A very poor option which has seen better days. The Room was clean, and the cleaning staff were very pleasant, but unfortunately the common areas of the hotel were dirty and unpleasant

The staff were very friendly and the view out to sea from the pool was beautiful. The rooms were very basic but clean.

Fairly disappointed, looked great on pictures.
Need an upgrade or maybe some proper maintenance. Couldn't make the breakfast and they didn't want to refund me although I pad extra for it through Hotels.com - anyway, not much, but leaves a bad taste. Won't visit again.

This hotel has amazing views. The rooms are nice and bright but the decor and furniture needs updating, it all felt a lityle grubby. The shower room is in dire need of updating. Bedding clean and beds compfy. Restaurant really nice.

The stay started off with battling to get into the room. The door had to be lifted up and pulled backwards in a certain way in order for the key to work. Then once inside, we couldn't lock the door as the "knob" wasnt working. There where another problems: The cabinet in the Bathroom was warped and broken. The trapdoor in the ceiling was wide open. The pillow slips where dirty. The paint was coming of the walls. There was mould in the shower. No, it was no a pleasant stay at all.

Nice chaps at Chapman Hotel and conference centre
The Chapman is centrally situated within walking distance to the beach and close to high end restaurants in the area. Nice view, friendly staff and comfortable rooms.

Nice central position and nice view, staff were friendly, the building is showing age but was comfortable, the food we had was terrible, I don't think they have enough turnover to keep it fresh.

Due to our high level of occupancy throughout the year and our close proximity to the sea, we have an ongoing maintenance programme throughout the year. Further, the widely-publicized disastrous and prolonged drought conditions being experienced in the Eastern Cape have hampered our maintenance efforts with regards to common areas. Needs TLC
The hotel desperately needs some TLC, and seems to have been neglected. While the rooms are clean, they are old & falling apart. The staff are incredibly friendly & very willing to help - however the owners have let the establishment deteriorate. Please note I would give the staff service an excellence rating.

Not very clean
I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. The bathroom ceiling had mold, the shower tiles were not clean. The "double" bed was actually two single beds pushed together, with the dreaded crack between making it uncomfortable. It is a lower-priced hotel in a high-end area. You get what you pay for.

We stayed at the Chapman overnight (1 day only) We found the room to very clean although the furniture seemed a bit outdated. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The view of the bay area was spectacular - The Chapman is a lost gem in the sea of the larger big name hotels surrounding it

Great Value for Money & a Great Location.
This hotel represents outstanding value for money, especially during the winter months. My room had spectacular sea views. The rooms are very spacious. There is a separate bath and shower. No individual toiletries are provided. Just hand pump soap, which I think was the same for the shower. So bring your own shampoo. 5 minute walk to the beach and fast food restaurants, McDonalds and Nandos. 45 minute walk to downtown CBD of Port Elizabeth. I did the walk twice - very safe and great views along the way of the beaches and Port. Very friendly management. The included breakfast is cooked to order - selection from menu not buffet. However, when its busy they may have a buffet. I had dinner in the restaurant on my first night at the hotel - very reasonably priced and great service. Only negatives are as follows: No air-conditioning not an issue during my stay in winter, but maybe a concern in summer , but there is a wall mounted fan. Internet - a major negative. - Complimentary wifi is not included in the rates. You have to pay for the internet. I paid for 5 day connection through Always on South Africa - The Chapman Hotel was a so called Hotspot - it was about $30 US dollars, although cheaper plans for a few hours are available. Even though you are paying for the service, the connection is very poor to the say the least. I have no problem paying for the internet, but when you pay and get a substandard connection this is an issue.

Decent Hotel, good Service and amazing view.
It is a decent hotel, with good service and staff. Door locking was a challenge but the staff was super helpful. The view from the room and restaurant was amazing. Pool was nice and clean as well also with amazing view.

A recepção do hotel é muito ruim, difícil de passar com malas. O acesso aos quartos e por escada, então se não houver alguém para te ajudar com as malas fica muito complicado. O quarto é apenas ok, parecia bem limpo, mas não tinha secador por exemplo e as instalações pareciam estar bem velhas. Ok para uma noite apenas, mas não voltaria para uma estadia maior.
