Amazing hospitality and an incredible stay
Our stay at Kruger Shalati was amazing. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. The room was comfortable, clean, and beautiful. Every person we interacted with during our stay treated us with amazing hospitality and provided excellent service. When we first started looking at where we’d stay for a safari, our hope was to find a place that made everything easy and Kruger Shalati did that. From coordinated airport pick up and drop offs, to the two game drives a day, great meals, and great ambiance, Kruger Shalati was everything we hoped for and more. I will highly recommend a stay to my own family and friends.
Our room was not on the train, but we loved it and had no desire to switch.

Amazing hotel. Wonderful location and a really chic room. The staff was amazing and the service was very individualized. We had a private tour everyday with the same guide who was an expert and very informed. The other staff was absolutely lovely and anticipated every need. Get a massage! Lie by the pool. Have a wonderful time.

I loved the resort and the trip. The only thing was that moderately priced alcohal was not included in the all inclusive. Also, cocktails were extra. This left a bad taste since the stay. Premium alcohal okay. Bombay Gin...really?

Shalati train is located in a stunning location, unique view of the Sabi river from carriages is a memory for life. Waking up with the sounds of hippos is amazing. Staff is amazing. Rides are not as good as in other lodges, they pack them with up to 8 people which doesn’t feel much exclusive, unfortunately we got bad weather and they do not offer enough comfort in the vehicles, just provided a very thin poncho and we ended up all wet. food is good and very sophisticated but cooking meats is not their specialty.

We stopped in this property as part of our honeymoon. What an amazing hotel. The hotel is in a stunning location right in the National park with wildlife all around the river. Our room had an amazing view and we loved having our own plunge pool. The food was delicious and our dietary needs were catered for. We attended all the safaris and the whole experience was an absolute dream. We saw so much wildlife and our guide was fantastic and the stop offs with drinks and view was unbelievable. The pool on the train was stunning looking over the river. But we were glad to have our own pool to ourselves at our room. We just wish we could have booked a couple more nights to relax at the hotel as the day is quiet busy with two safari rides out. Highly recommend!

The property itself is beautiful, the train suspended on the bridge is very nicely done. The main problem resides with the safaris, for over $500USD a night I have high expectations for the quality of guides. The hotel used a contract guide that could barely speak english, and had limited to know knowledge of the park or the wild life. Morever he was a reckless driver who nearly crashed into a tree, injured the knee of a fellow passenger with a sudden braking for no good reason. I first reported this situation to the front desk during my stay, they ignored it. The lodge managers were away for a couple days, and they didn't leave anyone to oversee the lodge. On the last day, some fellow guests and myself finally got to speak to the managers, and they more/less shrugged their shoulders at the situation and said they wouldn't use the guide again. Great - that really helps us who already spent thousands of dollars to stay here. Nothing else was offered, and they ran off as fast as they could from our table in the dining room. There were other misc service issues, like the mini bars in the rooms not being refreshed properly but it pales in comparison to the other incompetence at this property. Overall, I would say save your money and avoid this place at all costs. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Beyond my expectations. 6* hotel!!!
This hotel was amazing. I cannot fault it. Food was 5*, i would give it 6* if it was possible. The servers cant do enough. You have your own personal servers for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room was always sparkling clean. Game drives were brilliant. Kruger Shalati doesnt have its own private consession so you stick to the public roads but this did not stop us from seeing so much amazing wildlife and should not put you off coming. We saw Lions, leopard, wild dogs, hyena, kudu, empala, buck, wilderbeast, buffalo, giraffe, zebra. Elephant... the list goes on.... i cant even remember it all. The views are epic from the bridge, you can see so much wildlife from up there... hippo, crocodiles, elephant etc. We stayed in a garden room the first night which was so spacious but had no views of the river. We then moved to a carriage on the bridge which was so much better. The rooms on the bridge were smaller but what they lose in space, they make up for in the views!!! We didnt find them too small though. They were well layed out and had more than enough space. I would 100% recommend staing here!!!

