Beautiful serene location on a cliff away from main tourist areas with secluded beach (we used the wonderful stony steps to get up and down - great exercise). Highly attentive staff and great food options. Verde Mar restaurant particularly good with sustainable options. We had anniversary and birthdays to celebrate and experienced several beautiful surprise patisserie creations in our room.

I stayed five nights at The Ritz Carlton, Abama and ultimately checked out one day early. The resort is beautiful and the food was excellent, but unfortunately the overall experience fell well below what I would expect from a Ritz Carlton. Cons - Extremely slow service, with most requests taking one to two hours - Luggage took approximately 1.5 hours and four calls to arrive - My allergies were not properly acknowledged, including being given red wine despite my stated allergy and strawberries being present throughout the breakfast fruit - Welcome wine replacement took nearly two hours - Wedding music continued until nearly midnight - Hotel attributed the delays to the wedding rather than apologizing or preparing appropriately - Poor quality plastic water bottles that tasted strongly of plastic - Inconsistent housekeeping and repeated calls required for basic service - A 45 minute wait for one glass of wine at the pool, after which I collected it myself - Chaotic atmosphere with poorly supervised children in shared areas. Yes, I understand children exist and was happy to book the family side but children crawling through the restaurants where hot coffee and plates of food are being carried around is unacceptable. Staff did not care. Pros: - food is decent - bedding and mattress were comfy and good quality

Amazing all around. Really nice staff, hospitality was 10/10. It was clean everywhere: pools, beach, gym, elevators, stairwells, just everything was SPOTLESS. That’s a very big deal for me. Breakfast was good. My only complaint is the food at the restaurants wasn’t outstanding for the price, especially compared to what’s available outside the resort. I spent $60 on lunch at El Mirador and all I got was a ceviche, one glass of wine, some bread and water. The ceviche was nothing to write home about. I tried dinner too, spent about $90, and again nothing I’ll be thinking about again. I’m not surprised by the prices themselves, I was more surprised the food didn’t leave a lasting impression. On average I spent €20-€30 eating outside the resort and the food was just as good, if not better. So I’d recommend leaving the hotel for food. Otherwise my stay was perfect and I’m looking forward to staying here again.

Wonderful staff, great food and beautiful setting. However the main pool was far too cold and spoiled things for the children. This was our fourth visit and the pool has previously been significantly warmer.
