Abbott Lake House-Experience Classic 'Up North' Experience here!

Abbott Lake House
SLEEPS: 8 comfortably
BEDROOMS: 3 (Queen size beds) + basement sleeping (twin daybed + twin trundle underneath)
BATHROOMS: 2.5 (one on each level)
*LAKEFRONT*- On the small Briggs Lake
2 KAYAKS and 1 ALUMINUM BOAT INCLUDED (Kayaks will be put out for renters on Memorial Day and will be removed after Labor Day depending on the weather)
*SANDY BEACH ON PROPERTY

As you enter Huron National Forest and drive through the long, tree lined, gravel driveway leading up to the cottage, you immediately feel a classic "Up North" experience come upon you. As you get away from it all, there is a sense of ease on the forefront of this cottage, which rests on 1 acre with access to the small-7 acre, but private, Briggs Lake in Rose City, Michigan. Pulling onto a nice driveway, you will find the cottage easily accessible, as you have access to the 2 car garage (with opener), which makes unpacking or packing the car very convenient regardless of the weather.

Entering the cottage, there is a convenient area to take off your boots, hang up a wet towel, or just place all your coats together. Through the door, you will immediately be captured by the gorgeous view from the large window across the living room. The view of the small lawn and surrounding trees are ideal when you want to watch your children playing a lawn game. You will also see the ideal space for your family to share meals on the beautiful, wood table, located directly across from the well-stocked kitchen. The kitchen has all your basic necessities, along with a few bonus small appliances, such as a micro-grill and blender. Unlike many vacation rentals, this cottage actually has a dishwasher and air conditioning, although the upstairs bedrooms still get quite warm in the summer. There is basic air conditioning ONLY on the main floor. The upstairs bedrooms are NOT air conditioned

Not only are the kitchen and dining areas on the main floor, you will also find a great living space with a comfortable, large couch for watching your favorite shows on the Smart TV. The main floor also has a wide, comfortable, year-round sunroom. Sit at the table with your laptop as you get caught up on emails from work, or cozy up on the couch with a book on the opposite side of the porch. Watch the snow fall, or your kids play on the beach, all from the comfort of the year round porch. This is ideal for anyone who would struggle getting down the incline to the beach area, yet want to watch the fun. .There is also a bedroom located on the main floor with a queen bed, which overlooks the grassy area. Even though the amenities are plenty and the comfort level high, it's hard to spend much time inside the cozy cottage when there is so much to experience on the outside.

Across the living room are the stairs leading to the 2 upstairs bedrooms, which both have a queen-sized bed. One upstairs bedroom faces the water, while the other faces the woods. Between the 2 bedrooms, there is a small 1/2 bath with a toilet and sink, which is very convenient for those middle of the night trips to the bathroom.
*Remember, even with air-conditioning on the main level, the upstairs bedrooms get quite warm in the summer. The air-conditioning works well on the main floor and walk-out basement areas only.

In the basement, there are 2 additional twin beds, plus a convenient stove and fridge. There are a washer and dryer located in the basement kitchen area as well. On rainy days, bring your family together in the basement and enjoy a ping pong tournament!

The truly unique piece of this Rose City cottage is the experience of feeling connected to nature through the astounding views of both the Huron National Forest and Briggs Lake. There are just so many things you can do in this area: tubing, fishing, kayaking, snowmobiling, ice skate right in the back yard, and golf courses are all not too far away!

Frustrated Event
The cabin was clean, but our grandchildren couldn’t go swimming due to swan’s kept coming on the small beach pooping on the beach making it dirty for them to go down to the lake. The grill didn’t have all burners working and the WiFi kept going into a spin disconnecting a lot where the grandkids 2 hour movie turned into a 3 hour movie. We would not stay at this cabin again.

