Family getaway
We stayed at the lovely property so that we could attend a family reunion at Lost River State Park. The park was only about 7 miles from the house. The home was lovely. Clean and well maintained. We loved the front porch swing and my 12 year old son spent time on the swing off the front porch. We put on water shoes and explored the creek out back too! The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook with food we brought as there are not stores close by. We plan to stay again next year! I would suggest bringing drinking water if you don’t like the sulfur smell from well water. It is quite strong. The AC was not able to cool the house so we opted to turn it off and open the windows since it was cool overnight. The pool mentioned in the listing and pictured is no longer there. Just a heads up for those thinking they can take a dip. Nice house with all the comforts of home!!!

A delightful cabin getaway
The cabin was very clean (and clear of bugs) and felt very homey. Communication with the hosts was quick and easy and we found them to be very accommodating. The check-in/check-out was super easy! The home was well stocked with all the needed essentials. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens and towels. The outside had some nice areas to sit and relax or take a nice nature stroll. The place was not well marked (just a had the street number on a vertical pole, which if you were arriving at night or driving too fast, you might miss...however, GPS worked well to get us there. MAKE SURE to have the GPS driving directions already on your phone before you hit the 5 mile to location since cell phone service is non-existent until you get to the place and hook up to their wifi. Then, it works well while at the cabin. Not a lot of options to eat out near the place, so make sure you do a little meal planning ahead of time. The nearest Dollar General does have nice food options if you need some stuff. The only negative about the place was the strong smell of sulfur coming from the water (safe to drink and it doesn't stick to your skin when showering). There are some air diffusers in the place, but it doesn't mask the odor well. Eventually, we did get used to it! With that being said...make sure you bring plenty of drinking water/beverages if you don't want to drink/use the water. Our family enjoyed our stay there. We will most likely be back to stay!

A great weekend getaway!
The cabin was very private & beautiful which we loved . The stores were not as close as we thought. Not to happy about our 6pm checkin time. We should've gotten some money off for that. From the other reviews the sulphur smell from the water was very strong & the chroline was also strong in the pool it burned our eyes real bad. We only were left with 2 garbage bags barely no dish soap & there were alot of bugs & carpenter ants in the cabin. The shower water pressure was very low & the kitchen sink. Other than that We had a great time my kids loved the pool !!

Beautiful location with some difficult flaws
First and foremost, the property is gorgeous and well-maintained. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the pool room, the front deck, and the charming ambience (when possible - see below). We did have a few problems, however, which severely detracted from our overall enjoyment, primarily the water. Other reviews have mentioned the sulfur smell from the tap/shower head, but it was so much worse than we had envisioned. The smell would permeate the house any time we washed anything or used the (single, centrally located) bathroom. A shower was completely out of the question, though I attempted it and and ended up nauseated by the end, as the smell was so strong. Air fresheners helped somewhat, but it put a definite damper on the experience. Secondly, while the property itself is truly peaceful and gorgeous, directly across the street is a very large cattle processing plant. We were treated to the sounds of heavy trucks and (on one occasion a claxon in the wee hours of the morning) fairly regularly, which disturbed the vibe for us as we tried to enjoy the front porch & lawn. Finally, before we arrived, the pool apparently sprung a leak, which made it unusable. This was one of the primary features we had all been interested in trying out, so that was a disappointment. Of course, things happen, but it's worth mentioning. Despite the above, I rate our stay as three stars because we had hours and hours of peaceful family time, the drive out there (from Virginia) was gorgeous, and the property was very well-maintained. Still, we would likely not return without some sort of solution regarding the odor of the water and an assurance that the pool had been fixed.

Very secluded, road is very narrow and scary in some places. Not much to do nearby. Nice walking trail if you don't mind getting your feet wet. The cabin was very nice and clean but the sulfur smell could get overwhelming. Pool was cold and couldn't control the heater. The pool guy had to come do it for us. Then it still wasn't very warm. Overall it's a nice cabin if you don't mind the road and sulfur smell.

Nice spot with some acreage to explore
The cabin was a nice fit for our family of four. The property has a nice front and back yard for the kids to play. There was also a nature trail and swing. Inside there were toys and books for the kids too. There is a small pool, but be careful not to splash too much as there is no place for the water to drain. Kitchen was well stocked. The laundry machine was new and worked well. We felt at home in the cabin. Everything was clean too.

Family Birthday Getaway
Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay at Cove Run Cottage. We booked this trip last minute to celebrate my husband's birthday. My cousin recommended it and when we heard it had an indoor pool, we were sold! Our two daughters LOVED the pool! The house was very clean and comfortable, however the smell of sulphur was very intense! The area was quiet and the trail was nice for a quick hike. Wifi worked great, as we did virtual school and work from there. Although, there was no cell service. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely go back!

Leaf peeping and swimming equals happy
This home is clean, well equipped and the beds are comfortable. It’s located on a quiet country road in a beautiful area with parks and National Forest land nearby. There is WiFi available and it’s very fast. The smart TV was easy to operate and did offer a good number of channels as well as the ability to log into your Netflix account, etc.. I’m a lap swimmer but had never used a swim spa before. I had to get a little help from the pool maintenance person, Andy, who graciously helped me get going. We also enjoyed the front porch swing and the fire pit on the patio. Helpful hints - You won’t have the code for the WiFi until you get into the house AND you probably won’t have cell service so be sure to jot down the phone number, directions and door code in advance. Also, the water has a heavy sulphur smell. The owner does provide some drinking water to get started, but there’s no way to avoid the smell in the shower. Good news is that it doesn’t linger once you dry off. Enjoy!

Absolutely wonderful getaway
The house is secluded and so cozy- the perfect place for a little getaway. Our family enjoyed sitting on the front porch, the enormous front yard (not pictured), roasting marshmallows in the fire pit on the back patio, the relaxing indoor pool, and exploring nearby Blackwater Falls. A few notes... The tap water smells like sulfur, so the owners provide water bottles and a 2 gallon container in the fridge but you may need to bring more for cooking and drinking if you are staying for a week. There isn't cell service at the cabin or much of Mathias, but the wifi at the house is good and there is a landline phone for local calls. The air conditioning is a central unit for the house from the hallway- just make sure you leave the doors to the bedrooms open at night and it stays very comfortable. The owner also has provided bundles of firewood for the firepit for $5 a bundle, and the TV allows you to sign in to Netflix, Amazon, etc. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we will definitely be back!

Perfect!
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. This is our first time doing this and we absolutely loved it. The children had so much fun and we had the chance to relax in such a peaceful place. The place is clean, cozy and relaxing! Tips: 1. get key code from property manager because it is not provided on email confirmation and no cell phone signal 2. Do not follow gps as it will take you to an abandoned cabin instead look for house number 3. Bring your own drinking/cooking water
