I've had better hotels for cheaper.

Posted Aug 16, 2016
Pros: Nothing at all.
Cons: The entire building.
When I arrived to this hotel they had to change my room upon arrival because they had somehow booked me for a smoking room. No big deal so they changed rooms, well the room they put me in smelled so badly of mold that I couldn't even breath. Come to find out the bathroom wall had water leaking in it and had soaked into the carpets, also the chairs were broken in the room. So they changed my room again, the next room was better, except the air conditioner didn't work. I will not stay in this hotel again. The Darien Inn across the street is cheaper and a lot nicer then this place. I stay in cheap hotels most of the time when a hotel is needed, but this is probably the worst one I have stayed at in a long time. To top it off they somehow messed the bill up and required a manager to fix it who wasn't there when I checked out.

Price Great, Room Clean...what is that smell?

Posted May 23, 2016 on Hotels
The price was the best I could find. The whole hotel has an odor. I know it is near the river and marshy areas do have an odor, but this was all the time, it smelled like the marsh and like someone was giving home perms in their room, it hit you like a ton of bricks every time you entered, but the room never had the same odor, so I was okay with it. I didn't care that there was no pool, this actually helped keep people with loud kids from staying there. There was a "social hour" where they served warm cookies and then 30 minutes later they served nachos. The breakfast was your standard processed food, the picture when I booked showed some fresh fruit but I didn't see any my whole stay. The side entrance door was never locked, even if you didn't enter your keycard into the lock it would open anyway, meaning anyone could enter even people not staying there, this was concerning as that entrance cannot be seen by anyone at the front desk. The room was clean and the woman who cleaned it would leave handwritten notes, it was a special touch we enjoyed. Overall it was comfortable and clean. I would stay there again just for the price, but I wouldn't put family up there.

No-frills, Pet-friendly Stay

Posted May 16, 2016 on Hotels
Perfect if you're just looking for a quick place to rest your head at night, but wouldn't recommend if you plan on hanging out at the hotel all day. Being pet-friendly, it was a plus that I was able to travel with my dog.

Would not recommend this hotel

Posted Apr 18, 2016
Cons: Please clean the hotel.
This hotel has not been professionally cleaned in a long time. The smell in the bathroom was terrible. The smell may have been coming from the tub drain. The toilet was not properly cleaned. The carpet had not been vacuumed.

Horrible hotel

Posted Apr 17, 2016
The hotel smelled, if I hadn't already booked the reservation through Expedia I would have left. The lights in the first room did not work and the coffee pot in the second room did not work. The room smelled like disenfectant.

Bad Hotel. Should have stayed at Hotel next door!

Posted Apr 14, 2016 on Hotels
Bad service from check in staff. Unfriendly and indifferent. Hotel information stated free snacks between certain hours and breakfast in the morning. There were no snacks re-stocked within time stated. There was no staff located in the lobby at the breakfast start time and no one answered the lobby desk phone. Other hotel guests were just as puzzled as I. The hotel front door was left half opened so anyone could have come in. We had no one to contact for emergencies or any other reason. We left, went next door and told front desk staff at different hotel, about situation. She called local sheriff to check on missing staff. This place was not as advertised.

We came to Darien for the Shrimp Festival. Price was excellent and room was adaquate. We did not spend much time in the room, only to sleep. Free breakfast was free, but, left something to be desired. We are older and can not eat high fat or a lot of sugar... Enough said.

Very comfortable room and bed, breakfast could be better.
