Checked out the Mars Cafe in Des Moines, IA. Great spot with good seating, wifi, and a pretty good latte. Nice flavor to the espresso. A good spot for a light lunch wit good sandwiches.

If I have to be in Iowa it's nice to find a good coffee joint.

“This is our second time staying here. It feels like a 5 star hotel. The details in the decor are unique and well designed. The bed and bedding is comfortable. “We enjoyed the spacious room, the eclectic decorating and comfort of the lobby and the breakfast at the Hotel Des Lux. We stayed on a quiet holiday night so would be interested to observe the hotel on a night with greater occupancy. On Locust St the right curb lane offers signage for temporary check-in parking, but to me and my car and I felt exposed to regular traffic on Locust. Could the city of Des Moines construct a bump out to more isolate that curb lane? ”

“We stay here frequently when we’re in town. Parking is easy and front desk staff is consistently excellent. Special thank you to Jen at the front desk. We stayed in room 315, on the opposite side of the section where the pool is, and it was extremely quiet. The bathroom looked like it could use a little TLC, but the room was quiet and warm and dark when we needed to sleep. In room, coffee was surprisingly good. Nice to have a breakfast as an option. We will be back! ”
