Country quietness
Small creek adjacent from the house. It was only 2 people for the 2 bedroom plus a corner of the livingroom for the singlebed. 5 people could sleep comfortably. Quaint backporch. Kitchen was well equipped for our bring our own meals: mainly frozen dinners and deli meats. Microwave was our heat source. Didnt use the electric stove. Nearby countystore was a delight to visit. Well stock food pantry. Didn't use the store's restaurant. Look great but, we are hikers who want to spend time in the outdoors. Very close to the GraysonHighlandsStatePark but, be comfortable about driving very curvy two lane road to and from the park.

Grayson Highlands pony viewing
The gray cabin was cute, comfortable and conveniently close to Grayson Highlands State Park. I saw many ponies, including famous Fabio. Picturesque Big Wilson Creek is next door to the cabin. The mountains are beautiful. The people at the two general stores are friendly and helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Hiking-Family Vacation
The Grey Cabin was a perfect "base camp" that we came home to each evening after we hiked in Grayson Highlands. We loved eating outside on the porch and listening to the creek as well as sitting around the fire ring at night. The location is perfect and within a very short drive of the park!

Very cozy cottage. Host was very thoughtful in providing things one would normally forget when on a road trip such as canola oil spray and paper towels. It was a very relaxing area.

Cute little Cabin
Clean, perfect for our family trip to the VA Creeper trail bike ride as well as to Grayson Highlands to hike some of the AT. We didn’t get to use the onsite arcade or movie theater bc you needed change (change machine broken in the arcade) and then it was rainy so we didn’t pull our car around for a movie but still so cool to have right there and for free! Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect family vacation
As a family of 5 (toddler, 10yo, and 12yo) I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay to visit the fall colors and hike. It was close to tons of hikes, the creek was a blast (my son caught a trout right away), and the arcade was great for a rainy day. The listing is a little funny because the “fireplace” is just a heater, and the “whirlpool” is just a regular tub. There aren’t any measuring cups and no big soup pot, but other than that the kitchen had what I needed. It was clean and definitely cozy. The Grayson Highlands general store (a mile away) was a delightful visit, and one of our favorite hikes was walking up Briar Run rd (road across the creek) that follows the creek up the mountain. We had a great time and would definitely return to this rental. If you do the VA Creeper Trail, I recommend Blue Blaze bike rentals in Damascus; they went above and beyond to make our day on the trail a success.

Relaxing getaway
Had a wonderful time at this cosy cabin. Plenty of blankets but never even needed the heat. Sat around the fire it was so relaxing. All the modern conveniences made our stay very comfortable. We went hiking and celebrated a birthday at a fancy restaurant in Abingdon. Fall colors were spectacular.

Just right for me and my friends
We like to visit Grayson Highlands State Park to pick blueberries at this time of year, and while we are at it, we enjoy escaping the sweltering heat and humidity of piedmont NC. The Gray Cabin was comfortable and convenient. I liked to hear and see Big Wilson Creek too. We don't need fancy, but we surely liked the nicely furnished and equipped Gray Cabin. Being close to Grayson Highlands State Park was important to us, because we like to pick blueberries there every year at this time, and getting out of the sweltering heat and humidity of the NC Piedmont is much appreciated.

Perfect Location!
My cousin and I enjoy meeting up to hike and chose this area to spend time at Grayson Highlands State Park. Heather’s little cabin was perfect, literally down the street from the S.P. And the location of the cabin was so relaxing, right next to a babbling brook…ok, it was more of a creek, but babbling brook sounds better😊 It was perfect for soaking our tired feet after a full day of hiking! The cabin was perfect and had everything we needed! Thank you!

Beautiful river
Nice rustic cabin with beautiful river across the lane. River entertained our 5 year old for hours. Enjoyed the fire pit after we found wood at the local store. Tried to get access to the “communal” arcade but the owner didn’t get back to us about access or use of the wood.

lovely stay
We had two nights booked, but were only able to stay one due to the weather. The second night they were calling for snow and ice. We enjoyed the seclusion and location, for our short stay. The beauty of the are was nice especially the stream located next to the house. There was no cell service unless you were at the park. We did venture out to Jefferson just across the board, which had a lovely downtown area. The only down side of this place was the space heater in the house. It was cold the night we stayed so the heater ran constantly and was very noisy turning off and on all night .

