Broken air conditioning unit

Pros: Location
Cons: Room cleanliness and a working air conditioning unit.
The hotel itself is decent and the location was perfect for our trip. However, the air conditioning unit in our room was not working. I placed several calls to the front desk and was advised that they would be sure to send the maintanence man to fix it once he was in. I assume he never showed up to work, because our issue was never addressed. The only thing the front desk offered was a box fan that essentially blew around the stale air of the room. Upon checking out they did take care of my valet fee for the inconvenience. However, a room upgrade, or an acutal attempt to fix the unit would've been much more appreciated. Not to mention made for a much more comfortable stay.

Average hotel terrible staff

The hotel room was clean and comfortable, so if this is your priority I would tell you to book it if you aren't looking for a a more expensive higher star option. However, the staff at this establishment were extremely unprofessional, unfriendly and incompetent. Not one person greeted my friend and I staying here every time we walked in and out. They didn't even make eye contact. One day we were waiting to be helped at the front desk to change to a king bed (booked a king bed and got a full size and paid same price!!) the woman named Chelsi was so overwhemeled speaking to someone on the phone making rude faces for them to hurry up. When she finally was able to help us she wasn't helpful at all and kept telling us to give her 10 mins, which turned into 20, to 40 to 3 hours. Finally we called her from our room to see if she switched us yet and she put us on hold then hung up the phone. When we called her back to tell her to call us when it's changed she was acting all frantic and never called us back. If you want to stay in a hotel with all incompetent employees then stay here.

It was convenient to where my son's graduation was

Pros: I liked the look of a old grand hotel.
Cons: microwave and refrigerators in the guest rooms.
The stay was nice, however, there were no amenities such as refrigerator or microwave in the rooms because they wanted you to come to their restaurant. It was not convenient late at night. Also the toilet seat was broke

Ok, except for heating/cooling

Nice hotel, friendly staff. We were extremely uncomfortable due to the air conditioning not working and the heat seemed to never go off. Had to open the window but there was no screen so anything could've came in. Those were my only qualms about my stay.

Unsatisfactory

Rooms could use some modernizing, tub stopped up while showering, restaurant prices expensive and not enough variety to choose from. Price was good for location.

Don't Stay

The front desk staff were not polite or professional when we arrived. We had no hot water in our room at all. This was clearly a party hotel. There were people yelling and running around all night and into the morning and I didn't go to bed until 1:30 am.

Decent

Didn't arrive into town until after 2:30 am. Front desk could not find my reservation by name when i called to tell them i was still coming before the 3am deadline. The expedia rep had left a letter off the end of my name.. Almost missed my room for the night

A great stay in Detroit

We had a really great experience with the building and the staff. At times, service tended to feel slow when we were in a rush, but otherwise would definitely return.
