Cozy Bear Rock Cottage with hot tub

New for December 2023, we have added a saltwater hot tub!
Escape to the mountains and experience the serenity of rural life at our charming 2-bedroom cottage. Situated along a peaceful country road in a farming and hunting community, this cottage offers a cozy retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Gather with loved ones in the warm and inviting living room, featuring a gas stove that mimics the look of a real wood-burning fireplace (seasonal availability). The fully-stocked kitchen has all the essentials you need to cook full meals, and the spacious dining room features a table that seats 6. Start your day off right with a fresh cup of coffee from the coffee bar.
With 2 large bedrooms (1 on main level and 1 upstairs), this cottage can comfortably accommodate up to 4 adults and 2 children. Spend afternoons lounging on the front porch, or fire up the grill on the back deck, just steps away from a tranquil stream. In the evenings, gather around the fire pit under a large rock for a night of roasting hot dogs and s'mores.
The George Washington and Jefferson National Forest is just a 5-minute drive away, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is just 15 minutes away. Tackle off-road adventure through the unpaved national forest access roads, best accessed with a truck or SUV. Within 25 minutes, you can enjoy fishing at three different lakes or multiple trout streams, or take a 20-minute drive to the James River. There is also an off-road ATV trail 15 minutes away. If you're visiting Lynchburg's universities, you'll be just 35 minutes away.

There is a security camera that monitors the driveway/parking area and front of the house.

Other things to note
We recommend fueling up and stocking up on groceries and other essentials before arriving. Gas stations and a Dollar General are about 15 minutes away and Walmart in Madison Heights is 25 minutes. Another tip is to pre-download the area using G maps offline feature. Cell service is spotty around the house and National Forest areas.
We just installed a cell phone signal booster, but it seems Verizon is the only provider that has a boostable signal. We are still experimenting with the placement of the indoor antenna. Right now it is in the dryer/utility room, and that location will give your phone the fastest data speeds. We also just installed a mobile WiFi hotspot. The speeds are pretty slow, but that's all that is available right now. High-speed internet is supposed to be available in early 2024. A tv with a Roku stick is available to connect with your streaming accounts.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Great little getaway!
This property was the perfect place to unplug and getaway from the world. It was soothing to fall asleep to the sound of the creek right outside the main floor bedroom window. The kitchen has almost everything you need for at home meal prep except I'd advise bringing your own set of knives. The ones provided were okay, but not the sharpest and there was no bread knife. I know this is minor to most people. Also, I would have preferred stainless steel cookware, but what's there is workable. The hosts warned that the WiFi connection was slow, but for our needs, it was more than adequate. The goal was to enjoy the surroundings (nearby Blue Ridge Parkway was a lot of fun to do a kind of "hop on hop off" tour of our own), so this did not in any way affect our stay. Overall, I would definitely recommend this property, especially if you are looking to be surrounded by amazing views.

Great Place!
Had a really enjoyable time staying here. Zeb and Ellen really put in a lot of work into paying attention to detail to make it as nice as possible. Our kids really enjoyed playing with the toys and looking at the creek. I would recommend getting there while it is still light since the roads are really dark and challenging to drive especially when there is fog. Overall, it was a great choice and would recommend it as a nice cozy getaway location.
