Short Getaway
We loved the lay out of the two sets of tables and chairs and two sitting areas, kitchen area in between. Lots of windows to enjoy the light on the river at sunset and sunrise. A cozy place for hanging out and close to things to do. Appreciated also the history of it.

Lovely place with a view.
Lovely place. Didn’t realize all the bedrooms were upstairs but we made it work with the pull out sofa for one of our older friends. Loved the water view. Very peaceful. WiFi and phone signal was minimal. Plenty of space and seating. Great appliances.

Beautiful stay by the Ohio River
This was a wonderful house with gorgeous views of the Ohio River. We sat for hours in the evening on the front porch watching barges. The view was particularly magnificent because it was fall, so foliage was brilliant. The house had spacious but cozy rooms to hang out, eat and watch TV in. Beds and bedrooms were very comfortable with a great views. The house was close to beautiful Madison, with good restaurants and a riverside park. Sonia was delightful--so helpful and friendly, but very respectful of her guests' privacy. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay here!

Quaint place with fantastic river views
This is a very charming place. Only about 2 miles from downtown Madison. Great views of the river, particularly from the front porch. It is on a fairly busy road but we weren’t there during the day and the traffic is light at night. It was very clean. Sonia, the host, is very easy to work with. Recommend this for a small family or group of friends.

Very nice place , clean ,comfortable . Lot of amenities. Fully furnished. Plenty of towels. It says you can see river from all rooms and it does. Close to downtown Madison. Sonia is a great host. We have a miniature dachshund and he was welcome. We will return in the future.

Girls Trip
This property has a open layout which is awesome. The steps upstairs are a little steep/close and you need to watch your head as you come down them. Sonia was a great help with any question/issue we may have had while there. The view is just lovely. The cars do travel very fast down this road so there is that sound going by but you get used to it. Overall it was a good fit for our trip. Madison is such a lovely and friendly town. We will definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality.

Great spot in Madison!
Cute little house sitting right on the river near Madison, Indiana. Property manager was responsive and the home was well-equipped for our hiking and weekend of exploring in Madison. Would definitely stay again!

Peaceful place to stay
This house was the prefect place to stay during our visit to Madison. House is very roomy, clean, bed was very comfortable. Just a short drive to town. Hope to make a visit to your charming town again and would love to stay here again.

Quick Weekend Getaway
This property had great views of the river. We were in the area for a gathering so we did not spend much time at the property but was intrigued by its uniqueness. Sonia was great to work with. Just as advertised, and just what we needed
This place was exactly as advertised. Super smooth reservation, even when I messed it up, easy check in, things were what we expected. Plenty of room for the two of us and our dog. Could of used a gas grill, but that is really the only thing we didn't have that we would of used. Clean, plenty of towels and other supplies. The road is very close to the house, but once we went to bed, I never noticed the road noise. Even had the fun of a torrential downpour our last night and water seeped into the house along the back wall which is built into a hill. Owners told me over the phone where a drain was, and he was there within minutes to help and make things right. Act of God but they offered us another night to make it right. Can't ask much more than that. Super owners!

A very nice place, pet friendly, and very clean. A few more bugs than we'd hoped for, but it just seemed no one had been in there for a while. Just a suggestion - upstairs bathroom could use a towel rack near the sink/toilet. EZ check in/out.

Monica, Yes, down near the river we do have much more wildlife than other places. Thanks on the towels, and yes, definitely pick it up from the shelf they're on before you get in! You may have missed the hooks right around the far end of the shower.

Stink bugs everywhere. The upstairs was hot. tried opening the windows no screens. Sliding patio door in upstairs dangerous. No screen and goes right out to the roof.

Hi Cindy, sorry about those, its season and that place is like a wilderness, we don’t wish to spray so there are occasional invaders from the outside. Also there is a switch for the air conditioner, I’ll mark it better. And thanks for the screen door notice. I hope next time you will let us know these things so we can fix them during your stay.

The Lucky RiverHouse was exactly as advertised only better! Such a charming home, recently updated but has lots of history. A very clean and very comfortable home and the owner was always available and responded quickly to my questions. Close to Madison and a great view of the river. We would definitely stay here again!

