A Perfect Getaway
This was our second stay, but it won't be the last. The property is charming and cozy. It was too cold to sit by the outside fire, so we used the fireplace and it was perfect.

Great Place To Stay!!!!!!
This place with everything we hoped it would be and then some. Hosts were easily accessible. The whole hog theme of the cabin was a great touch. We were there to hike and found a ton of trails in the area. We would definitely stay again and recommend this place to anyone.

A few days away from somewhere.
(Ironically typed in all caps) QUIET!! Comfy/cozy. Super clean - one little problem with some food left by a previous visitor, but judging from the rest of the place, we considered that an oversight and not part of the host’s ethic. Nice spot! Nestled in the mountains and nice views from the property. Sunrise from the MBR, Sunset from the LR. Small cabin (778sqft) but it does NOT feel that way. Very well designed with nice flow and feng shui. The centerpiece is the fireplace with stove insert (it actually holds the house up!) and we made good use of that as we were there in cold/damp late March. Wraparound deck which we would’ve used more at a different time of year but I did morning a stretching out there in the sunlight. We were escaping greater NYC. Mostly stayed in, nestled by the fire doing writing, playing music, cooking, reading, and napping… and spying the superhero action figures stashed in nooks and crannies around the cabin. We did grocery shopping in Kingston on the way in, but the convenience-store sized grocery in the hamlet at the bottom of the hill had some surprising variety, and there’s an artisanal cheese store next door - the have a dairy farm nearby. Also a tavern there with music (although we didn’t avail ourselves of that.) They had a list of nearby to-dos that was nice if we hadn’t been such homebodies! And if you didn’t get it - it’s a good place to do that.

Stayed here over winter break with my kids to ski near by. My family enjoyed the hog-related items in the home as well as the the hidden super heros all around the property. Everything was comfortable. Sunrises were beautiful and communicating with the owner was a breeze. Thank you for the stay!

Mice
We were very excited about this property but unfortunately there are mice in this residence. There are numerous mouse traps in the unit, so it seems this is a known problem. We also had not received the check-in information and had to contact vrbo to get it. We did not receive check-out information either. Also note that the unit does not have potable drinking water. Water was supposed to be provided, but none was in the unit. The views from this cabin are beautiful and the owner has put time into the decor. However, the above two issues are a problem.

Hello! The guest raised a concern, seeking compensation, but unfortunately, I couldn't fulfill this request. I explained our year-round pest control efforts to combat critters in the mountains. Despite our measures, field mice are a local presence. I also clarified that VRBO experienced downtime on her check-in day, preventing earlier check information. The guest received check-in details on at noon and arrived on time. Regarding water, we do provide drinking water (not required since it isn’t on listing , but it had ran out). I assured her that tap water is available, offering compensation for bottled water, as documented in screenshots. Guest also never inquired about the state of our tap water and took it upon herself to lie in her review after the financial compensation was denied.

Good stay, but could easily have been better
The place name includes fireplace, but there were only a few logs available. When I texted the host about where to find more, (and kindling) she replied that "guests usually bring their own". Aside from the fact the New York and other states forbid bringing firewood in from other states, I could not find any mention of this on the listing. The host gave us access to a shed with more wood, but this was still disappointing. The kitchen needs dish towels, a toaster/oven with all of the parts, and a broom and dustpan.

Hello Dave, I appreciate your stay, and I wanted to clarify a few points. Allowing access to our private shed and the fireplace logs was a gesture of kindness, though it's worth noting that firewood isn't provided as per the listing. I apologize for any disappointment caused by the shed's use. The toaster oven, used without issue by numerous guests, is complete with all its parts. You’re welcome to utilize the vacuum cleaner in the bathroom, there is in fact no broom or dust pan. Thank you for your understanding.

