Friday and Sat morning by loud drilling and banging noises from the building site just in front of our window. To be fair, the hotel did agree to move us to the much quieter execituve room at the back of the hotel for our last 2 nights and offered some breakfasts as compensation for the inconvenience. However, the arranged breakfasts were not listed at the breakfast restaurant and so we had to argue with staff there and insist on what we had been promised each time we appeared. All in all, this was a disappointing stay in a hotel which offers so much promise. As stated, the location is good but we would advise against going for a cathedral view room, as we were told the construction of the rather large shopping mall in front of the hotel will continue for another 7 years - with morning starts on all days at 7am!
