We enjoyed our stay at the Isla Grand. It was a beautiful location. We loved the pools, tennis courts, and volleyball courts. They had all the beach amenities (boogie boards & umbrella/chair, etc) rentals. They had a little hut where they made burgers, chicken strips, hot dogs, etc for convenient meals. They have a restaurant that overlooks the pools and also the ocean (from a distance). We were able to see Fireworks from the restaurant one evening. They have bands nightly. They have a comedian on Thursday nights. Overall, we loved it there. The only downside was that they had vending machines and ice machines that Didn’t work, So we had to go to a convenience store to get waters/gatorades/snacks. Otherwise, I would recommend the Isla Grand for a beautiful beach experience.

The outside areas like the pools, Bars and restaurant were really nice, clean. However the room was not worth what we paid at all, The carpet was extremely dirty and had a horrible smell when you walk in as well as the couch. We also had to kill a few roaches which of course is unpleasant

This review is to help first time visitors: PROS: Great beach access, a bar with a dance floor open until 2am. 11am check out time. Maintenance staff was super friendly and helpful. Pets are allowed. CONS: Paper thin walls - it seemed all rooms were joined to another room with a locked door on the wall. We could hear literally every conversation in the room next to us, among other noises. Rooms were subpar - while our room did have plank flooring and a tile shower, it seemed to have water damage that wasn’t properly taken care of. Our last day of our stay we noticed the sheets were just turned inside out instead of changed and our comforter had a brown stained liquid on it. There isn’t a microwave or stove, but there is a fridge and mini coffee maker. We had 3 roaches in our room also. Resort grounds - the pools were nice but you’re not allowed to take coolers or outside food or drinks, you have to buy from their overpriced tiki huts. They have a “Whiskey Bar” by the pool that didn’t seem to have a very wide variety of whiskeys. They have 2 volleyball courts you have to rent for $10 per hour. There are umbrellas and chairs available for rent for $45/day. We were told you can’t bring pop up tents to their beach. There aren’t any grills so we weren’t able to cook any food but there are 3 “restaurants”. Hotel staff - maintenance 8/10. Front desk staff 0/10. The front desk staff treated us like we were an inconvenience. I was laughed at when I said our room had roaches.

Our family had very mixed feelings about this property. We booked with this resort because of its claims of resort stay amenities. Our rooms were partially updated but the carpet was gross old and there was roaches in the corners behind the beds. The rooms do have a mini fridge but there is NO MICROWAVES. I’ve never stayed at a room with no microwaves, so forget trying to heat up leftovers or make a quick midnight snack. The house keeping each day is just towel changes, so forget coming back to a fresh and vacuumed room. The railings on the patio looked dangerous, there was termite damage and the screws in the corners were stripped and fully exposed so when you would lean on the rail it would give to your weight. The pool was soooo hot, but it is Texas. There was also guards walking around making sure you didn’t take your own food or cooler to the pool. The resort does not provided complimentary chairs or umbrellas to guests on the beach, there is a third party service for that, which charges an arm a leg. When you come back from the beach prepare to line up for the one hose sprayer that is partially working. And if it is working you have to fold the hose to turn it off because the nozzle doesn’t even work. The beach showers also did not work. Also don’t fall for the “kid activities” it’s coloring pages outside in the heat. The pros to this property is the staff, lovely people always helpful. The live music was also always going uplifting the mood. I wouldn’t stay again.

Everything was nice, the location, parking, beach, and even the facilities such as the pool and hot tub, along with other events going on in the hotel. However, when it came to the room, I saw 3 roaches and in the other room I had booked also had roaches. The cleanliness of this hotel isn’t up to date like others, the cracks in between the flooring and drywall gain easy access for these roaches to roam freely in the room. Additionally, our mini fridge didn’t freeze our food properly. Also it should be noted that when booking with Expedia or any third party website you have to pay a hotel fee of $50 with each room when getting to the hotel. Also the maximum amount of wristbands for each room is 4, after that you will need to pay $20 a wristband if you want to swim and do other activities. Overall I will give this hotel a 2.5 star only because of the roaches I have seen and if not that then it would be a 4-5 star.
