My family and I had a pleasant stay here, despite some difficulties. I booked a large “family room” on Expedia but was given the wrong type of room at check-in. After 6 hours of traveling to get to the hotel, my exhausted family and I checked into the room the front desk gave us and we immediately noticed it was the wrong one. When I inquired with the front desk, they said their reservations team did not ask the property to reserve the correct room type matching my online reservation. The man at the front desk was quite apologetic (yet his hands were tied, as the room I’d actually paid for was no longer available), so he allowed us to see another room (still a downgrade but slightly larger) and we eventually switched rooms. Check-in hassles aside, the other problems we had were with the hotel's smelly carpets and bugs everywhere (I know it’s close to the bush, but a Marriott can’t be having dead bugs in the shower, millipedes on dark carpeting, and flying ants all over the restaurant at night).
On the flipside, the staff were always friendly (especially Nomsa at the restaurant!), the pool and restaurant areas were gorgeous (particularly in the holiday season), and the hotel restaurant had good buffets. Ultimately, I would recommend this hotel but would say CALL before you arrive, so you can ensure that the room type you’ve reserved online is the room type the property has reserved for your arrival. And I hope the hotel does some facility upgrades based on customer feedback!
