Bachelor Party Getaway
This was everything a group of 20s-30s guys could ask for in a location to get together and relax. Ladies weren’t there, but I’m sure they would have loved it too. Perfect location. Beautiful scenery. Wonderful lookout for morning coffee. Fire pit, games, sprawling lawn, access to hiking and dirt biking trails, big kitchen full of appliances. Great showers. Sauna. Far enough away to feel like an adventure, but close enough to be convenient. Everything was spotless on arrival. The whole property was full of amenities and extra little touches to make things more convenient. Great host. Very easy to communicate with. 10/10 would recommend for any occasion.

Perfect escape
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. The house is so nice, the kitchen is so well appointed, they have thought of everything you might need. The range of activities was so fun from pickle ball, to darts, ping pong etc. we loved sitting at the deck at the top of the hill with the beautiful view of the mountains.

Whippoorwill Manor Farm is a special place!
I stayed with my family (11 in total), ranging from 8 to almost 80 years old. Whippoorwill was a truly unique property, and experience, for us all. The home and area are beautiful and there's so much to see and do on the property. The home is incredibly well-stocked and the owner was fantastic to work with. We'll definietly return. Highly recommend!

Fall Retreat
Whippoorwill is a wonderful property and perfect for our group of 10 people. The foliage was still brilliant and the weather was nice enough for us to grill one day. They have everything you could possibly want for cooking and recreation. The host and caretakers are very easy to get in touch with and are lovely people. We highly recommend this property!

Fall gathering with friends
The Whippoorwill Manor Farm was true to the photos as a beautifully and thoughtfully restored farm house and property, perfectly situated in the blue ridge mountains. So quiet and peaceful! It was ideal for our group of nine, and could clearly accomodate more guests very easily. There are plenty of physical activities if desired, including hiking both on and off the property. The pickleball court got some spirited use! The farm is also a place to simply sit, relax, and enjoy, with comfortable seating both inside and out. The farm kitchen is fully equipped, and there was ample seating to share meals at the indoor or outdoor tables. Recommend taking in the sunset on the upper platform, We had a campfire under the stars each night. Eric could not be a more responsive host, and he takes care of his guests in every way. I would unhesitatingly recommend this property to any group, of any age!

Just as wonderful as i remembered.
Our group of 13 ladies returned after 8 years for a weekend to recharge physically, mentally and spiritually. We wandered through the woods, enjoyed the pickle ball court and cooked great healthy meals in the very well-stocked kitchen. This farm is definitely a place of retreat!

Fantastic Stay
We had a great time at the Whippoorwill Manor Farm. The property is amazing and the hosts and caretakers were great. The hosts have thought of everything in terms of amenties. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances, utensils and tools, and dishes, and the ice maker is a nice touch. Outside we enjoyed the sauna, game room, fire pit, ping pong table, bicycles, pickelball court, basketball court, hiking trails...all of it. Hope to return soon!

Amazing Property and Weekend
The property is spectacular. The house is well stocked, comfortable and had everything (and more!) than we needed. There was a ton to do on the property itself and hiking was a 20 minute drive. We will definitely be back again!

Amazing weekend
The house and property are amazing. The host has made check in and out very clear and is very easy to get a hold of and communicate with. My friends and I held a chamber music weekend and had a wonderful time playing and using the amazing kitchen. We’ll probably be booking again this year!

Still the best!
We try to come to Whippoorwill Manor Farm at least once a year. Every year new amenities are added and the house is well kept and clean. We absolutely love visiting and hope to be back many times in the future. This time we did a lot of cooking indoors, and they had every piece of equipment we needed. The owner/property manager is a super efficient communicator. Thank you for providing such an amazing place to build more memories!

The PERFECT getaway retreat!
We stayed here as a family and made this our home base for my son's wedding. It could NOT be a more perfect place to stay and we definitely want to come back another time. Fantastic Stay
We had a lovely time at this property. The location was breathtaking and so very peaceful- a nice escape from our normal lives in the busy city! We were together for my parents’ 40th anniversary and there were plenty of activities nearby (wineries, hiking, Shenandoah NP, etc) but also plenty to do at the rental- hiking, ping pong, shuffleboard, basketball, darts, corn hole, honestly any game you could probably think of. We had a great time hanging out with the surrounding nature and Eric was extremely helpful and responsive every step of the way. Would definitely recommend this magical place!

