Great cabin in a fantastic location
We had a fantastic time here, perfect location for snow. Plenty of room for our family and our friends. My only feedback would be to have an air fryer as cooking at altitude is much longer.

Colorado Family Vacation
The house and the views from the house were beautiful. The downstairs was a fun place to hang out and play games and have drinks/snacks. The deck was also nice to hang out on for evening drinks and morning coffee. The management company was great at responding quickly. It was an easy drive to Breckenridge and into the town of Fairplay.

Beautiful Mountain Home
Highly recommend this home for a beautiful mountain stay. We had 10 people in our group and everyone had their own space. The hot tub and sauna were a huge plus and the views from the hot tub at night cannot be duplicated. The property manager was easily accessible for a few questions we had during our stay. We will definitely be back to this amazing home. The gravel road to the home is about 4 miles with some parts being pretty rough but that isn’t the homeowners/property managers fault. Overall this is a beauty place with amazing views of wildlife.

Amazing Mountain Vacation
The listing for Chessett Lodge is very accurate; it's beautiful! We spent 9 days with our 5 adult children and 2 year old grandson. It allowed us enough space to all sit together and also allowed everyone a place to escape. The views are gorgeous, the house is well equipped. Word of warning, the house is at 11,000 feet; being flatlanders we were unaware of the many forms of elevation sickness.

Family Vacay 2022
Home was beautiful! We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our time there. The only issue we had was the cleanliness of the home. For the price we paid I expected cleanliness to be a priority. There were issue with dirty bed sheets, scum in master showers and cob webs/dust throughout the house. I did speak with management to address the issue and will see what happens. I would recommend home but be sure to check and mention issues upon arrival.

The property was amazing. We had so many places to hang out just at the house. The hot tub was perfect after a day out. It was my birthday and they even left cakes for us. This place is a must, and it was like two vacations in one with the house and it being right up road from Breckinridge.

Incredible Home & Location
Located just outside of Breckenridge, this home is exactly what it looks like. Remote and private, but not too far from the activities you want to partake in. Head to Breckenridge for a day taking in the shops and restaurants, or head to the small town of Fairplay for great trout fishing for the kids at the local lake. The home was clean, secluded in the trees, and a great place to have quality family time.

Beautiful mountain cabin
We loved our stay here and the cabin met all of our expectations! Having 3 levels gave us so much space for everyone to spread out and have their own space. We enjoyed watching the chipmunks play all day long and we also saw a coyote and a bobcat! If you like to get away from it all and vacation in a remote location this is the perfect cabin for you!

Fantastic comfortable house, secluded and quiet
For our 2 families, this house was the perfect size for the 8 of us. The adults loved the spacious living area with views to South Park and the surrounding mountains. The kids enjoyed the pool table and seclusion of the game room with its separate bedroom, TV and bathroom. The kitchen had everything we could ever think of, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. With all of the drives and hikes in the area, we could have stayed for another week and still not done everything we wanted. For those daunted by a hike up one of the nearby 14-ers of the Mosquito range, there is the PIka Trail right in the neighborhood, or drive over to the adjacent valley and the Kite Lake trailhead, and then take the short hike to Lake Emma. Or head south and drive up the Fourmile Creek road and hike to the abandon mines. So much to do and see, you don't even need to drive into Breckenridge. This house was exactly what we needed to unwind. Major kudos for having the hot tub ready to use on our arrival. We’ve stayed at far too many rental homes where the hot tub either doesn’t work or requires the renter to get it fired up and running. Fair warning: the house is at 11,000 feet elevation and if you aren't acclimated, you will feel it. Altitude sickness can ruin the first couple of days, so plan ahead! Many, many thanks for making this beautiful house available to us for our getaway!!

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. If you ever get altitude sickness, it is a good idea to get a prescription from your doctor before your arrival. We have found that it also helps to take a decongestant like Sudafed for a couple of days. Thank you again and I hope you can come back soon!

Spacious & beautiful.
Cabin was perfect for our large group--roomy and comfortable. The large lot makes for privacy and great views, yet you can readily access nearby Fairplay or Alma. The host was very responsive to our questions. We'll book again.

We loved this property! If you want a remote mountain home that has everything you need then I would highly recommend this place. If you’re planning on going to Breckenridge everyday, it’s about a 35-45 minute drive, but it was worth it imo. The hot tub, sauna and pool table were so much fun and we had no issues with them. We loved the cabin vibe with the new appliances and amenities this mountain home offered.

