    Located in the Sax-Zim Bog birding area with access to the Whiteface river and the Alborn Penguilly loop of the state recreational trail.
    Our yurt is a unique and functional base for birding and exploring all year.
    We have a mile long loop trail on the property with an owl nesting box, bird feeders, wild blueberiy patch and occasional bobcat sightings and an audio report of a Conneticut Warbler in 2026.
    Ideal for birders wanting to explore the Sax-Zim birding area.

    Parking at primary property (2-minute walk to yurt)
    Wagon and sled available for gear transport
    Trail conditions vary by season (mud in spring/summer, ice in winter)
    Guests should anticipate natural wildlife sounds and occasional trail or road noise
    State trail can be active on weekends

    Well-behaved children and pets are welcome.
    Guests must inform hosts in advance if bringing pet.
    Failure to do so will result in a fee.
    Children and pets must not be left alone in the yurt.
    No more than 4 guests unless arranged with host ahead of booking.
    No partiers please.

    This stay is best suited for 4 nights or fewer.

It’s was a great stay even in -6 degrees weather. It’s an off grid yurt on an amazing property. Came up for birding to get some rare species. Definitely check out the local bar and grill, some of the most friendliest people around.

So many wonderful things about our stay: the yurt itself (clever and comfy), our host (so helpful and friendly), and the local area (when they say birders are welcome, they mean it). We came up to spend the weekend for our 30th anniversary and added to our bird life list. Memorable, and very much worth a repeat stay. This yurt takes "glamping" to the next level, so if you've ever camped and loved it... we highly recommend!

Great Winter Getaway

We had a wonderful time at the yurt. The wood stove is so cozy & we loved the quiet mornings with the birds at the feeders. It’s also close to Sax Zim Bog for exploring winter boardwalk trails. I would recommend this stay!

Great Stay!

We had an amazing stay in the cozy yurt in a peaceful, wooded bog area. Megan is a great host and ensured our comfort with thoughtful touches. The beautifully designed yurt felt like home, and waking up to birds chirping in the serene surroundings was unforgettable. We left rejuvenated and highly recommend this hidden gem for a relaxing, nature-filled getaway.

What an amazing place to stay! The Yurt is so charming and cozy, and has everything to make your stay perfect. The host, Megan, is a dream and provides all of the extras to make you feel at home. The Yurt was spotless and the bed was so comfortable. I felt like I was at the Yurt Ritz! It was magical listening to the night sounds - owls hooting, coyotes singing, and seeing a sky full of stars. I also saw wild turkeys and deer in the morning. I can’t wait to go back to this little retreat in the enchanted forest!

Anniversary heaven

From the moment we pulled up to the moment we left we felt at home. The property was gorgeous, the yurt was just as pictured. The amenities on site were exactly what we needed for a weekend away. I wish i could give this 6 stars. We will absolutely book again.

Sax-Zim Bog visit

We loved our stay at the Yurt. It was perfect, had everything we needed for our 2 night stay and we kept plenty warm overnight with the wood stove and electric heater. It was a bonus being so close to Sax-Zim Bog for getting to some spots before sunrise. We would stay again!

Sax-Zim Bog visit

Excellent accommodations and so close to Sax Zim Bog. The temperature hit a low of -21 or so when we were there and we stayed toasty warm in the yurt. It wasn’t even that bad going out to the heated outhouse.

We had a blast even in a short time staying at the yurt. We’ll be back to stay longer next time. Yurt has more than what you need as far as “camping”. Very relaxing and listening/seeing the wildlife within few steps from the yurt.

Super cozy yurt

Absolutely perfect. It was -28 degrees out, and we stayed cozy warm. Location is perfect for birding at the Bog, and the hosts are so kind and helpful. I came to the yurt last year, and fell in love with it. Definitely the perfect lodging for a Sax Zim Bog trip!

Great 1 night stay for road trip instead of busy Duluth

Had a wonderful stay in a gorgeous yurt. The owner was super friendly and everything was easy to find and lots of thoughtful items at the yurt. Loved hearing the birds and wolves. Way better alternative than Duluth if you are road tripping! Their friendly visiting cat was an added bonus and the kids loved visiting with him as he came by. Will definitely stay again next time we drive through.
