Vacation home on the Albemarle Sound

Do you want to watch beautiful sunrises in the morning over the water? This home is for you. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunroom or sitting on the pier. Take a swim in the sound or fish from the dock. Have your own boat, the boat ramp is around the corner. There is a large shelter that is wonderful for family cookouts. You are about 30 minutes from either Elizabeth City or Edenton.
Bring your own paddle boats or kayaks to enjoy the sound. Water is only about 3 ft deep at the dock. There is a fire pit on site.
Blink security cameras in use that cover the driveway and front and back entrances.

***Just a reminder, our slice of Heaven is waterfront property and as such, you will be in nature. There are insects, pests and wildlife that share this beautiful area with us. We do our best to keep them out of the house with yearly/monthly pest control. However, there is still a chance you may find a spider or other insects inside the home. There is also a chance in the warmer months that there will be Fuzzy Bills/Midges or May Flies outside.***

The host Phyllis is fantastic -- she was very flexible and kept us informed throughout the 11 day stay. The house is clean and well kept, one of the very best in the area. The dock is very nice and super accessible, and the outdoor covered area is really useful if you want to be outside (and in this area, you do) when it happens to be raining. Overall a really fantasic experience for us, and if I needed to come back, this would be my first choice.

Our family loved this property for our short visit. There’s a lot to do in the area. The host was communicative/responsive. I recommend bringing tablets/your own movies or firestick to watch shows/movies. We made use of our time being outside on the dock, playing games, visiting Edenton, shopping in Elizabeth City. We will be back!

We stayed in this house last year. The dishwasher was broken then and still broken. It is a beautiful property, but no maintenance. The flowerbeds are all weeds and the shrubs are covered in vines. We never did get the tv to work. The “new beds” had sink holes in the middle. Very uncomfortable. There was a tin on the kitchen counter with a moldy cake. The tub needed cleaned of hair. Lollipop stick on chair. Makeup wand on island. Could continue, but such a beautiful spot just going down the tubes. Will not return again The year old air fresheners were dried stubs.

The view of the Sound was amazing! Had a very comfortable setup for hanging out back. grandkids really enjoyed the swimming and tried a little fishing (although we didn’t catch anything). Looking forward to our next trip down. Oh! by the way the house was great and very comfortable.

Wonderful Place

The house, Amazing Grace, was homey, comfortable and provided everything we needed. The view of the sound was simply gorgeous. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The only noise that we heard was the beautiful, honking Canada geese that were plentiful in the area.

Great Time!
We had a wonderful time here. We fished right off the prier in the back yard and caught 5 catfish and had a fish fry for the family. We caught some blue crab as well but threw those back. The view was amazing. The house was clean and plenty of room for the 6 of us. We will be coming back.

We needed a place to stay while waiting to close on our new home. This spot was perfect! It was large, comfortable, and peaceful, just what we needed during a stressful time! We have a large family, including 4 teenagers, and we were all able to relax with plenty of space. The views from the house, and the access to the water was phenomenal! I wish we had more time to enjoy the home!

Amazing Grace is Amazing
We only had the pleasure of staying one night. Loved the wide open layout of the house. We were in town for a wedding and it was nice to have the open space so we could all gather and talk without being bunched up in one room. We also enjoyed the backyard. Was very nice to sit and have the sound for a view. We all plan to return and make a weekend trip so that we can enjoy this little gem for more then one night!!

Peaceful spot with good water view
My husband and I enjoyed this house. The house itself is basic, but it has plenty of space and is clean and comfortable. We are kayakers and you can kayak (and swim) right from the dock. There are other good kayaking places around if you don't mind a bit of a drive; we really liked Merchant's MillPond. This house is not in a typical vacation spot; it's in a neighborhood. Some people come here to fish and go boating. (We didn't try fishing.) It's quiet and not at all like going to the beach with zillions of other people and lots of businesses. There are restaurants not too far away though, and some stores. We enjoyed sitting on the screen porch in the evenings, just watching the sunset and the ospreys fishing. I liked swimming in the sound--the water is about four feet deep. I don't know if I would recommend it for small children; when the wind picks up it feels a little like swimming inside a washing machine--pretty sloshy. The water is warm. The house probably could use a few updates, and the dishwasher looks like it hasn't worked for a while. (With only two of us, it wasn't an issue.) But there is space for a lot of people, a good kitchen, and there's a covered area where you can grill and eat outside. Things are well set-up for having fun.

Well, If you like dirt and spider webs
First the good, the location on the sound was wonderful. The view over the water was perfect. However, the property went south rather quickly. It seems that this house has not been maintained at all in quite a while. First the house itself. We had to move cobwebs out of the way just to get into the entrance door. Every window in the house has cobwebs. We decided to leave the property early because there were live spiders in some of the webs. Even the internet router was covered in webs. The very few curtains still hanging in the house were unusable because the curtain rods were all bent out of shape or pulling out of the wall. The ceiling light above the dining room table where we ate all our meals was filled with dead bugs. If you opened any cupboard or door in the house, you find random personal effects left behind by past renters. For example, in the medicine cabinet were someone’s contact lenses and used deodorant. In another was hairbrushes (hair included) Old, out-of-date food and spices are in the kitchen. The cupboard under the island was filled with so much junk it literally fell out onto the floor when you opened the doors. The carpet in the bedrooms is so dirty they are sticky and matted down We hated to walk on them without shoes. As far as the exterior, the weeds in the flower beds are as high as your waist and the plantings around the drive and front porch are so huge, that they cover the porch and steps. You had to drive your car into the lawn to avoid scratching your car on a rose bush. The description of the property describes a carport that the renter can use which was fine except it is surrounded by a literal junk pile including stacks of old tires and a broken-down golf cart and old swing. Behind an old shed is another junk pile with an old gas grill, a broken pallet, and other assorted junk. We have photos of all the issues we had concerns about. We finally had enough and left a day earlier than we planned and stayed in a hotel. Enough was enough.
