Beautiful 2-bedroom apt. at the Seine, opposite Le Marais, close to Bastille

This is the apartment you are looking for: large (93m2) and beautiful, located in the city center -- steps from the Seine -- with all the creature comforts that you could desire. This meticulously-kept apartment is located on the 1st floor (2nd floor American) of an elegant "Hausmannian" building dating from the end of the 19th century. The tall windows of the living and dining rooms open onto the Boulevard de la Bastille, with a lovely view of the boats in the marina. The bedroom windows overlook a quiet private garden belonging to the building. The large floor-to-ceiling tiled bathroom boasts a 1m2 shower and large bidet; the separate WC is bright and comfortable (see photos).

Located a few steps from the Place de la Bastille (not far from the Place des Vosges) in one direction, from the Gare de Lyon in another, the Jardin des Plantes / Gare d'Austerlitz in another, and finally just across from the Marais, you will have Paris at your feet! (And a very comfortable place in which to rest those feet at the end of a long day exploring the City of Light.)

Layout: the spacious entrance is the heart of the apartment, and leads to the salon, the large dining room, the two bedrooms, the bathroom, the kitchen (which is also accessed from the dining room) and the separate WC. The apartment can sleep 5 or 6 for short-term rentals; 4 persons are maximum for long term.

There are two beds (160 cm and 140 cm wide, respectively) plus a sofabed in the salon.

Equipment: full-size dishwasher, brand new German clothes washer and separate dryer, new electric oven with gas hobs, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, and every piece of kitchen equipment you could ever want. Extremely fast Wi-Fi, cable TV, iHome, 2 Hi-Fi stereos, a printer/copier/scanner, and a portable air conditioner [cools one room only]. The house phone provides free calling to all landlines in Western Europe and to *all* telephones in North America and France.

Beautiful apartment , Best location !
Laura is a great host. The apartment is as described. All the amenities you need are provided. We had to work a couple days and there were no issues with the internet. Ideal location to walk to Le Marais, Latin Quarter and great restaurants close by. Gare the Lyon is about 10 minutes walk. There is a Metro station 2 minutes walk. The communication with the host was amazing and responded quickly. I will definitely stay there again next time I come to Paris.

Like home away from home
This is a lovely, well-equipped apartment. We stayed there for 2.5 weeks with our 12-year old and it was like a home away from home (2 adults, 1 child). The location is so convenient, just a short walk to three different metro stations, tons of restaurants and shops nearby. The Bastille and Aligre markets are both walking distance away, as is the Jardin des Plantes, the Coulée verte; the Marais is not far either. The kitchen is well-equipped, bedrooms are quiet, common space is roomy and comfortable. The apartment is on a busy street, so there is some traffic noise- it's a busy city after all. But the great location and view of Canal Saint-Martin makes this apartment hard to beat!

Wonderful week in the heart of Paris!
If you want to stay in a beautiful, French apartment close to the metro and great restaurants and cafes, this is an amazing find. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well-equipped with all you would need to cook. (We didn’t cook-we ate out!) It felt like home away from home. Laura was a great host and gave us very specific instructions on how to use the keys, the shower, the washer, and more. It was a quiet, safe place and I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Apt. in the 12th!
We absolutely loved this Apt.! It's not a rental, it's a home away from home, and it starts with the owner. She was an absolute joy to work with, fantastic communication. She wants you to enjoy Paris as much as you want to enjoy Paris! The location for us was perfect, far enough away from the tourist centers but close enough to walk into the Latin Quarter and St.-Germain. Well positioned for using the comprehensive Paris Metro. Line 5 is steps from the apt. We could use it to connect to Bastille and Austerlitz. Gare Lyon is a 10 min walk. Had no problem using the RER or Metro the entire stay. The apt. is late 19th century. High ceilings and large airy rooms. Tall windows front and back are perfect to let the breeze flow through. We enjoyed leaving the window in front open to listen to the street noise of Paris. Quite with the windows closed. Gourmet kitchen well stocked with anything you would need. Large shower in the bath, and a separate water closet. The beds were large and comfortable, we slept like rocks. The neighborhood was safe and had a very local Paris feel, not touristy at all. The apt. is very secure. The Bastille is about a 10 min. walk along a canal and has a good number of cafes and shops. We enjoyed walking over to Boulangerie MAISON LETISSIER to get croissants and baguettes. The apple turnover is a must. If this place is available the next time we come to Paris, it's the 1st place we're looking to stay.

Peaceful and spacious
Peaceful and lovely stay in this bright and comfortable apartment close to the Bastille, the Seine, and the canal. This is truly someone’s home, not a sterile commercial space. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, laundry was very convenient, and there’s plenty of space. It was easy to walk and bike everywhere from the apartment—there is a Vélib across the street and métro close by. It is not a touristy area; the very immediate vicinity does not have many of the type of shops tourists are looking for, but they are not far and you can get everything you need within a few minutes walk. Laura was especially warm, helpful, and communicative. By the time I left, I felt like a local!

