    "Nice hotel on Bellevue Ave"
Stayed at Hotel Viking for two nights on our first trip to Newport. The hotel was clean. The lobby had plenty of sitting areas where you can enjoy free beverages such as lemonade, tea, and coffee. The staff at the desk were friendly and knowledgeable. We arrived before check in time and were able to get our room keys. The gym and pool area are open early to late which is convenient. Valet parking staff quickly manage cars coming in and out at all times. Would stay here again!

"Rough start, finished moderately strong "
Upon arriving (people everywhere, very crowded, cars having trouble finding parking, long line at check in), I was told at 330 that my room for 2 pm check in was not ready. With three kids, I had no where to go (nor our stuff nor anywhere to change to use the pool) that, Erica, the check in person eventually agreed to give us another room to use (double beds). She initially said they didn't have any rooms but that if there was one, she wouldn't be able to guarantee my original room (queen beds), and that she had no idea when my room would be ready. she did finally find one but it took half an hour to figure this out. It seemed her answer to everything was no, despite my calling in advance for 2 pm check in and my reservation for a room with queen beds. We used the pool and the room with double beds to get ready for an early dinner reservation and our room was finally ready at 530. Far cry from the 2 pm reservation. I was told our luggage would be moved by the time we got back from dinner. It wasn't. We arrived back at the hotel at 8 pm and our luggage, nor roll away I had reserved and asked for were nowhere to be seen. They both arrived 20 min later. The bell person was apologetic and helpful. From there, we had great experiences With the valets and bell people. We had breakfast in the hotel and the waitress was super. The grounds are pretty despite the hotel having a slightly outdated feel. The lighthouse is a great spot to see the sunset.

Wonderful updated room, beds were amazing, great live jazz playing in court yard (was a Friday night stay).... One tiny complaint - weak shower water pressure.

"Expected so much more for what I was paying for"
For $200 a night I expect more. Room was decent, staff was friendly and the lobby is the best looking part of the hotel. What they don't tell you is the pool area is on the 8th floor but its under construction so you there is a detour that must be taken. You can't set the AC to Manuel so its going to turn off by itsef and your going to get uncomfortable. And to get to your room prepare to swipe your room key endlessly everytime you enter the elevator. Honestly the only plus to this hotel is its connectivity to the mall and restaurants, other than that save some money and stay somewhere else. "Excellent hotel, right in the middle of the city"
Great hotel experience! Because the Spa is inside the hotel, great for weddings and girls weekends. This is a very historic hotel and I feel like that is undermined.
