Nice hotel. Not close to heart of the city but shuttle was great at no charge.

too far from the center of activity

Posted May 16, 2017
The place is clean, but a little dated. Far from the center of Florence activities. Shuttle service saved the stay. The hotel needs to increase the early hours to accommodate guests with tours

Very Controlled

Posted May 3, 2017 on Hotels
Everything is very controlled, from the air conditioning to the confusing elevators, some go one place others go to another in the same elevator area. Then you have to go to another elevator on the other side around the corner to get to the garage, with only one sign by that elevator ( if I knew it was there I wouldn't need a sign). It seems they are wanting to derect you to the pay services! The staff was just ok . The € 15 breakfast wasn't worth it (the only one I had to pay for). I left a day early, just wanted to get out of there! They didn't even give us enough towels after they took the others away.

The Air Conditioning Does NOT Work & Dirty Floor

Posted Apr 13, 2017 on Hotels
Never again. The air conditioning works in the hallways, but not in the rooms. I called the front desk and ask them to turn the air on when I arrived because the room was so hot. You have no control over the air at all. In the middle of the night I woke up burning up and smothering because there was no airflow in the room. I called the desk at 2am and asked them to please give me some air. I considered cracking the door to the halls because it was a lot cooler out there, but I knew this would not be safe. I cracked the window in the room only to be kept up all night by the construction going on outside. The bathroom floor was dirty like it had not been mopped. I don't even want to know what it had all over it. I kept my shoes on. We tried to get something to eat at the bar and the staff was poorly trained. We waited forever as he tried to wait on several people. I also waited about 10 minutes for them to get me some ice. I accidentally left my curling iron in the room and when I returned to the hotel it was not in the lost and found. Also, the door to the bathroom is glass, so unless you are very comfortable with who you will be rooming with, I would not suggest staying here. Needless to say, I will not be back.

Cheap!

Posted Mar 24, 2017 on Hotels
Hotel staff poorly trained and not efficient. Front desk could not answer any questions about the area. Shuttle bus to city drops off in dicey area on street below (literally) train station. At night, took taxi back to hotel. (20 euro). The hotel was cheap, so you get what you pay for!

Nice hotel but not for historic Florence

Nice hotel but not conveniently located if your goal is to see historic Florence. There is a shuttle that runs to the center several times a day.

Very good, but still room for improvement

Posted Jan 16, 2017 on Hotels
My stay was pleasant overall - I had a superb room for a very inexpensive price. The breakfasts were very good, too - although for EUR 15, so I would hope. The free shuttle bus to the city centre was indispensable and very welcome. My biggest criticism was check-in which, as can often be the case in continental Europe, was a little too bureaucratic. The member of staff who checked me in would have been more welcoming if she had smiled a little more and said please and thank you more - e.g. when asking in English for a guest's passport, it is necessary to say, "Your passport, please", and not just, "Your passport". This would be solved with some extra staff training, but at a Hilton such an observation really should not be necessary. Also it was not clear to me how the key-card opened the door to the room. When receptionists give guests the little paper wallet for the key-card, this should have a diagram on it as to how to hold the card against the reader - it was not at all obvious and I had to come back down to reception for receptionist to accompany me to the room to demonstrate. This is an aggravation at the start of a stay. Similarly, at check-out, it would have been nice if the receptionist had asked, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" or "Can I phone for a taxi for you?". While this branch of the Hilton is luxurious and pleasant, I was left with the familiar gripe about chain hotels, namely that they lack the personal touch. Room for improvement here!