Daniel stayed four nights and I very kindly asked him If it was ok to check out a day early because of a double booking - totally My fault . I told him a would give him a full refund. Daniel was delighted and willingly left. I was only able to give him back 3 nights and partial of the 4th via the app. I called Vrbo and they said they would give him back the rest. VRBO still hasn’t. Daniel, Vrbo has your money - I don’t. They kept the fee for all four nights and I made about 68 bucks because of the one night I can’t physically fix on my end. Total payout was 168 minus cleaning fee Daniel agreed to pay. Sorry that I couldn’t work it out. I wish you would have called Vrbo to ask what the delay was or I could have given u the 68 back out of pocket if I knew you needed it that badly. I am sorry!

Fantastic Fall Weekend away at the Hog
The hog cabin is everything described on Vrbo, and much more! The cabin is super clean, and so well stocked that you don’t really need to leave to go out anywhere. The views of the mountains, especially now with the leaves changing, was stunning at sunrise and sunset. The deck was perfect for doing morning yoga. The fire pit is a great addition for evening fires. The beds are super comfy and the games Provided fun entertainment at night. The location is exactly what we were looking for as the property is secluded yet a short drive to some local spots and areas to hike. We will definitely be back again.

farm country hideaway.
Beautiful spot from which to explore the Catskills. Quiet with very relaxing porch overlooking the mountains. It is amazing how we depend on a working coffee pot which crashed and burned just prior to our visit, but we improvised!!.

I absolutely loved your little cottage. We were in the area for a wedding at the Spillian and honestly I would have rather stayed the whole weekend just cuddled up with my husband in this quaint home. We will definitely be back! Just a note - we were not able to get the living room tv on.

Great place for long weekend stay for couple
Very clean and well stocked cabin. We enjoyed sitting on the deck looking at the views surrounded by nature. Maria was quick to respond to our questions and very nice. You can't drink the water from the faucet, but they provide plenty of water from a cooler to drink. This was not an issue for us. The location was convenient to many restaurants and Belleayre ski mountain. We had rain and warm weather that melted the snow so the driveway did get a little muddy. If this happens, don't wear good shoes to go in and out of your car. Bring another pair of shoes and change in the car. I would recommend the cabin for a couple or a couple with 1 or 2 small children. Maximum 2 couples.

Cozy retreat
Very nice cabin with great wood stove insert near the comfortable couch and tv. We hiked Hunter and Slide Mountains and this cabin was well situated between the two. Be aware you need to stop at a gas station to bring your own firewood. Binnekill Tavern in Margaretville was a great place to eat in a very cute town.

Fantastic spot for a romantic get away!
We spent a weekend away from the city in the cabin and absolutely adored it. The cabin is fully equipped with everything you need and we felt very comfortable. The fireplace is very cozy and there’s a grill on the deck for a nice bbq. Recommend staying here!

We loved our stay at Hogg Cabin. Everything we needed was provided, close to biking and hiking trails, great food options all within 20 minutes. An extra plus for us is that you can’t see any other homes from the property, a rare find. We will stay again if the opportunity arises.

This house was absolutely perfect for a four-day getaway from the city. The home was cozy and the outdoor space was perfect for lounging in the hammock, reading and watching the sunset. I would definitely return.

Cozy Catskill Hideaway
Lovely cozy cabin close to Fleischmanns & Margaretville. Close to groceries, hikes, lakes etc. The cabin is small but easily could accommodate two of us. We loved the hidden superheroes around the place and the hog-related decor. Beds were comfy, cabin was clean, and the stars were so bright! The only thing I’d say is there’s no AC at the cabin so it can get a little hot during the day, and there’s no dishwasher. Maria was an exceptional host and communicated clearly with us and even let us check out late.

Thanks George. It usually stays cool up in the mountains so we’ve found that generally the AC isn’t needed all that much. Sorry about the no dishwasher. Im glad you enjoyed it - we absolutely love it up there. Hope u visit again!

Belleayre Ski Trip
house was amazing! we came up for a 2 day ski trip that we purchased a few weeks ago with my dad and brother. was supposed to go skiing monday and tuesday but monday it rained ALL DAY so we did not get a chance to ski at all that day. i am so glad we booked this property because since we couldnt go skiing we just stayed in the house and really got to enjoy it. we truly enjoyed our short stay at the hog cabin, the only negative thing i can say about this property is that the mattress was not comfortable. should seriously invest in a new mattress for the bedroom with the tv. other than that we all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are planning to come back next year

Wonderful little cabin
The cabin is beautiful and very well equipped and maintained. Great blend of cozy wooden cabin feal with modern features (kitchen, bathroom etc). While not far from the village it feels very secluded up on a hill overlooking the area. Would definitely recommend.