Comfy stay in historic Madison
How fun to stay in a former trading post and casino! The property offered plenty of challenges to the owners as they updated electricity, plumbing, heat and air, but they met the challenge. We were comfy and absolutely loved watching the sun rise over the Ohio. This was a great ‘home base’ as we toured downtown Madison and hiked Clifty Falls. Thank you for the lovely stay!

The Wifi was very slow and shower water pressure was low and cut out frequently. Need a bigger sauce pan. Heater located in one spot and didnt heat bedrooms well. Otherwise clean and comfortable.

Chellie, I wish you would have contacted us, besides the slowish wifi- (we are in the country with satellite wifi) with all of these things we could have helped you. For those reading-there are more space heaters in the home if the other heat isn't enough. Water is on a pump, and it typically will turn off ONCE per shower but no more than 3 seconds. And thanks, I will put more pots and pans, you are correct on that.

We were able to get this house last minute and we were thrilled to be able to bring our dog with us. The adjoining bedrooms worked well with having younger kids as they prefer being closer to Mom and Dad at night when we are in a new house. We enjoyed our time in the house, at Clifty Falls and in Madison. It was a Fun and Easy trip!

Convenient location & wonderful views!
The house was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked for us to do some cooking. The fans and window A/C units keep the place comfortable and provide white noise that blocks out traffic sounds very effectively. With the busy road, I'd recommend for adults or families with older children. It's an easy/quick drive into Madison to walk the riverfront or check out the shops. Sonia was very responsive and helpful!

Nice Little Retreat
We came into the area to photograph a wedding and stayed pretty busy for the two days we were in town, but returning to this peaceful this rental in the evening was such a treat. The upstairs recliner with a river view was the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee too. The property is very unique with some fun and interesting details that highlight it's historic vibe. Definitely enjoyed this rental.

Great Madison, IN Vacation
The view of the Ohio River from this property is excellent. Although the property is advertised as air conditioned, it does not have central air. There are two window air conditioners upstairs and large fans downstairs. When we first arrived, temps in Madison were in the 90’s and heat index was over 100 so it took awhile to cool down the property. It has well water but the owners provide a filtered water system for drinking and cooking.

Awesome Sunrise/Sunset Views Over the Ohio River
So cool to stay in a home with such history! So close to everything! And such a perfect view of the Ohio River from the main bedroom. Plenty of parking and area to walk a leashed dog (always appreciate venues with generous pet policies). Although we were only two people, there were plenty of seating areas for larger groups. Very generous amount of towels were supplied and there was even laundry soap for use with their washing machine. Adding some clarification to the owners note on possible height considerations (their restoration of this historical property was wonderful): My husband is 6' 4"… I think that at 6' 2" all ceiling beams would be easily cleared. There are two places with low ceiling areas that should be noted (but were easy to navigate): going up the stairs is easily accommodated and marked to avoid any surprises. The main floor bathroom could use the same kind of reminder markings as that used on the stairwell.

This sits on the Ohio scenic byway right along the Ohio River. Sitting just outside of Madison. Property is clean and stocked well with items you my need. The owner is prompt in any questions and is very nice.

Lucky River House

This is an interesting place, the host gives you some history about it along with the instructions. It's comfortable and has a lake cottage feel. The only issue would be that if you were very tall the ceiling on the stairs is short; we are are pretty average in height and didn't have an issue. The bedrooms were fine, the second bedroom is more off to the side of the master and right next to the stairs so that wasn't an issue for us at all. We had a great stay and would absolutely go back.

Private, spacious, views for days! Entertainment area is amazing for cooking and hosting while playing games or watching tv. Hosts were extremely friendly, attentive and welcoming. Madison stay for Hanover 2021 Graduation
Lots of vultures! I love them!! The view of the Ohio River is serene. I’ll never get sick of it! The reflecting moon rising over the river is spectacular! The barges and speed boats are cool very soothing to watch. Its quiet! The house is on the road side. It was Memorial weekend. I’m guessing more busy than usual, still peaceful. We all slept well! Very comfortable and clean. I wish we stayed here the first time! I would have come back more often. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A Great River Experience

When I read this review I was shocked since the guest did it contact me about it. The hot water heater is new-2021. I asked the next guest and he said it was not a problem with pressure or hot water. I’m thinking maybe she didn’t know how the shower handle worked. I will put clear instructions in the bathroom. The pressure in my own home is less and I’m happy with it.
