"Very nice hotel and the best staff"
The hotel is very nice. Located next to Playa de Carmen shops and clubs but very quiet. They have the best service, staff was always willing to help you. Food and drinks were excellent. Many choices of food to choose from and all delicious.

"Good Hotel with decent staff. Nothing over the top"
Went with 10 family members. When we arrived we had to wait 1 hour just to get checked in. With kids and parents, after a long journey, it was very long as we really wanted to go to our room and change/unwind. Staff was not the nicest either. Nothing extremely mean but wished they were more friendly. Food was OK. The buffet at breakfast was defiantly the best our of all meals. The wait times and dress code were hard to comply with for us. There was a gap between an hour around 5PM where it was hard to eat. With kids - made it a little difficult. Pools were good. Service at pools were excellent. Beach was decent. Calm enough to swim. They advertise kayaks and snorkels but both were below par. Snorkels were limited - only 3 to rent for the whole resort. Snorkeling around there was not worth it. They had kayaks but never rented out claiming weather but in my eyes the weather was calm and great every day. All in all this was a good place. Most of the comments above were nit-picky.

"Nice resort but the beds..."
I had a great time at the resort, spent most of my time ar the beach side salt water pool. A handful of the restaurants were less than good, the tapa and Italian restaurants were awful. The Brazilian restaurant was amazing as well as mexican and sea side. Staff was very helpful. The rooms were nice but the beds were the worst.

"Incredible Staff - Lifetime memories!"
My family and I visited this amazing resort for two weeks and it was an amazing experience! The staff was incredible! We made life long friends with one of the servers, Abraham and the amazing Chef Fabian. They both worked at the Japanese restaurant. The food was always so delicious and we come from Vancouver, so we are very picky about our sushi. One of the most beautiful things that they kindly did for us, was create a special menu dinner just for us, it was so special!!!!! Our family will never forget that night! But let me tell you about the day that we got invited by the fabulous buffet restaurant manager, to a special event. Only 10 people were invited and our family was so privileged to join, since it created another very special memory! My husband particular loved this event, since they taught us how to create a lovely Spanish dish. We drank wine and cooked together under the Mexican sun, what a memory for our entire family. The outdoor decor was also so lovely we ate together next to the hotel vegetable garden. It was just so pretty! The children talk about our trip daily, but they always bring up the amazing staff! The beach, pool, and hotel rooms where lovey too, but nothing compares to the amazing people that we met and became friends with. We also loved the gym and the spa. It was paradise! The gym had all the equipment that I needed. Thank you Dreams Rivera Cancun for all the memories! XOXOXOX, Lindgren Family

"Use real Juice in your alcoholic beverages!"
We had a great stay - staff was very accomodating. The only thing I was really disappointed in was the alcoholic beverages - anything that required juice or mixer was so artificial and sweet I could not drink it. Please upgrade to real juice - cranberry, orange, grapefruit etc. and it would be nice if you could use real lemon and lime juice.

"Nice Hotel, beach not so much"
The Hotel itself is nice , the food is good, but the beach and the ocean water is not what you would expect from the Riviera Maya. The water is dirty with lots of algae and does not have a nice color

"Exceptional Stay"
8 days, 7 nights in June. The Royal Suites upgrade was well worth it. Stayed in the Riviera section of this resort 5 years ago and would have given it a 4.5 star rating then. Was dubious that the Royal could be much better. But it did not disappoint! I would recommend either of the options.

Resorts include adults-only suites with views of the sea where you can be sure to get some peace and quiet. If you are traveling with your family, you can get all the childcare you need so that you can take some time off. Many all-inclusive Riviera Maya resorts offer babysitters and have a wealth of fun stuff for children to do right in the resort, including free bicycles, surf and boogie boards, tennis, and volleyball. You can find cheap hotels in Riviera Maya as well as hostels that cater to young, and not so young, backpackers.

    The Best Time to Visit

If you have some flexibility in timing your vacation through Expedia.com to one of the all-inclusive Riviera Maya resorts, you may want to visit in the dry season. The best weather is between late November and April. However, as with any vacation destination, the rates at Riviera Maya, Mexico, resorts are typically higher during the peak season. July through August and December through January are the most popular seasons. The rest of the year is considered the off-season and boasts smaller crowds, except for Easter vacation when locals and visitors rush to the beach.

    Historical and Cultural Attractions

The Riviera Maya is also home to some of the most fascinating natural and historical landmarks in Mexico. Two of the top Mayan ruins are the port at Tulum and Chichen Itza. The centerpiece at Chichen Itza is the Kukulkan pyramid as well as walking trails through a complex of Mayan ruins and temples. The famous Cenote Sagrado is also nearby. In Tulum, the ruins are on top of an outcropping that overlooks the sea, providing spectacular views, especially in the early morning.

    Resort Amenities

At the best resorts in Riviera Maya, you can expect excellent amenities, including free Wi-Fi, refrigerators, and bottled water. All hotels offer at least one swimming pool, beach access with umbrellas, and lounge chairs. A Riviera Maya spa will offer full spa treatments, including in-room massages and relaxing rubdowns on the beach after a long day of surfing. Most resorts also offer easy access to golf courses, water sports such as windsurfing, water skiing lessons, skydiving, and eco-tours. Resorts typically house at least one, and sometimes several, excellent on-site restaurants to please even the most discerning palate. Some even have nightclubs and discos. Your suite is like a home away from home with slippers, bathrobes, and DVD players.

    The Mysteries of the Yucatan

The Riviera Maya is in one of the most fascinating natural environments in the world, home to breathtaking cenotes and caves. These natural wonders are created by an underground river that runs the length of the peninsula. The Rio Secreto has seemingly endless rooms and passageways full of stalactites and stalagmites that have transformed it into a magical underground world. The area also offers some of the best scuba diving in the Caribbean with the Cenote Dos Ojos in Playa Del Carmen where certified divers can explore miles of underground rivers and discover hidden caverns. Other sites include statues hidden only to people standing on the shore. Divers can see the monumental underwater museum created by Jamie Gonzales Cano. It contains more than 500 permanent, life-size sculptures of people, which are fast becoming home to the local marine life. If diving’s not your thing, you’re in luck. There is one exhibition that is only for snorkelers.

If a Caribbean vacation is on your wish list, look for resort deals and cheap flights to Riviera Maya. Along with the beautiful, silky beaches and crystal-clear water, you'll experience some of the most fascinating historical and natural wonders in the Caribbean.