Had a very nice time here with the intentions to just relax and unwind. Although it was winter, I still sat on the deck and enjoyed the views with my morning coffee. At night, we lit a fire and read or listened to the record player. Plenty of streaming TV options too.

Perfect weekend at the cabin
I cannot overstate how much we LOVE this cabin. It is a perfect mix of rustic and modern. Very clean and tidy, sunny wrap around porch, fire pit, easy going owners- the perfect upstate experience. Can’t wait to return. Thank you Maria!

Really attractive cabin in very good condition. Maria, our host, was very responsive to our requests and very generous. The cabin is on a mountain top so in the summer when it’s hot and humid in the valley, it’s cool and breezy at Hog cabin!

Adorable Cabin!
My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at the Hog Cabin to celebrate his birthday and also just for a nice quiet weekend away. We got lucky and the weather was in the 80's (or certainly seemed like it in the sun) and we got to enjoy the great deck and lie in the hammock. Although we were also looking forward to sitting by the fire because the fireplace is amazing... but that will have to wait until we visit the cabin again in the winter, since we are definitely planning to return. The cabin is very clean and well appointed so you really have everything you need for your trip away. And the decorations are just lovely, with little pigs all over the place in addition to super heroes! Overall, a really lovely cabin so if you're looking for a secluded weekend away, definitely request to book the Hog Cabin.

Great Cabin- close to skiing or enjoying scenery
The cabin is adorable. I loved all the decor. The beds are comfy and the kitchen space is fantastic. The cabin is easy to reach yet once there it’s nestled at the top of Hog Mountain with privacy so it feels like you’re staying in the only cabin in the Catskills....yet the grocery store and restaurants are close by. It’s a short 10-minute drive to Bellearye which I found to far exceed Hunter & Windham ...provided there’s fresh snow. It’s late in the season for skiing but there’s plenty of other things to do in the area. The fireplace makes for a romantic setting. The outside deck is fantastic. Overall, I highly recommend staying here.

My girlfriend and I loved this spot! Stayed for a weekend, beautiful inside and out. Loved the fireplace and surround sound for music and movies. We saw tons of deer outside each morning. Would stay again for snowboard trips.

Great time but few unexpected issues
The hog cabin was exactly as pictured with a great layout and with little pigs and superheroes everywhere! We had a great long weekend but there were a few things that we weren't prepared for prior to arriving. We didn't realize the drinking water would have to be from a filter, which ran out during our stay. So you may want to purchase water just in case. The driveway became a sheet of ice by the end of our trip and our rental car couldn't make it to the top. There was also no dishwasher, dish rack or dish towels for drying dishes, so I would bring some if possible. By the end of our trip the water in the sink, kitchen, and shower would not drain properly and we let the owners know. All in all, we had a great time and also appreciated the sonos speakers and TV set up.

The Coziest Experience
We had an ideal week at the Hog Cabin - this place is a couple's winter wonderland dream. The photos are very accurate. It is an adorably designed, modern log cabin. With the fire burning, the tree lit up and snow falling lightly outside, I turned to my husband and asked if I was dreaming inside a snow globe! The house is bight and airy with windows that provide gorgeous views of the woods and mountains. We enjoyed just staying in with a fire lit and reading or watching movies. It's very secluded without another house in sight from the property (although you're still close to civilization once you descend the driveway). We cooked all week and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed to do that. There were also some basics like spices, oils, sugar, flour. There's a grocery store in Margaretsville <5 min drive that had everything you may need/want. We'd recommend assessing what they have onsite after you arrive before making the trip there. Maria & Tommy were excellent hosts and made sure to get back to us about anything we needed while we were there. We will be dreaming about this amazing escape for a long time to come and hopefully will find another time to return!
