My husband and I stayed here while celebrate my 35th birthday and we had a lovely time. The property is out of the way in tiny Stony Creek but getting to Lake George and surrounding towns was easy enough and being there was peqceful and relaxing. It was very cold outside while we were there but we were very warm inside with all the heaters and the fireplace. It also gets great natural light inside during the daytime, the photos don’t do it justice. Much recommended, thank you Sue!

If you want to stay in a quiet place, this is it, but the cabin is right next to the main lodge which is not evident in the pictures or description. If you want a clean place, this is not your best bet. I understand it is a cabin in the woods, but the spider webs inside could have been removed before we arrived. The dishes and dish drainer were dirty, so we washed dishes before and after we used them. The windows had smudges and handprints on them and the kitchen table was sticky. We would have enjoyed it more if it was clean when we arrived, especially considering the price per night and the fact that guests are asked to sweep, vacuum, clean all surfaces and strip all the beds before you leave. Even though there is supposed to be a cleaning company.

Home away from home
It was a pleasant stay in these cabin, everything Is there for cooking. Cabin is bigger than it looks on photo & Sue always reply if I have a question. The road is scenic and 30-40 mins drive to lake George village. Follow Sue instruction how to get there, our navigation made a short cut and got us in a very narrow zigzag road by the mountains, not sure what town but it’s very dark and look dangerous to drive at night. Overall our stay is pleasant and quiet.

Booked for four nights, stayed for two. The property had an old broken down truck parked in front of the cabin. That cute little deck over looking the pond? Rotted out. And the bugs. Because the property had clearly not been mowed in awhile and the mowing was not done either far enough in advance nor was it far enough back, there were just gnats everywhere. We tried every anti-bug method we could think of and we were still swarmed every time we walked outside. Even my dog didn't want to go into the yard. The supposed trails were neither marked nor mowed. The shower drain was not working; we ended up plunging it. Overall, run down and not at all as described. The best points were that is is quiet and there is a lovely view of the night sky. Lovely song birds.

Quant Adirondack Stay
The cabin was wonderful. Despite freezing conditions outside, the cabin was very cozy, and we were provided with many heating options. It is very secluded, but there is plenty to do in the cabin - puzzles and games were provided, and there's a tv in the main room. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking and baking utensils, and it's clear a lot of consideration has gone into the accommodations to make a visit as enjoyable as possible. Overall wonderful experience and we look forward to visiting again soon (ideally in warmer weather).

awesome mountain retreat
I loved it. Wood stove. Clean mountain air. Cozy quarters. Population of Stony Brook, NY - 600. Walk a quarter mile in the woods behind you and you come close enough to a beaver dam that you can touch it. Leave your cell phone at home, you can't get texts or wifi, although you can get wifi on your laptop. I went by myself for a retreat and this was the perfect place. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Get Away
This property was more than we hoped for! It was clean and ready for our arrival. It is very comfortable and well stocked. We found the property and surrounding area to be picturesque and peaceful. Sue answered all of our questions very quickly. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful get away.

Don’t look up… Or down
I am not one to usually complain, but there were mouse droppings in the kitchen, on the coffee table, and on the floor. There were cobwebs with dead insects in the webs all over the ceilings. Dead insects in the toothpaste holder. Hair in the drain of the shower. I understand you are trying to keep cleaning costs low, but these are small things that take minimal effort. The cottage would have been very nice, otherwise. I understand that the mice problem may be difficult to deal with, but there were mouse droppings on the coffee table and in the kitchen that we noticed as soon as we checked in, indicating a lack of effort when/if cleaned.

Very Quiet
Sue helped get the internet running. A storm came through the area and knocked the power out (no electricity) Sue was there with an outdoor power cord attached to a generator(nice). There are more deer and turkeys there than there are Stony Creek residents.

Comfortable Relaxing Peaceful
The area is very tranquil and peaceful. All creature comforts are available. Abundant wildlife in area, so if one is not familiar with that please be cautious. Much history in the area. The cabin comfortable with a mix of past with the present as much as the area. Fire-ring outside, creek within walking distance. The only improvement is backporch covered area. We greatly enjoyed the stay and area. Sad to have to leave so soon. Would like to thank Susan for having a place availble!!!