Great apartment as a base for Paris explorations
The Apartment: the apartment is nicely furnished, and as described. Despite the heat, with careful use of the outside shutters, you can keep the apartment reasonably cool. The apartment is close to local transport options, within an easy 2 minute walk of the nearest Metro Station (Quai de la Rapée) and about 9 minute for the next closest (Bastille) as well as near some convenient bus lines. The central Paris tourist hotspots are about 30-45 minutes away. There are local markets and bakeries within easy walking distance. The water is quite drinkable and tastes fine. The linens were clean and plentiful. With the front windows closed, the street noise is pretty much unnoticeable. In all, a great base for Paris explorations. It was nice to have a fully working kitchen and laundry. The building feels safe and is mostly quiet. The Host: Laura was an excellent host with great communication both before and during our stay. My tip is: read her “cheat sheet” to get the most out of your time there. For when you are not using public transport, download the G7 app for taxis and create an account – they are cheaper than Uber and usually quicker to arrive. My other tip (not really to do with the apartment) is bring good walking shoes. In Paris, you’ll be doing a LOT of walking, and if you don’t have good shoes, your feet will suffer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can recommend the apartment, and particularly Laura as host.

Central, Well Set-Up, Airy and Bright, Great Host
Central: The apartment is so great and so well connected. You're so close to the RER A and C (for Versaille and Disney), I feel like anywhere along the Seine on the rive gauche has a direct bus, and of course the metro itself has so many great lines so close that have gotten us everywhere else, usually with no switching. It's also a walk from Gare de Lyon, which was clutch for us coming in by train. Well set-up: It's great for cooking, eating (hello an actual dining room!), relaxing, piano playing, reading, everything. It's very comfortable and a great size. Airy and bright: On one side, there's the canal, and on the other side is the private courtyard. The only thing is that if you need darkness to sleep, then I suggest you bring those transportable suction cup blackout blinds, because it really was sunny in this apartment. Great host: she was very communicative, the check-in process couldn't have gone more smoothly, and she anticipated all questions about laundry (there's both a washer and a dryer) etc. in her guide she gives you. Would highly recommend!

A wonderful find.
We shared Paris with our two eldest grandchildren (16 and 29). We wanted them to experience Paris more as residents than as tourists, but wanted to be near the many museums. This apartment is huge by Paris standards which allowed us to share the property very conveniently. Everything was exactly as listed and the building was lovely and very secure and fairly convenient for being in the 12th Arrondissement. In fact, we were there during the strikes of December, 2019 and were able to easily get around locally by walking and throughout Paris using the Bato Bus service on the Seine. Laura was supper cooperative, informative and responsive -- nothing was left uncovered regarding information about the apartment and getting around Paris. We had very rapid response by e mail and had telephone contact information, but never really had to use it due to Laura's responsiveness. The apartment was super clean, very nicely furnished and fully equipped with washer, dryer and even a dish washer. If you are looking for a wonderful experience and wish to feel like a Paris resident, highly recommend renting this distinctive, roomy apartment.

Ten days in Paris
Our stay at Laura and John’s apartment in Bastille was fantastic. The apartment is very spacious for a family of four with two girls who will not sleep in the same bed. It was very hot for the last few days but utilizing the shutters on the bedroom windows along with opening and closing windows in the front allowed us to keep the space cool. The portable a/c also helped. It’s close proximity to the subway (right across the street) is very handy for travel within the city. Also, being adjacent to the Seine makes for great morning runs. Join the dozens of other runners for morning runs without fighting traffic. The apartment to the Eiffel Tower is about 12km return and you pass many other sites before that. The apartment has everything you need to make it great stay in Paris. Laura was much more than helpful answering our questions and forwarding articles before we arrived to help with our trip. I would high recommend the apartment for stays in Paris.

Old Paris Charm
This place is an ideal location. If you're up for walking this is a great way to see Paris. However, there is transportation conveniently located within steps of the apartment. Bastille is a town filled with much to do. Market days on Wednesday and Thursdays and is about a 15 Minute walk. There is shopping, restaurants and disco's in Bastille. Just around the block you have more restaurants and grocery story. The Apartment and Laura the Host were both amazing. Her welcome was heart felt. The street off the apartment is busy so if you are looking for peace and quit when the windows are open than think twice. However Paris is a city that is lively and if you are going on holiday than when in Rome or should I say Paris! We absolutely enjoyed our stay, we loved the location, Laura, the apartment and the restaurant right below. We are from a small rural town and the atmosphere was part of the experience. I really can't say enough about the person and place. If you are looking to fit in like your a local this is definitely the apartment and location for you. Laura accommodated us with essentials that got us on the right track. When ever we go back to Paris this is going to be my home away from home. Thank you Laura for foreseeing our needs and being ready to assist in any need we had.

VRBO at a whole new level!
The apartment was very spacious & is walking distance to restaurants, train station, metro & bus stops. The neighborhood was quiet. Laura, the owner was very friendly & hospitable. Wonderful location and comfortable place
The apartment was perfect for us and our two grown daughters. Every kitchen appliance and amenity was available (including a full range of spices!), and there were plenty of towels, linens, and bathroom amenities. The rooms were quiet, and the living and dining rooms were very comfortable. Bus stop was 2 blocks away, two Metro stations were very close, and the Gare de Lyon was a 10 minute walk. Every morning we ran past Notre Dame, which was only a mile away. We even walked there for a Christmas Eve organ concert. We felt right at home and I would highly recommend Laura's place. I looked at a huge number of places on line and this one is a unique gem!

Beautiful, spacious, clean, secure apartment
Laura's apartment is beautiful, spacious, with wonderful amenities, and is very secure. Laura is a gem -- extremely responsive to our needs in spite of a nine hour time difference. She even arranged for our taxi the morning of our departure. The only reason we didn't award five stars is location. If you prefer to be in the middle of things, a few steps from boulangeries, shops, etc., this location may not be for you. That said, we were brief walks from all those things, plus a Batobus river cruise pick up point, the La Marais shopping district and more. Not related to staying at Laura's apartment -- do a Segway tour!! So much fun.