Perfect for families
The house has lots of room for family activities; games, meals, etc. There is a ring for making a fire for s'mores. Hiking abounds either on the property or nearby National Forests. We have stayed here several times.

Men's Weekend Retreat
Our church has been using Whippoorwill Manor Farm for Young Adult retreats for about 10 years now. We have never been disappointed, it is a wonderful place to relax and find restoration from the stress of the world. Eric is always helpful and at this juncture, has become a friend.

Family Wedding Weekend
Look no further....this rental was sooo amazing! We traveled to Etlan for my daughter's wedding. We can not say enough about how spectacular our stay was. The home and property had a lot of charm with fun and unique amenities-from the porches and patios to the the numerous yard and recreational games, not to mention an amazing firepit. We enjoyed star gazing, roasting marshmallows and having our favorite beverage on the hilltop deck which overlooked the property and the beautiful mountain landscape. The house was very spacious (kitchen, dining area, bedrooms and living areas) with lots of room to move. Also, the beds were very comfortable-we all got great sleep. Eric is definitely a super host. He left a nice welcome bag and information about local points of interests, as well as supplying the house with many of the conveniences that you would have in your own home. My family had such a wonderful time, they requested that come here annually.

Lovely property in interesting area
Our family enjoyed our stay with so many things to do in the area. The serenity of the house was relaxing - with fun highlights like the cows that got loose and wandered by. The generator kicked in during a brief power outage caused by a storm just as it should. The kitchen was a delight to cook in - plenty of space for several to move around each other. We highly recommend staying here.

Great place to stay! I can’t say enough about it! With a large family we never felt crowded. Lots of activities provided. We especially enjoyed ping pong and shuffle board. House and kitchen are well stocked with everything you need. Inventory of house is very helpful in finding everything. We would definitely go back if the opportunity presents itself. We do wish the windows had screens to open them in the evening instead of running the air conditioner but that is a country gal thing. Lol

Second trip as great as the first!
This was our second long weekend renting the “yellow farmhouse” in three years, and we were happy to return. There was plenty of indoor/outdoor space for the eleven of us to spread out over plus space for us to all be together. We made use of the trails, overlook deck, outdoor ping pong and the kids explored the big barn. We ended every night with a large fire pit and good conversation. The kitchen has all of the cooking gadgets & gizmos you may need (the pantry staples were sparse but I assume the house has been popular for weekend getaways from the DMV so it may be challenging to keep up), the grills are so clean they look new and having an ice maker plus beverage refrigerator is great for large groups in the warmer months. I know we will return this welcoming home again.

Fabulous Family Retreat for 15
Our stay at Whippoorwill Farm exceeded expectations, which were already running very high based on photos and previous reviews. No swimming pool, but nearly every other conceivable outdoor recreation was available for the 7 grandkids, ages 5 to 12, and the Slip and Slide we brought and set up on the hillside provided cool, wet fun on hot afternoons. The kids could not have been more excited about the communal bunk room, and the elders were delighted with the many porches, patios, and cool indoor spaces for quiet relaxation. The kitchen was better outfitted than our own kitchens at home, and the ring binder full of information about everything from Safety to Shopping was both helpful (look under "M" in the exhaustive index to find out where, exactly, to find the matches) and interesting, offering a short history of the farm and its transformation in recent decades. This was a GREAT place, and it provided what will surely be lifelong memories for our COVID-weary group!

The best!
This is the second time we stayed at Whipporwill. It's enchanting! The grounds are gorgeous, with several hiking trails that are well marked and maintained. The wildflowers and vistas are lovely. The house is immaculate, comfortable, and meticulously cared for. The kitchen is well equipped and has a generous array of basic supplies like spices, paper goods, ketchup, mayo, and Keurig coffee pods. The sports equipment (horseshoes, volleyball net, ping pong table, bicycles, etc) made the property a playground for 70-year-old adults. The house conveys a sense of history, as well as of a family that has loved and nurtured it. Don't hesitate to book this property!

