We choose Mela hotel due its location. It is close to Times Square and the theater district. The subway is only a block away as well as bus stops. The Good Morning America studio is on the corner and you can see celebrities as they leave the studio. The downside is that there is no ice machine and you need to call the desk for that service which has a hefty fee. Also you cannot use the refrigerated mini bar for your own personal use. I was going to put a yogurt in it for the next morning, but if you move anything, you will be charged as it is computerized. All in all it is a nice hotel.

Thank you for your recent stay at Hotel Mela, we're thrilled that you chose to stay with us over the many, many hotels in the Times Square neighborhood. In addition, thank you for taking the time to share your very positive experience with us and the online community.
The Hotel Mela building was erected in 1933, not as a hotel, so retro-fitting ice machines would be a cost-prohibitive project, nor do we have the square footage to accommodate this. We would like to correct you, there is absolutely NO fees associated with having ice delivered to your room.
We do look forward to welcoming you back to Hotel Mela in the near future and thank you in advance for recommending us to your friends, family and colleagues. Thanks again and all the best!
