a very simple clean and safe beachside hotel

Posted Oct 26, 2015
Pros: inexpensive beachside location; clean and safe hotel; staff is friendly and helpful - kudos to Nelson and Albert
Cons: beach lounge chairs and gym should not be locked up during the day; rooms are dark-dark contents, little light; put forth effort to control mosquitos
Location: located on soft sand and calm water beach; restaurants, shops, two shopping malls, and bus stop within walking distance
If you are looking for a safe and clean place to sleep, shower and store your belongings while you are out and about, this hotel would suffice. Otherwise, there is nothing fancy about it. The room is not sound proof. The windows have wooden slats with screens but no glass so you can hear noise from outside. There is no on-site entertainment or food options. This is the first hotel that I have been at where the lounge chairs for the beach are always locked up, even during the day. If you want a chair, you need to ask for one and it is locked up after you are done with it. If you want to use the gym, you need to ask reception for the key as it too is always locked. I saw the pool being used once during my 10 day stay and only cleaned once as well. If you are okay with all of this, then you will be fine. The staff members, including housekeeping, reception and security, are very friendly and helpful. Beautiful Grand Anse Beach is only steps away and has soft sand and calm water. There are two shopping malls (each with grocery stores), restaurants and shops within walking distance. On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, food trucks set up on the main road across from the hotel, open until the wee hours. There is one food truck that is there every night until 3am. There is a bus stop nearby, the buses are actually vans. The nearby Flamboyant Hotel offers entertaining crab races on Monday nights. Visit Carriacou if you get a chance - fly or take a ferry.

Great deal, right on the beach!

Posted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: Wifi, Pool, Clean, Staff, Beachfront
Location: Beach, Spicemall, Restaurants, Close ride to SGU campus.
Staff was so accomodating and friendly. Arrived late at night and the security guard, Neil, gave us great advice about where we could safely walk to eat..(area is usually pretty populated and feels safe, lots of street venders right across the major street). All the front desk staff was also helpful, especially Nelson. Clean! Great stay and for a great price!

I love the Allamanda and it's convenience to everything. It's not fancy but who is going to be in their room here?

A little Gem squeezed between the big guys.

Posted Apr 3, 2015
I love this place. My Ocean View room was huge, much bigger than most UK hotels where Heaven help you if you actually want to open your suitcase. Enormous bed mega kingsize. Good bathroom . All kept clean and nice by the lovely Gloria.Private balcony with table and chairs. Good size fridge .TV. There is a fitness room which is worth a visit just to marvel at the antiquity of the machines and a nice little pool, but who needs those when the stunning Grand Anse beach is just the other side of the gate. There didn't seem to be a functioning bar or restaurant but maybe i missed those as I wasn't looking. Just over the road is the big, well stocked SPice Island mall supermarket, and next door are an excellent sushi restaurant and other food places and bars.... and of course there are bars and restaurants along the beach. It's plain and simple but warm and welcoming and cheaper than the bigger posher places either side.