Fabulous Cabin
My husband and I stayed there for our vacation and we will definitely be back. The property and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The cabin was beautiful and it had everything we needed. We loved watching the sunrise on the second floor and in the evenings on the third floor balcony watching the sunset. Using the hot tub and the sauna was a much needed relaxation that this cabin also has to offer. I will tell everyone about this cabin and we can’t wait to go back. ❤️

Our family of 8 really enjoyed our trip to CO. The house was beautiful as well as the views. There was not at TV in the loft area as advertised. Would've been nice to have so adults could watch shows while the kids had their own area. It snowed twice while we were up there. Definitely need 4WD if it has been snowing! Overall everything went without a hitch. We are from central Texas so the altitude did get to us. I took preventative meds from my MD, but our pediatrician recommended dramamine for the younger ones. We all did fine except for some shortness of breath but nothing terrible. My FIL is older with heart problems so he took the altitude a bit worse than everyone else. (He didn't listen when I told him to go to his MD for meds.) It was an enjoyable experience overall.

Amazing Cabin!
This cabin was absolutely amazing! It was nestled into the mountain and was an amazing place to stay. It was just a short drive to Alma and a little further to Breckenridge. We really enjoyed the high end kitchen, huge sauna and hot tub. There are a lot of reviews talking about altitude sickness, but none of us had any issues other than a little short of breath going up and down the stairs - which was expected! We will definitely be staying here again the next time we go to Breckenridge. Thankyou!

Great spot for a secluded vacation in the mountains. Highly recommend checking the weather for unexpected snow and being prepared with 4 wheel drive, else you can enjoy a quiet cozy cabin while you are snowed in. Greatly enjoyed the hot tub on those chilly nights and the cabin had everything we needed besides food (which I recommend a quick stop at Prathers in Fairplay) Would definitely go back!

Wonderful secluded getaway
We had a great relaxing weekend here. We only had a group of 4, but could easily fit more! The basement bar area was great for hanging out. Master bedroom suite was gorgeous and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed, except we couldn't find grill tools. The hot tub was perfect for startgazing at night. Only minor complaint would be it overlooks the driveway- would be nicer in the trees or with a better view. The house is very secluded, we didn't hear or see anyone else the whole time. It's only a short drive to fairplay for dinner or supplies. Overall absolutely loved it!!

So glad we got to enjoy this place. Wish we had more time, but it was a great taste of a winter wonderland. We couldn't stream any movies so bring your own and don't rely on satellite internet which is limited. We also lost power for 10 minutes and it threw out the hot tub before we were able to use it. Google Maps did get us very close too.

Amazing Luxury mountain home!
the house is more beautiful than the pictures show. Communication with the rental company was amazing and my entire group was very surprised at how well the house was taken care of. Fully equipped kitchen to make dinners if needed. Very high elevation but got used to it after a few days. Super quiet and relaxing area! we loved everything about this house! Breckenridge is about 30min drive from the home and fairplay about 15 mins which was great for getting groceries and or breakfast and lunch. Alma which is about 10 mins away had the best and most friendly dispensary around! We thought the road going to the house was kind of a pain the first day we got there but after exploring for a few days we realized it is actually amazing compared to other roads around the area and seems to be very well taken care of. House was Beautiful! Hot tub was nice! Pool table was awesome! The only complaint we all had was that we didn't stay longer! Do keep in mind when renting the elevation is very high and makes it difficult for those not used to being two miles above sea level. I recommend lots of water and a small oxygen booster bottle which u can find just about anywhere it really helped us as we were very out of breath first 2 days.

We had two families stay here July 18-24. We had two 10 yo’s, two 13 yo’s & four adults. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. We loved all the wildlife we saw every day, getting in the hot tub after hiking & cooking dinners & breakfast together most days. Another one of our favorite activities was wildlife hunting at dusk. We saw a ton of moose in the area & much more! This place is phenomenal and exactly as described. We loved every minute of our stay and hope to return in the future. You cannot go wrong staying here. Our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. This place is awesome!

My party of 6 from Texas visited this home in July. We did not experience altitude sickness during our stay. We stayed hydrated, which is key in prevention. This home is fabulous with plenty of space to roam around. The weather was absolutely amazing for July, needless to say all windows were left open to let the cool mountain air inside. We had an amazing time exploring, hiking and rafting during our week stay. The home offers a sauna and hot tub, which were used and much appreciated after our long hiking treks. The nighttime sky is amazing, bring a telescope. The house is comfortable and clean and the response from the rental company is fast.

The good - the house is lovely, plenty of space to stretch and accommodated all 8 of us comfortably. The mattress in the upstairs master bedroom was quite comfy. Hot tub was super relaxing after a day of fishing and hiking. The kitchen was awesome! Everything you need to cook and prepare Meals was there. Proximity to breckenridge was excellent. The bad - the house is sitting right at 11,000 feet. Even preparing ourselves for that altitude did not save us from a day of serious altitude sickness. I feel like that detail should be included in the description since it is quite different getting adjusted to being at an elevation of 8000-9500’ than 11,100’. BUT, once we acclimated everything was superb! Just beautiful!

