This is a very nice hotel in the center of Ghent. An old townhouse remodeled as a hotel. The rooms are spacious and functional. The only drawback is the small bathroom (hence 4-star rating for facilities). The staff is very friendly, fluent in English (and probably many other languages), always available to help and to provide information. The hotel is located in the center of Ghent minutes away from the most important sites to visit in Ghent. Despite the location in the city center, we (family of five with suitcases) had no trouble reaching it using train and tram from Brussels Airport. Overall, highly recommended!

This hotel was nice but the location is not the best. It was exceptionally noisy, it’s under construction so there was a ton of people in and out, and the “close” parking was very far away. The lady working the desk was very nice and helpful and the rooms were large but it’s just not in the best location to really see and walk around Ghent.

Great, quirky hotel south of the Grote Markt by about a 10 minute walk. The room was no more than a very small bedroom, but fine for our use. Despite the size there was a closet and a small desk. The bathroom was really nice, fully updated and modern, with a shower stall (no tub). The innkeeper told us that a shortcut to our room was afforded through the Irish pub next door (fully accepted by the pub, just walk on through - or stop for food and drink... Fantastic food there by the way, and a fine Belgian beer selection, not just Irish ones!) If you want the standard lobby-hallway-generic room of modern hotels forget this one. There are stairs only as far as I know, and room size could be issues for some. But if character, quirks and a decent price are alright with you, give it a go!

The room was spacious and clean with good heating plus an ensuite bathroom with both a bath and a seperate shower. The breakfast room was accessed across an uncovered courtyard. The breakfast was had limited options and no staff present. Pre booked parking on the site was available. The road was quiet.

Reception very good. Handy to have a good Irish bar virtually as part of the set up. We were upgraded so no argument with accommodation. Easy stroll into the old centre.

Nice hotel in central location on a quiet street. Room was on the small side but comfortable. Only problem is parking as you'll need to use a public car park. There are at least 3 within a 5' walk, but you can't book these and the one-way system may make it difficult to drive to the next one if the one your queueing at is full.

Excellent location, very close to major sights but not in a noisy area. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Big shower cubicle and clean with tea/coffee facilities in room. Easy to get to the main station by tram.

Expensive for an 'average' hotel room
The picture of the room along with the description and price for a 'semi-open bathroom' and In our opinion 'deluxe' was not accurate. It was a regular double room with a bathroom. This should be changed to avoid dissapointment. There were certainly no characteristic beams and free standing baths! The room was ok but a little tired. In all honesty I expected a bit more considering the price. The hotel could generally do with some modernisation for what they were charging. The TV didn't work as per the instructions. Marks and scrapes on the bedhead/floor/furniture was old and marked. We also had towels with soap on them which had leaked from the dispensers and holes in them when we arrived. Not super nice or 'deluxe'! Please note: the reception for this hotel is closed at certain terms with no phone in the room to contact them. We picked up our keys from an Irish bar. However, the location is really good and the room was a good size.

The location was great. The rooms were clean and comfy, We had a parking space which was very helpful. My only complaint is all the stairs. We were on the top floor with no elevator. Apparently that is pretty standard.

A pretty good location just outside the main tourist area. The room was very big and the bed comfortable. Good breakfast for an additional cost. Some black mould in the bathroom. Not a very secure hotel as patrons from the Irish pub which is part of the same building can easily enter the hotel’s common areas. Very helpful reception staff, particularly Joey. Hotel emailed ahead with helpful information about parking, transit, etc.

Now this is a real hotel (unlike the one we stayed in the previous week in Munich which was a dump). This was our second stay in Onderbergen and we really love it. The location is great and the fact that it is attached to an Irish pub is a big plus.

Came for Ghent Festival held in July. Hotel is convenient to walk there but far enough away to enjoy a good night sleep. Only problem was the heat wave since the hotel doesn’t have aircon.
