“The perfect, small, dry cabin.”

“The location of the Bear Necessities cottages is rural and quiet, yet close to town. Our cottage, though small, was clean and comfortable with a good shower. There is no air-conditioning, which is typical in Alaska. Heat was provided by a diesel heater. This was a little unusual, but we got used to it and it worked fine. No complaints. Would easily stay here again.”

“The check in process and communication with the owner was a breeze. Thanks Cynthia. One thing that bothered us were light switches which felt like we were puzzles to find them. There is a plank sticking out on the floor in the room downstairs that hurt a family member so bad that he was bleeding. Please consider fixing that to avoid future accidents. Also please have a sign in the bathroom to turn on water heating using the switch in the room prominently displayed. Some of us are new to this and……

“Location was nice and secluded. Quiet. Clean bedding. There was a musty mold smell that wasn’t very pleasant, the silverware drawer was mildewy and fell apart when we opened it. But overall this was a decent stay for the price and location. Just need to figure out the mildew and moisture issue.”
