“Not the cleanist room in the world. The hotel needs some TLC”

“This hotel has no staff on site. We stayed for two nights and received no housekeeping services at all. No exchange of towels, replenishment of supplies, the bed was unmade. Nothing. The furniture was beat-up. I would have expected 1/2 the price to stay there. I do not recommend it and I would never stay there myself again.”

The room is large and spacious, clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and very helpful - plus the hotel itself is quite interesting to learn it's history and walk around viewing artifacts from the past. If you are staying in Amana, we highly recommend the Hotel Millwright, we wish all of our hotel stays were as nice as this one!!”

“Hotel was worn out. Room had stains in carpet, and mattresses were squeaky. Wood surfaces in the elevator were worn and damaged. Overall the property just looks work out and needs an update.”

“we were disappointed, read good reviews but were let down. first there were no maple cinnamon rolls, and the rest of the breakfast was meek. the room had a musky smell to it. the room had flies in it, more we swatted more should up. the floor was uneven and the floorboards seems not to be nailed down. the tub floor was cracked, and it felt like you would fall through. the whole place needs updating.”

“We stay every time we travel thru Iowa City and it never disappoints. Staff is friendly, checkin is easy, location good, rooms comfortable and clean. The happy hour in the lobby with snacks and drinks is wonderful!”

“The room was clean, getting there was another story. Outdoor garbage was overflowing, inside garbage was overflowing, there were empty beer bottles on the tables in the lobby and no one was around. The elevators were filthy, was worried what our room was going to look like. However, it was clean and cool, the bed was comfy. It is literally right next to interstate 80 so the traffic noise is real.”

“Check in set the tone. The girl was the most unfriendly hospitality worker I’ve encountered. 0 welcome. 0 communication. Checked in and discovered our door was broken and dead bolt wouldn’t latch. Back to the desk. Unfriendly worker inconvenienced by this. We left to eat and came back to see if issue resolved. Again-she is inconvenienced. Hard to find positives when this person kills the vibe.”

“Rooms were clean the bed was very comfortable. Indoor pool was very nice. Traveled with my dog and there was a really nice area for me to walk him.”

“The hotel was in need of an update, specifically the bathroom. There was no hairdryer and when I asked, none were available. I was impressed with the breakfast, though, which included eggs and sausage, toast and bagels and make your own waffle. The hotel was still not worth the $100 per night.”