We arrived at Skukuza airport in the early afternoon… picked up by our guide it was a short 5min drive to Shalati. If you are lucky you can see the train on the bridge from the plane! Let me get this out of the way: the check in and check out process was not the best. We were ushered by an impatient staff to fill our paper work and finish lunch on arrival. We were left without hospitality on departure with numerous miscommunications by staff (eg. departure times / park ticket / exit letter etc.) This somewhat blemished what is otherwise an amazing getaway at Shalati. If you want a romantic safari experience look no further; I highly recommend 3-4 night stays. If within your budget don’t think about it… book the train and the honey moon spa package. Bring bathers, some nice evening wear to impress your partner and of course the spirit of love and adventure. From the bridge (yes your room) you can see the big 5 (leopards, elephants, buffalos, lions, hippos) without a drive! This was simply phenomenal. Our guide took us on different routes and short stops through out the Kruger and no game drive will be the same. Everyday Shalati will surprise you with wonderful events and beautiful touches of hospitality. One thing I can share is that they took a photo of my wife and I, then framed it as a gift for us to celebrate our honey moon! We did not want to leave! Note: you will be wined and dined very well prepare to be like a hippo by the end :p

Staying at the Kruger Shalati Train Hotel is one of those unforgettable experiences of a lifetime. The train carriage hotel rooms are like nothing you can experience anywhere else — wall to floor windows suspended above a river with hippos, elephants and water buffalo wandering next to and into the river as it spreads out below you. The food is outstanding. They take into account every dietary request - each of the three of us had a different full menu. Pearl even arranged a birthday celebration, compete with both South African and American birthday songs. But the height of the experience is driving around with a knowledgeable guide to experience all the wildlife in the Kruger National Park. We had both a lion and a leopard walk within 5 feet of our vehicle. We were also taken to one the corner of the park in the south to find rhinos. Our guide, Mishak, knew so much about not only the animals and the birds, but also the lore. Seeing Kruger is a wonderful experience but seeing it while staying in this one-of-a-kind resort is a blessing.

Amazing property, didn't get enough time to enjoy it though. Between two long game drives a day and then long meals times, and needing to be at these things half an hour prior, which was unnecessary in my opinion, we only had very limited time between all this to enjoy the pool and relax etc. Felt too regimented at times so would recommend shorter game drives - the sun doesn't rise until around 630am, and between then and 730am is when we saw the most animals, so no need to start the morning game drive soo early with a 545am wake up call via phone . Otherwise wonderful stay.

Shalati has been a magical break from our life at home. From 5 star dinners (and DESSERTS) to freshly pressed luxury sheets, from spectacular views to charmingly naughty monkeys, from welcoming smiles to bird song serenades, this is an enveloping experience you should treat yourself to! Big hug to my friend Glenda, who cared for us for most of our meals and broadened my tastings of new SA red wines - we were spoiled. My husband and I were fortunate to have our games drives with Nelly. I cannot express my gratitude for his knowledge and grace. We stayed in a Garden Suite and I heartily recommend it !

My stay at the Kruger Shalati was wonderful from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Everyone from the manager Dollen, to the ranger Victor, our server Angel/Angie, and the chef was top tier. They provided exceptional service throughout our stay. Dollen made sure that our stay was enjoyable and that we had everything we needed. Victor was very personable and informative during our game drives. We saw four of the Big 5. And Angel and the chef worked together to make sure that our foods met our dietary restrictions. The food was delicious and there was a pretty good selection to choose from daily. My experience here was so great that I am definitely coming back to stay at this property when I return to Africa.

Nous revenons d’une semaine au Parc Kruger, entre les réserves privées de Sabie Sands et du parc Kruger lui-même, et le Kruger Shalati surpasse tous les autres lodges, son rapport qualité est absolument imbattable. L’idée d’un lodge dans un train sur un pont est déjà plus qu’originale. Les chambres sont magnifiquement décorées, et la vue sur le fleuve du haut du pont est saisissante. La nourriture est excellente est de loin la meilleure que nous ayons goûtée lors de notre séjour. Le personnel est très professionnel et absolument charmant, et notre guide SIZWE pour les Game Drives s’est montré adorable, très attentionné et très professionnel également, il a su nous transmettre toute sa passion au travers des explications qu’il nous a promulguées sur les léopards, lions, éléphants, hippopotames, crocodiles et oiseaux de toutes sortes qu’il a trouvés pour nous. Si vous envisagez de visiter le Parc Kruger, un seul conseil, descendez au Kruger Shalati Train on the Bridge, vous ne serez pas déçus, tout y est fantastique !
