So close to everything in Durango, wonderful staff, and beautiful hotel with yummy, hot breakfast. Only wish I'd had time to use the pool/jacuzzi! Draw back was all the construction going on around the hotel and in town. Should be even better once that's over and done with.

The staff kindly let me check in and park before the room was ready. I was very happy to have a small balcony. The breakfast was lovely. I enjoy being able to walk into downtown from this hotel.

Amazing hotel, excellent service, just the first floor doesn't have privacy, it is right there to the street. Little balcony with no any fence, you feel in the front garden with not protection

Loved it! Super clean, quiet, comfy beds, pillows. Great room, pool, hot tub. Staff was friendly, offered great service! Happy hour, buffet beakfast, in historic downtown so walking to shop or eat was really nice. Excellent stay!

Parking lot was a mess. If you are a light sleeper skip thos one. Also make sure not to forget anything in your room the staff will steal it.

I can assure you our staff members do not steal guests items that were left behind. The circumstances were a little different in your case as our housekeeping staff went to lunch before informing the front desk that they recovered your jacket from your room. It was returned in an untimely manner which we do sincerely apologize for. We are working more closely with our housekeeping staff to ensure this never happens again.
It was ok I'm thankful that the receptionist ended up somehow forgoing the incidental charge but it wasn't without her taking forever to give us my room at 6 in the morning after I repeatedly told her I made the reservation on Expedia. I told her over and over that it was for the previous day not for Friday but she some how couldn't find it and eventually found it after having me wait for 20 minutes after It was a long day and if it wasn't necessary, if she could have not charged me for incidentals ine first place why even mention it?? I don't want to use the "R" word, but......anyways nice clean place the view of that mountain for someone from the city like me was glorious !

I am sorry to hear that your check in experience was not as expected. It is our hotel policy for all reservations paid through third parties to take an incidental card on file without any holdings. In this instance your reservation had not been added to our system automatically so our desk agent had to manually enter it. This includes your information as well as Expedia's information and an incidental card. Without this information our system will not allow a person to be checked in.

The stuff was very friendly have nothing bad to say about that for sure. However, the rooms could use a more TLC. The bathroom sink was clogged would fill up to the rim once the water was turn on and the carpets were very dirty.

Charming and Nice
It’s definitely an older hotel, but that’s part of its charm. It is well taken care of, clean, and staff is very friendly. Bed wasn’t super comfortable but it’s always hard to sleep somewhere other than your own bed. I would stay here again. I would recommend.

Room was basic but relatively comfortable and was in a great location, very walkable to downtown Durango.
However our room had a balcony that overlooked the train yard, and an outdoor entrance, and had a connecting room, and was very loud at night and in the morning. We also couldn’t get very hot water in the morning for a shower.

Great location in the walking distance to Main Street with lots of shopping and eating options. Cross the street Polar Express train station. Clean and comfortable hotel. Great staff and good free breakfast. The only I would give 4 stars for parking. We came for the weekend Polar Express and hotel was busy, it was little hard to find parking spot. But overall price and accommodation and location is worth it.

Loved the complimentary adult beverages for happy hour. The pool was very nice and well kept. Jacuzzi was perfect. The atmosphere was nice and the breakfast was delicious. You can tell they really want to please their guests. We arrived early and we're able to check in 2 hrs prior to check in time which was nice for us. The rooms are everything you need to a great stays. Beds were comfortable and the pillows were awesome. Overall we had a great stay and look forward to going back next time! The reason for visiting was The Polar Express and the train station was 2 minutes walking distance which made it all so much more convenient for us!

Our stay at Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn in Durango was a very good experience. There was a lot of available parking beside the hotel and it is a short walk into town for shopping or dining. The room was clean, beds and pillows were comfortable and the added amenities were a pleasant surprise. The hotel offers a happy hour with two free drinks and the morning breakfast buffet was better than we have experienced in any hotel. Our only complaint, if you can call it that, is that we could not figure out the tv. The remote was confusing and we were unable to access any shows. A short tutorial or guide on use of the remote would be helpful for those of us more challenged by new technology. Otherwise, our stay was very pleasant and we most definitely will choose this hotel on our next trip to Durango. We have already recommended it to friends traveling through Durango on their way to Arizona in January.
