Very convenient and beautifully furnished hotelPosted Oct 1, 2015
Looked good on the website but exceeded expectations on arrival - reception and rooms are beautiful. Tons of space with lovely bathroom and decorations fantastic. 10-15 min walk to nearest subway over Pulaski bridge then one stop to Grand Central station (right in the heart of the action!) Some great eateries within walking distance- highly recommend giving the Box House Hotel a try - certainly get more hotel for your dollar/pound/euro than in Manhatten!

Lovely Well Appointed Hotel with Helpful staffPosted Sep 24, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, friendly staff, comfortable, well appointed rooms
Cons: Storage in the bathroom, more suggestions by staff of quality local restaurants to visit, cleanliness of surrounding area
Location: Safe neighbourhood, but dirty and run down. Good cafes and restaurants in the local area. Good Metro connections to Brooklyn and Manhattan
Box House is a lovely hotel located in an up-and-coming area in Brooklyn. The hotel rooms are well appointed and comfortable with new fixtures and fittings. Our room had a kitchenette, small dining area, sofa, bathroom and mezzanine bedroom. The bedroom area is very compact, with one side of the bed pushed up against a wall and the closet is tiny. The bathroom was spacious enough, but did not have any storage for wash bags, other than the sink and top of the toilet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a car service that takes you to destinations within a mile of the hotel, for free. There are two metro lines in walking distance, the 5 at Greenpoint Avenue that takes you into Brooklyn and the 7 over the Pulaski Bridge, that takes you right into Times Square and 5th Avenue. We chose the hotel because we wanted to see a new area of New York, not just Manhattan Island, and Brooklyn seemed like a good place to stay. Greenpoint has some nice coffee bars and restaurants, although these are often tucked away down side roads so use Google to find them. Downtown Brooklyn itself has some great shopping streets and boutiques that are worth checking out. Whilst Greenpoint is a safe neighbourhood, the streets are dirty with litter, which is off-putting and some parts are very run down, even close to the hotel. Local shopping and amenities are basic. If you wanted high class beauty salons, restaurants and boutiques you would need to go to Downtown Brooklyn

Lovely studio flats in quiet location.Posted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: A home from home, easy access to transport links and free taxi service! all mod cons, dishwasher, pots/pans, coffee maker, hair dryer, air con etc.
Cons: Recycle bins and maybe a little safe in the room for valuables/passports.
Location: Good location in Greenpoint, local shops and bars, 5mins from great views of Manhattan and nearby Ferry port & subway links. Safe area.
Hotel much bigger than expected, additional bar/restaurant on site. Huge studio flats, lovely decor, very quiet even though the area is undergoing a lot of redevelopment. Easy access to tourist locations as well as being able to escape busy Manhattan after a long day out. The nearby East river ferry offers a welcome alternative to the subway, ideal for Brooklyn bridge/Battery park. Very helpful and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again, check in/out super easy.

Perfect Stay in BrooklynPosted Sep 16, 2015
Pros: The size of the rooms is nice with more of a feel of a small apartment vs a small square hotel room. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Cons: Sometimes the front desk was a bit slow and that's being picky. My Eggs Benedict in the restaurant were a bit over cooked.
Location: Pretty easy to get to Manhattan. Brooklyn has some fabulous restaurants like Delaware & Hudson in Williamsburg! Also Semilla and of course Paulie Gee
We stayed at "The Box" for a week and it was a perfect place to stay. It is as easy walk to the 7 train and if you don't want to walk the free shuttle is wonderful old Checker Cabs and a nice SUV will get you there or anywhere else in Brooklyn, Williamsburg or Long Island City. The Staff is friendly and helpful. The new attached restaurant/bar is a nice bonus. The rooms are so much larger than normal NYC rooms and for the price it's a great value!

Prima familie-hotel dichtbij ManhattanPosted Sep 12, 2015

visiting the familyPosted Sep 9, 2015
The hotel is beautiful. When you first walk in you think I could live here. However when you try to get your shower, you find no place to hang your robe, no place to set you shampoo.(Yes, the shampoo and shower gel are supplied but I prefer to use my own.) We had an issue with the light in the bedroom at night. The glass wall and loose fitting blinds allowed the street lights to light the room as if it were daylight. Perhaps a drape would help. The Classic Taxi is really nice. The drivers were very courteous and knowledgeable.

Flott designet hotell i kult områdePosted Aug 6, 2015
