Joshua, I’m glad to hear that you and your friends had a great time and were able to relax and enjoy the outdoors in the mountain views. We have done a lot of upgrades and take any comment guests leave and use the opportunity to improve the accommodations. We have a few more, small enhancements to do inside the house and some bigger ones outside when the weather improves. What are you ask everyone to let us know what works well and what can be improved. And we stay there ourselves so we are doing the improvements for our guests but we get to try them out and make sure they are done well. We have gotten a lot of compliments on how comfortable the beds are and we agree and invite everyone to come try them out and get a really relaxing sound sleep in the mountain air this year! That's ironic that the terrible smell started as soon as you and your friends walked in, because it left with you and your friends! Really, I notified the cleaning crew and they confirmed there is no smell, the sliding glass door works and there is no "hole where the lock should be". I don't know what you brought with you, but I'm glad you didn't leave it in the house because we are very family oriented. You said you spent all your days at the wineries and breweries, so maybe you were mistaking my house for someone else's house? But seriously, I made a special trip to see this hole in my sliding glass door that wouldn't open an a smell so bad that you couldn't stand to be in the house all day. When I arrived, the door worked, I couldn't find a hole and the fishy smell had left with your little school of 2 fishy friends. It's unfortunate that you choose not to contact me with issues that you were contractually obligated to do - So we can come by and remedy the issue (real or imagined) and you can enjoy your stay and get what you paid for. When you choose this confrontational course of action and leave bad reviews instead of communicate, you spread bad Karma. So now you and your friends can't stay at my house and others will think twice about renting to a group that can't abide by the contract and will inflate imaginary issues after drinking all day with your 2 friends. The Guests who checked in the day you left found no problems, no fish smell and no hole in the door. Word gets around Kayla, some would say you are just being Moody.

PLEASE NOTE: We take comments like this very seriously and we follow up to validate that we 100% do NOT HAVE Bed Bugs. We have had quite a few groups stay since this claim and no complaints about them. We now have a 5 Star review on June 4th, 2023. So obviously we don't have a pest problem. Our cleaning crew stayed in the house immediately after this Guest complained and my family stayed 2 weeks ago. We checked everything and found no signs: no stains, no carcasses or exoskeletons, and no live or dead bugs. These insects are not small (3/4") and are easy to find if you are looking for them. I guarantee you that we do NOT HAVE nor have ever had bed bugs.

Why does this property/owner consistently have a vast majority of 5 Star Ratings and glowing reviews and then you read a 3 Star review that reports this property didn't meet their expectations? Hmm, I will explain what happened in this unique case to allay your concerns. First Concern: How can this property not have WIFI/Internet when the owner Proudly Promotes “Hi-Speed WIFI"? The fact is I pay a premium through Nelson Cable for The Highest Speed Internet/WIFI available from this provider. I always upgrade to the latest Cable modem because I am an IT guy and I have to have the latest/fastest high-speed connection when I work from this house which is regularly. You’re thinking: That's Great! Then why wasn't it available for these guests? Glad you asked! I called Nelson Cable that Saturday Night right after they reported the problem. Nelson Cable came out within 24hours and repaired the cable and informed me the Fiber cable was cut by construction next-door. So, the issue was resolvable within 24 hours, but the guests didn’t have access to this amenity. How could this have turned out better? I ask all guests to let me know when you check-in if there are any issues. If they contacted me Friday night, the WIFI would have been restored Saturday. As you see in the review, they arrived late and didn’t bother to contact me via Voice, Text or email. The Mountain Inn has WIFI and could have been used to contact me on Friday night. You may also wonder why 6 people didn’t have cell service. Coverage can be spotty on the mountain, but that depends on your carrier. I had AT&T and now have Verizon, both have coverage from the house, but it’s not perfect coming up the mountain. I can only imagine these 6 people had providers who do not have good coverage on the mountain, but that’s out of my control. Lack of Cell service is something that should not be used to give a poor review. I know, you’re thinking: “How do I know this doesn’t happen all the time? Please read the reviews to confirm the facts that over the past most recent 235 reviews and over the past 20 years the Internet has been interrupted 3 or 4 times. The overall rating of 4.7 is considered “Excellent” by VRBO and is required for me to be labeled a “Premier” host. Second Concern: “There are spider webs”: We do our best to take care of the spider webs. The spiders can rebuild them overnight because there are so many insects in this natural wooded setting. They are part of the “Web of Life” if you will. If you are really bothered by spider webs, I suggest you not vacation in the middle of the forest. I try to make this clear in the contract and the website. We also have Black Bears, Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes, Coyotes, skunks, skinks and salamanders, etc. We even have crayfish in the stream in the backyard. Third Concern: “I would expect to show up and have everything ready and not have to fumble around turning on the water and water heater after a late arrival.” I hope you are getting the idea of underlying issue of these concerns by now. If you don’t want to take 30 seconds to throw a circuit breaker and turn a water handle, I suggest you make a reservation at the Ritz. I believe the underlying issue is communication and setting expectations. I listed all these topics in the website and the contract. Although the cut Fiber cable is a very rare event. Recent improvements to the property is a new Granite Countertop in the Kitchen and new Sink/Faucet. I hope it helps make your stay a little more like the Ritz!
