Charming Restored Victorian Farmhouse and Cottage on a Large Rural lot

Historic vacation home in Como
Is owning an historic house on your wish list? Here is an opportunity to see what it is like for a few days. This gorgeous restored Victorian farmhouse, circa 1880, is available as a vacation rental in Como, NC (located in the Northeast corner of NC four miles south of the Virginia state line). The Buckhorn Baptist Church had this story-and-a-jump frame house built around 1880 to house its minister. The house’s understated decorative features include a front gable with simple ornament, diamond shaped louvered vents in the end gables of the triple-A roof and corbeled and paneled brick chimneys. Tapered posts with molded caps are featured on the front porch. The house has weatherboard siding and a front entry with sidelights. Four bedrooms and two and half baths, great room with wood stove, eat-in kitchen, laundry room, screened back porch, and patio provide our visitors with plenty of room to relax. Comfortably sleeps eight in the main house and two in the cottage. Fully equipped updated farmhouse style kitchen includes range, refrigerator, dishwasher and eat-in area for four. Large landscaped yard (surrounded by farmer s fields), provides extra parking for RVs, boats and trailers. Lovingly restored throughout. Central heat/ac, bed linens and towels provided. This is the perfect place for a romantic weekend for two, a small family reunion, a girl’s getaway or just a relaxing week away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living. For an exciting excursion, take a ride on Parkers Ferry, one of NC’s three remaining cable ferries. There are boat ramps six miles north and south of the property providing easy access to boating and good fishing. Historic Murfreesboro with its walkable historic district, restaurants and shopping is just six miles south. Franklin, Virginia is 12 miles to the north. Other nearby attractions include the Sylvan Bird Park, national parks.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this vacation home offer DVD players and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations and hair dryers.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Recent stay at Comi
The house was clean and well appointed. We will stay here again when working in the area....

A much awaited vacation spent in a historic farmhouse
It was really a much awaited trip that we were looking for to cheer up us all during this tough time. Found this property at a reasonable price and well decorated really excited us from the moment we booked. On arrival we found everything that is necessary. Kitchen was fully stocked with all required ingredients way more than we expected. We took some extra care to disinfect the surface for our kids although everything seems cleaned overall. Plenty of rooms for us to relax and enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably. No WiFi was an issue, but didn’t really impacted us as we got a good mobile signal. However not all carrier is able to cover the place with strong signal. Only downside we experienced is the cleanliness of the rugs and floors. It shows the signs of it’s age. Also the bathrooms were a bit shabby and will need a few renovation. There was small area of water sipping through the ceiling of one of the bedroom in 1st floor where the 2nd floor bathroom is. One other suggestion to make the air conditioning better on the 2nd floor is to provide some pedestal fans. But as a overall we really enjoyed our stay at this historic place and away from the hassle of the city.

Thank you
Great communication and flexibility. Was able to help us out in a bind. Thank you

Work Trip
I was working in the area and the house met my need for a place to stay but with trying to stay away from people. It was hot during my stay and the multiple air conditioning systems were not able to cool the house to a comfortable temperature. I slept downstairs and it was over 80 degrees at night trying to fall asleep. The oven took a very long time to preheat. Nice landscaping and area in the back. There was no Internet but she said she was having it put in soon.

Our stay in Como!
We had the best experience from the word go! Easy to set up and reserve, and our host was gracious and helpful! We will definitely be using VRBO again!