Beautiful fall views!
We LOVED the view and proximity to Grayson Highlands. I enjoyed reading a book from the front porch and looking up at the beautiful fall colors. My kids loved exploring the creek and fell in love with a sweet dog down the road. It was a bit of a drive (45 minutes) down to Damascus for our Virginia Creeper Trail ride back up to White Top, but we went back a different route and enjoyed seeing even more beautiful views. If we had our own bikes, White Top is fairly close. Can't get better than smores by the campfire, ponies in the mountains, and gorgeous fall foliage.

The cabin was a great location for hiking at Grayson Highlands, only about three miles away. Lovely to be by the river. Plenty of room in the cabin and nice porch to sit on. Great breakfast one morning at the Corner Market, Troutdale.

The property was fantastic. Enjoyed finding unique rocks in the creek, campfire every night, gas grill worked great for our steaks. Our dog & teen son had a ball! Very little time spent inside but it was Surprisingly clean (I don’t know how they got an old house this clean & fresh), very well stocked with necessities, paper products, towels & extra bedding… This place is a gem, & I highly recommend (although I’d like to keep it a secret for ourselves). Note: bring what you may need, shopping, dining, etc not close at all.

Pre and post half marathon
It was great to stay here before and after the Grayson Highlands half marathon. There is lots of room. Still cute old home but they have upgraded well. It's not a hotel but we prefer the reality of a home. No heat in the bedrooms but really nice comforters!

Sweet Cabin in a Great Spot!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Our goal was to be close to Grayson Highlands State Park and this cabin achieved that. There was plenty of space for the 6 of us and the creek was an added bonus! I loved that there was a washer and dryer and my kids loved that there was cable tv. :p We will definitely return on our next trip to GHSP.

Great location within minutes to Grayson Highlands State Park
Classic farmhouse in a quiet valley. Shared driveway but didn't encounter any cars. We loved listening to the river and being so close to Grayson Highlands. While the kitchen offerings is quite modest, we were able to cook chili in the provided crockpot and found the essential tools. We would recommend guests to bring anything you use daily like sugar, olive oil, and aluminum foil. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets (and heater) for wintertime lodging. Having a w/d inside the bathroom was convenient as it was a wet time in the mountains. Regarding other things to do in the area, we loved the drive up to Whitetop Mtn and hiking to the Applachian trail connector or if you want a different hike, check out The Channels in Rosedale. It's hard to find houses within minutes to Grayson and highly recommend this one, especially for the pricepoint.

What you see is what you get
Very much as advertised. My family had a very peaceful two night stay. My 6 & 9 year old girls loved playing in and around the creek. A few notes you don’t get from the listing… the water pressure is great; the grill works well and is self igniting; there are a few general stores nearby with firewood for sale to use in the firepit. Kitchen is modestly appointed with the basics. We had a basic question and property manager responded very promptly. Overall a good find and we would stay again.

When I arrived I was greeted by the sound of the creek. I loved being able to sit outside and enjoy the quietness of the country. Working many hours. It was just what I needed. I was able to reconnect with nature and clear my mind. The interior design reminded me of my childhood. I would like to come back again.

Overall the property was a nice getaway. Great location, privacy and quiet. The cottage itself however, could use some TLC. We travel a lot, stay in B&Bs, hotels and rentals, some things are just a given. When we are out sighting all day, we like to come back to a place and just relax, the chair and couch were not comfortable and there was no place to put your feet up. No hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. Chairs around table, uncomfortable. Now to us these things matter, to anyone else, maybe you don't care. The last night there, we came home to no water, emailed, they suggested trying breaker first and management would be contacted. No luck with the breaker. In the morning, we would have liked to have had breakfast before checking out, but we packed up and left since we still had no water and had not heard from anyone. Now I don't want to give the place a bad review, just looking at it from our perspective.

Perfect stay
The property is clean and really close to Grayson Highlands park. You can set a bon fire for some smores behind the cabin. And there’s a creek next to it that you can hear the water flows. Unfortunately, we had to leave earlier than expected. But overall the experience was great!

Property was very clean. Wonderful stay and had pretty much all amenities. We were even visited by a very docile pet deer that roams about the area. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Mount Rogers and seeing the ponies. Property is close to a general store if you need supplies.

Less than 10 minutes from Grayson Highlands. Under 30 to Whitetop station. Plenty of space for kids to place, including a creek to play in. The place has all the basics you need and would definitely stay here again!
