Spacious and comfortable home on a 250 Acre Private Estate

If you’re looking for the ultimate cozy getaway deep in the country, you have found it at the end of a mile-and-a-half dirt road that leads to a 250 acre private estate. Offering serenity, peace and quiet for couples, groups and families, the Gate House is a beautifully constructed post-and-beam three-bedroom year-round house. There is an optional adjacent apartment available, never rented separately, if you would like 2 extra bedrooms. (Contact us for details.)

Note: From July 13 through August 10 2024, the property is rented by the week only, starting on a Saturday.

The rustic surroundings are yours for hiking, kayaking, or simply hanging out in the Adirondack chairs on the deck. Kids can run around and play all day on the grass or in the nearby walled garden, safe from traffic.

The Gate House is situated within the 250 acre "Lakefalls Lodge" estate and offers manicured lawns abutting acres of forest and water. The windows and wraparound deck have views of a private lake in one direction and Otter Brook in another.

The house has a fully equipped large modern kitchen and a propane grill on the deck. Other amenities include high speed internet, a wood-burning stove in the living area and a Solo fire pit on the deck, with plenty of wood for both provided without charge. We also provide canoes and kayaks without charge.

While Lakefalls is located deep in the woods, it's just a 20 minute drive to Keene, NH which offers lots of great shopping and good restaurants and bars.

NOTE: Dogs are welcome (with the exception of pit bulls and Rottweilers). There is a $50 fee per dog that will be charged before or on arrival.

Guest access
In addition to your totally private use of the Gate House, you'll be able to enjoy the Lakefalls grounds. Swim in the lake; enjoy cocktails on the turret of the stone walled garden; hike around the lake and across the covered bridge. There are miles of more serious hiking trails on the property and the adjoining 11,000 conserved acres. A canoe and kayak are available at no charge for use on our private lake, or you can paddle a couple of miles on Chandler Meadow which is a unique and very private wilderness area.

Easter weekend
We wanted a very quiet, private house to celebrate Easter with my daughter. This was the perfect place.... This cabin sits on 250 acres of a private estate. The pond, hiking trails, a covered bridge, and an old stone structure just added to the appeal. Our chocolate Lab had a blast exploring. We drove only once to the grocery store for all our food supplies. The stores are a bit farther than expected. There is a large fully equipped kitchen to make all of our meals, including a prime rib Easter dinner! Overall it was a wonderful and peaceful four days. The weather held up as well!!

LOVED this place and so did our dog!
We stayed at the Lakefalls Gate House for six days over Christmas to be near our daughter's family. The property is gorgeous -- thoughtfully designed landscaping to make the most of a remote spot in the NH woods. The house is instantly relaxing, nothing fussy, nothing worrisome for a dog or small child. Small enough for two of us to feel cozy and large enough to have guests and make dinner for seven. Through the many windows we enjoyed views of the lake, large lawn and surrounding woods while watching our dog joyously cavorting around. It was blissful. We want to visit again to see the place in all seasons of the year.

Incredible Lakeside Cabin in the Woods!
This gorgeous cabin is located on a beautiful property, where you have full access to canoes, hiking and the lake. The lake was definitely a highlight for us! Just a walk across the yard and we could swim and canoe and kayak in the lovely, clear lake. It's quite and restful with a babbling brook next to the cabin for a perfect ambience. The cabin itself is upgraded and spacious with high ceilings, comfortable furniture and plenty of room for our large group. Every single one of our group loved the cabin and had a wonderful time. We all agreed that the pictures and description do not do this place justice - we thought it would be nice, but it greatly exceeded our expectations!!! The hosts are so friendly and we explored the entire property, even canoeing up the Chandler Meadow. The detailed amenities (fluffy towels, soaps, full kitchen supplies, mosquito spray, extras...) were the icing on the cake! The ONLY drawback is the property is located about 15 minutes on gravel off the main road. But for us that added to the experience.

Beautiful and Peaceful
Our stay at the gate house was the perfect way to recharge and refresh. Every window of the gate house provides the most beautiful view. In the morning, I opened some windows and listened to the birds and brook nearby. My husband enjoyed taking our dog for a walk around the property. The gate house is furnished perfectly with a beautiful chef’s kitchen, comfy furniture, updated bathrooms, and outdoor seating. We had a wonderful time!! Don and Joyce were amazing hosts - answered my questions before arrival and so hospitable throughout our stay. I strongly recommend Lakefalls for anyone interested in relaxation and unplugging from a busy life! : )