The best!
My husband and I celebrated his 70th birthday here with two other couples. This property is magnificent! It is comfortable, homey, tastefully decorated, and immaculate. Beds were comfortable, and the house can easily accommodate many more guests than our party of six. The kitchen is as well equipped as our own, and includes a generous supply of spices, paper goods, and high quality cooking equipment. The owners have preserved parts of the original structure, which dates to the early1700's, and added on to make it a comfortable 21st century living space. The grounds are incredible, and include well-marked trails; we took a 1 1/4 hour hike on a hilly trail that included beautiful vistas. This is a special place - don't hesitate to visit!

Amazing family getaway experience
We took three generations to Whippoorwill for a getaway and some hiking. So many things to love about it for this purpose. First, Eric's a terrific and responsive host. Second, he and his family have seemingly thought of everything both in terms of supplies/amenities and activities. So in addition to the wonderful house and setting, we had all sorts of activities for all ages in our own little private park. In our few days we took advantage of ping pong, corn hole, horseshoes, the sauna, the game house with foosball and shuffleboard, the bikes and walking trails and the outdoor firepit for s'mores. The property also works wonders as a base for the many hikes in the area. We did White Oak Canyon one day, Old Rag the next. So nice to be able to get to the trail head in just 30 minutes, have a wonderful hike, then still have plenty of time for other exploration or to head back to Whippoorwill for all its above charms. Cool too feel the multi-generational history and care that's gone into making the place what it is. We'll plan to return.

February freedom from COVID 2021!
Our family of six adults (4parents, 2grandparents) and 6 children/grandchildren stayed at Whippoorwill Farms for 3 nights. It was everything as described on the VRBO website and more. Every conceivable activity and game was available. Lucky for us, we even had a night of snow and enjoyed sleigh riding at night on the sloping hillside on site. Cant recommend it enough!

A Shenandoah Beauty
This is our go-to place to relax and enjoy the Shenandoah. The place is perfect for large groups with or without children. The attention to detail is amazing. There are bikes, a ping pong table a game room, a sauna, a sand box with toys, great hiking trails and a house that is as comfortable as my own. There is plenty to do within 20 min, but I always prefer to relax and keep a fire going indoor or out. This place is worth every penny and the owners are delightful.

Perfect Family Retreat!
We love coming to Whippoorwill Manor Farm! This was our third visit and we had a another wonderful time. We had so much fun from spending time around the camp fire, to hiking, and to playing in the game room. It's great for both adults and kids. The house is extremely well taken care of and clean. It is well appointed with supplies to include raincoats, charcoal, and board games. The kitchen is fully supplied with pots, pans, ect. The house is important to the owners and it shows how they care for it. We cannot wait to comeback!

We didn’t want to leave
Whippoorwill Manor is a unique and comfortable home with many perks. We are a family that enjoys going out and being active, exploring the area we stay in, and maximizing our time enjoying the area and culture. We have never stayed in a place that captured us so well that we took an entire day and spent it exploring the grounds and amenities. The manor has so much to offer and we barely scratched the surface in our stay. Thanks Eric and family for making our stay so comfortable. We will be back for sure with friends in tow to take full advantage of what your home has to offer.

Memorable getaway!
We had an amazing time at Whippoorwill Manor Farm. The pictures are online are great, but don’t do it justice. The grounds are well-maintained and fun to explore, and the farmhouse is beautiful and very clean. Its full of antiques and memorabilia, and it’s layout is perfect for a big group. There is so much to do on-site—we couldn’t even fit it all in during our two day stay! We will definitely be back!

Amazing Gathering Place
Our family spent several days together at this central location for all of us. We had a wonderful time with our children and grandchildren. This home was above and beyond our expectations. A beautiful, historic home, yet comfortable and kid friendly. Between the rolling hills, the wooded area, the hiking trails, yard games, game room, indoor toys and games, bikes, our grandkids (and us adults) loved this place. We were pleased with the comfortable beds, exceptionally well stocked kitchen, rooms to congregate and socialize, or play games or watch a movie. Part of the home is a log cabin and we loved all the old plank hardwood floors and all the history of the home. This is an absolutely wonderful place for a family (or others) to spend time together!!

Celebrating 50 year anniversary - socially distanced
We needed to rethink how to celebrate our grandma/granddad's 50th in a different way and getting together here with all the fun games to play and outdoor fun was perfect. They love history and so this house was great but updated with all kinds of high end modern ammenities and plenty of things to do and explore.
