Anna was incredibly quick to respond to all our questions, making the check in process completely seamless. The lovely welcome treats left for our arrival were such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend, we couldn't have chosen a better base for exploring the Lakes!"

5 The Granary
5 The Granary"House is clean and tidy. The kitchen has everything we need. Water pressure and temperature in all bathroom are perfect. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The heater in ground floor got very loud noise after few hours central heating been turn on. Need to turn up the heating,(e.g. from 0 to 2, from 2 to 3)to stop the noise. There were high pitch "beeps" from ground floor which woke everyone in house at 3am and 3:30am on the first night. Sounds like the smoke detector but we were not sure. However,...

Gilpin View"Amazing weekend.Bit awkward to find as we came in from kendal way ..Sat nav tookus throughmiles of one car wide road but its a paradise corner with stream and garden areas.. Ghyll Bank Byre
Ghyll Bank Byre"Lovely property, very convenient for Windermere area. It was handy that all three bedrooms have their own ensuite. It was lacking a little in kitchen utensils if you wanted to properly self-cater. There were some odd little items missing like hand soap in the bathrooms and only one toilet roll in each room, but otherwise clean tidy. It was particularly hot when we were there, so a fan or two would have helped. The door closers could do with adjusting - a couple of the doors slammed loudly if...

Top Kendal Hotel Reviews
Castle Green Hotel In Kendal, BW Premier Collection
"Beautiful hotel, clean with, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast."
Stonecross Manor Hotel
"Very nice place to stay, they are doing some renovations so looks like it’s only going to get better"
The Gateway Hotel
"We have friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and a very restful night! Nicely decorated and would recommend to anyone!"
Riverside Hotel
"Stayed for two nights here in August 2026. Parking was included and undercover so great for a short stay to just leave it there safely. The room was ok, if not a little tired. With marks on the wall, and MDF work surfaces looking frayed. The room was comfy, excellent mattress and pillows, though in a heatwave, due to it being an old mill it was stifling hot. A fan was available but that just moves the heat around. Plugs were sparse, and you'll need a usb charger plug as they aren't integrated plugs yet. Staff were fabulous, really helpful, the barman was a hoot, and so friendly with guests. English Breakfast was fresh and hot, there was a plentiful choice of cereals, fruit and drinks too. We ate at night in the Tannery room, burger and a small fish and chips, both were plentiful and fairly priced. Finally it was a welcome bonus to have a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room available for guests to use after a full day discovering the lakes. A really pleasant stay, the hotel rooms could do with a bit of updating, though the gym, pool, bar were fresh, but it's all a matter of cost."
Station Inn
"A family of 4 we stayed in Troutbeck, it was a really large room and bathroom for four. Lovely extra touches like tissues, room diffuser and body lotion. It was a little hot as it’s in the attic but it was the hottest day of the year ! We drove and there’s a massive car park but it would not be an easy walk uphill from the station."
Watermill Inn & Brewing Co
"Great location for Windermere, and the food was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely return if in the area."
Hare & Hounds
"The bedroom and bathroom were lovely, the breakfasts amazing, the staff always happy to help and the location just off the A590 was perfect for exploring the whole Lake District. My only rejoinder was that the stairs to the rooms are a little challenging for someone like me who is mobility impaired. Additional banisters and/or handles would greatly help but I managed overall and we were very happy with our stay. Evening meals were exceptional too. I would rank the Hare and Hounds in Levens as being in the top 1% of bed and breakfast inns I have stayed in out of maybe 150 visited in he past 5 years. Thoroughly recommended!"
Gilpin Bridge Inn
"Stayed here one night on our way home to Scotland. The property is easy to find with plenty free parking. Easy check in with helpful, friendly staff. The room was very clean, tea and coffee in the room, everything you need. We had a meal here in the evening and it was delicious. Really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Gilpin Bridge Inn."