A very special stay
It was very beautiful picturesque property. It had plenty of room for a very comfortable stay. There was nothing we needed while we were there. Plenty of towels, blankets, very cold fridge, fans if it got too hot. Kitchen was a perfect size. It rained every day while we stay but we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. We saw lovely family of deer right in the backyard it was quite special. Definitely will visit again.

Great secluded & quiet location
Super cute cottage with great backyard. So very quiet and secluded which is what we wanted. Big dog friendly! Close to awesome hikes & day trips to Lake Placid & Lake George. Waking trails just out the back door. Clean & comfortable- only downfall was there is no AC, we visited in July and it rained & high humidity and no way to dry the place out.

Peaceful and Secluded Weekend Getaway
My family and spouse loved spending the night here at the Cuckoo’s Nest! We thoroughly enjoyed the sweeping views of the surrounding foliage and comfortable beds. It was a great value versus a hotel and would definitely come back if given the chance!

If it was cleaner it would be MUCH better
Please heed the other comments about the cleanliness, particularly if you like a tidy space. The bedroom roof is leaking, leaving the ceiling and wall stained, and smelling musty. There are cobwebs in nearly every corner of every room, dust bunnies on all the wood trim, and random dog hair everywhere. The vacuum roller brush does not work, so the carpet in the bedroom is super dirty. All the towels smell musty, and the bedding is super cheap so there is a lot of pilling on the sheets. The bathroom fan intake was so filthy, we disassembled it and cleaned it for our own peace of mind. The outdoor space is unkempt and overgrown. When you try to sleep 7 people in a one bedroom space, and ask your guests to do their own clean up before they leave, this is the end result. We liked the location, it was convienent for our trip, but as experienced VRBO users the property maintenance was very disappointing and frankly grossed us out.

Excellent mountain getaway
Awesome cabin on a quiet mountain road with trails and views. Cabin was well equipped. Brought our two dogs they loved it! If you’re looking for a clean peaceful retreat away from everything this is the place. Hiking trails are awesome. Not far from a general store and only a half hour from Warrensburg/Lake George area. We recommend it highly!

Quick Adirondack Getaway
The cottage was very clean and cozy. We felt exceptionally comfortable and relaxed in the space. Sue included many little touches inside that made our stay special. We spent time hiking on the property and greatly enjoyed the solitude. There is a little creek and pond on the property that added to the calm of our visit. The kitchen is small but mighty, preparing our meals here was easy. The cottage is also close enough to towns if you want to do takeout. We would go back.

This cozy, quirky place was just right for my husband and I and our pup. The cottage's many windows were great for soaking in the beauty of the property, and the paths on the property made for very nice morning and evening walks, especially with the fall colors all around. Respite from the city
We enjoyed our time at the Cuckoo's Nest. I am not a fussy housekeeper but the cabin could use a thorough cleaning. We didn't see the resident mouse but it did leave droppings on the counter every night. Other than those two fixable things, the backyard is scenic, it was wonderful to sit by the water and read, and we used the grill several times. Overall it was a good experience.

Fun stay, with a few caveats
The cottage was exactly like the pictures, except a bit dirtier than we would have liked. We also saw a mouse and the shower was clogged. The outdoor furniture by the fire pit was not in good condition, but serviceable. Other than those fixable things, it was a very nice remote cottage on lovely grounds. We appreciated that the cabin was stocked with firewood and basic cooking supplies were provided. We loved our afternoon exploring the Dean Homestead Trails nearby.

Quarantine Oasis

This cabin is very cute with lots of windows with beautiful scenery all around it. When we went there was a snow storm so we were with out power from Friday afternoon to Sunday night. It did not really matter because we still had two sources of heat, running water and a gas stove. The property manager made sure we had lanterns for light and even ran an electric cord from her generator down to our cabin in case we needed to charge our phones. If you are looking for something off the grid this is a wonderful place to rent.
