We stayed at Mistletoe for two days and enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and the view beautiful and our meals were very tasty. Joe was extremely helpful when we asked for information and he also booked a hiking guide for us - an activity we would highly recommend.
This is a wonderful place with breathtaking mountain views and a fantastic host who was not only a great chef, but provided for every need with knowledge and compassion. The building had many interesting design and artistic features which added to the enjoyment. Hotels.com said it was 6.5 miles from Munnar. It was actually 18 kilometers from Munnar on a busy National Highway which made all of my activities very complicated. Other guests had private cars with drivers so the location was not a hassle for them.
To be honest, India was much different than my husband and I expected. We were disappointed by many of the other hotels and towns we visited... until we found Mistletoe in Munnar. It was the cleanest room/bathroom and best view of our whole trip. The homestay staff were very attentive and and the owner, Joe, helped arrange some trekking and even took us to a local toddy shop to taste some toddy (beer/cider type drink rendered from a local fruit tree). This stay was the highlight of our trip. If planning to visit Minnar, I wouldn’t stay anywhere other than Mistletoe.
It can be immediately noticed that this place has been taken care with a passion to both quality in premises and customer service. Rooms are almost spotless with a nice view over the mountains and it is relaxing enjoy their home-cooked meal while watching the scenery. Highly recommend for those who don't expect busy nightlife and action around the hotel. This is a place to relax and feel like home faraway from home.
A delightful place to stay. The views from all of the rooms are superb, and the food is very good. It is some 20km in to Munnar town but buses and tuktuks are frequent, so that is not an issue. Indeed I would not recommend staying in Munnar itself -- it is a pretty ordinary place and, whilst surrounded by hills, does not have the views and rural feel that one gets from being in the hills. Joe, the proprietor, was extremely helpful without being in the least bit pushy as regards transport or other activities. Highly recommended if you are looking for something of good quality without paying luxury end prices.
very comfortable, a very friendly and accommodating owner, best service, delicious home made food from local produce, and a very good view of the mountains.