We do send out a Welcome to Park County email to everybody when they book letting them know of the elevation and warning them if they feel they might have issues to go visit their doctor and they can be prescribed pills to help with the adjustment. It is the first thing they read when they receive that email. We try out best to prepare everybody but all bodies are different and act differently under the circumstances. Amazing Mountain Escape
Stunning, spacious, and comfortable log cabin home high up in the mountains. Great for a group or family. Really felt like we escaped civilization. Saw lots of wildlife. Wifi was good in spots around the house and different times of day though calls were hard to make. Watching the stars and night skies from the hot tub were BEYOND EPIC! I've never seen so many shooting stars. The bath tub in the master bedroom is SOOO COOL!!! Elevation wasn't too bad but you definitely feel it. Drink lots of water - the fridge was very helpful with that how is measures your water. Very cool and high tech amenities!

The views and acreage of this property are exceptional. Everyone had ample room to move around and the individual thermostats was an unexpected bonus as the bottom floor was on average much colder than the top floor. This trip would have been pretty hard to top had we not all experienced multiple days of Altitude Sickness. Side Note: As native Texans, we did not adequately understand the results of such high altitudes. My FIL, who is a bit heavier, had a very hard time breathing throughout the trip at this elevation. We all, ranging in age from 18 months-50yrs old, experienced severe headaches, difficulty breathing, unusual tiredness, nose bleeds and a few vomiting. If you are experienced with high altitudes, do not let this deter you from booking. The house is even better than expected!

Our family truly enjoyed our stay. Great amenities, very spacious and the mountain views were breath-taking. The only suggestions we have is to stock the bathrooms with more soap, the kitchen with more garbage bags and provide an extra blanket.

The property is magnificent. Covered by wilderness, spacious, and overall beautiful. I would recommend having a form of continuous oxygen flow for those not used to altitude. The home sits very high and we all got altitude sickness everyday of the stay.

Winter Wonderland
Our stay was spectacular! Chessets lodge is beautiful, it is a winter wonderland. We enjoyed sledding down the mountain and waking up to spectacular views! The cabin is very warm and perfect for a big family!

Wonderful family gathering at a beautiful cabin
The cabin is amazing and very well stocked. Beautiful scenery from every window and secluded just enough for privacy. We met with family that we had not seen in quite some time and had a wonderful time. We brought towels but they had plenty. We had only one washcloth so had to buy some at the store. Other than that what we were told to bring was correct. We had an awesome sleigh ride and enjoyed the hot springs at Mt Princeton. It snowed heavily one day and the driveway was cleared off very quickly. We had no trouble with a 4 wheel drive truck. Overall a very pleasant experience!

A Real Getaway!
9 of us stayed at Chessetts.- myself, my adult children with their spouses, and my 4 grandkids, ages13, 9, 8, and 5. Nobody wanted to leave! This place is remote but that is part of its glory. We took day trips to Garden of the gods, The Royal Gorge and Breckenridge. These trips were great fun but the kids were more excited about playing outside, getting in the hot tub and playing games together at night. The most surprising part to me was the adults playing Uno until 1:45 am. Needless to say, we will long remember the family memories we built at Chessetts The house was extraordinary. There was plenty of space to spread out,, excellent appliances, plenty of towels and linens, extra propane for the grill and places to get away and come together. Chessetts is high up in the mountains and it took a day or so to adapt to the altitude but you forgot all about that when you looked at the spectacular view. We were hoping for snow and sledding but only had some flurries that put a dusting on the landscape that only made it even more beautiful. I highly recommend Chessetts to anyone who wants to build some family memories in a spectacular setting.

Great house with altitude
This is a great property but renters must be aware of the altitude. The main floor sits at 11,120 ft. above sea level. If you are capable of handling the height this is your place to vacation.

Beautiful quiet getaway
If you are looking for a lodge deep in the mountain, this is your place. It does take roughly 20 minutes to get up the mountain, but once you are there, it's purely majestic. The lodge had more than enough space for our family of five. We enjoyed feeding the Martins and ground squirrels out the back door. We usually saw a moose on the way up to the lodge, and saw a few elk and deer as well. We played lots of pool and warmed up in the hot tub a couple of nights. The place is still close to all the action. It took about a half hour to get to Breckenridge and roughly an hour and a half to Colorado Springs which made it a perfect location for us. The sauna was hard to figure out so we didn't use it much. You do have to plan your water usage because it affects your water pressure. There was plenty of brochures available to help us plan our activities which was appreciated. We stayed busy hiking, horse back riding, shopping in Breckenridge, and in Colorado Springs we went to Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods and visited The Royal Gorge on the way back. Some days it was nice to hang out at the lodge, play pool, cards, put together a puzzle or watch some TV. Overall, this was our favorite place that we rented on VRBO so far. We would definitely rent again.

The property was absolutely amazing!!
We couldn't of asked for a better place to spend our Family Spring Break. The snow was nonstop but made for a beautiful scenery! As far as the house, it was the perfect size for the 10 of us. Would love to go back during the summer to enjoy the warmer side of what it offers.