Great Family Vacation
The Abbott Lake House was fantastic! Our family of 6 enjoyed the large space to spread out, but also were able to eat dinner and play board games around the large dining table. The sunroom was the perfect spot to read and do diamond painting during the day. The kids loved the lake and beach area, playing with sand toys and swimming. The older ones enjoyed kayaking and sitting around the fire. The location was perfect for a getaway, this is a small lake with only 4 houses surrounding it, all on the same side. We met the neighbor, whose large dog roams freely throughout the area. She was very kind and aside from the introduction, we didn't interact again. The dog came over only once, but she did tell us he likes to play in the water with those swimming. We would not have liked that, but didn't experience it. This was a great place for us as we are a blended family with kids aged 8, 11, 16, and 19. It had something for each of them. The only drawback I will mention is the lighting in the bathroom on the main floor. There is a light switch for a light near the toilet and shower but it didn't work. The fan attached did work however and we just brought in a lamp. The basement is outdated, but the pictures show that so we had proper expectations and that was ok with us. We would stay here again!

Perfect getaway
Every summer we go to the UP for a weeklong trip with our ATVs kayaks and fishing poles. This summer we couldn’t make it to the UP, so we chose to stay here. This was an unexpected perfect getaway. The cabin was very well stocked with our needs and very spacious for eight people. The trails in the area were fantastic with many different options. The fishing was so so, but there were a lot of other lakes to go fishing at. We at first thought the lake was just a glorified pond, but found ourselves enjoying it more than we could imagine. It was extremely private and floating out in the middle on our rafts was extremely relaxing. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for these type of accommodations.

A beautiful view and nice house
It is a very quiet and pretty spot. We loved seeing the swans and beavers on the lake. The kitchen was very well equipped. There were plenty of spaces to hangout and eat. The only downsides were the dishwasher did not do a good job and the beds were not comfortable. We would return in the future.

Secluded House on Pretty Lake
Brought my grandkids (ages 2-6) up for 4 days and they had a ball. Small but very pretty lake to swim, kayak, and fish on. A nice beach too. In the middle of the forest with a lot of great places to hike. The cottage is very nice with plenty of room and great views. It was well stocked with everything we needed. We all had a good time and couldn't be happier.

Lakehouse
I loved the house the sunroom was my favorite. It was spacious with many bathrooms. However, I was very disappointed about not being able to swim because the lake needs to be raked. It's just one tiny area that's ok for toddlers. In listing there was supposed to be a hammock which I was extremely disappointed bc I was looking forward to relaxing in a hammock and swimming. My teens loved the kayaks fishing and boat. It was way too pricey for 3 nights and not to be able to swim and having to listen to a house being built next store. When I go out of the city I want peace and quiet. Overall my kids loved it and had a great time so that's all that matters. Thanks for having us forever in our memories.

The kids had never used kayaks before and this turned out to be the perfect opportunity to introduce them. My children ages 4 to 12 had an awesome time in and around the water and for those rainy days there were lots of games. Also, this place rocks for hide and seek. Thank you!

Great house and location - needs a deep cleaning
Loved the house and the lakefront setting. Description was spot on. Basics were clean (sheets, towels, dishes, etc.), but cupboards, window sills, entire basement area - need to be cleaned professionally (we went barefoot in basement and the soles of our feet were immediately black with dirt). Should be easy to fix that issue. Great stay!

Amazing but disappointing...ugh!
Would still return to the property because we really enjoyed the area, but there is much lacking in the area of cleanliness. The rooms upstairs had a strong smell that was manageable but not something you’d find yourself wanting to absorb for long periods of time. The oven was horrendous and looked as though it hasn’t been cleaned in years, so we weren’t able to utilize. The floors were incredible dirty, which left clean socks looking black on the bottoms only after minutes of walking around. The main floor bathroom was the nicest one and had some nice wood finished. The downstairs bathroom was not up to our standards to bathe in and the upstairs bathroom was small but manageable. The lake, the views, and the property was inspiring and scenic. Hopefully with consistent bookings the demand for tidiness will call for action.
