Book the Grande instead

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Pros: Book the Grande instead
Cons: The resort was old and in need of repair. The service at the Grande was much better, I suggest the GM pay more attention to that resort
Location: The location was in the hills, it rained everyday a few times a day.
We were a little disappointed with La Toc. The beach is not what you think it is. It is pictured to be beautiful and clear but it is not. The beach sand is thick and hard to walk in, the waves were quite high and hard to navigate through on the shelly bottom (which hurt your feet if you did not have water shoes) and there was a very steep drop once you entered the water. The resort overall was in need of repair, it's old. The service at most of the restaurants was a bit slow, the Italian restaurant was a bit disappointing. It took forever for a glass of wine, didn't get a refill, received food that wasn't ours and no one took our dessert order and were left alone so we got up and left. The following day we met a couple floating in the pool who said take the shuttle to the Grande. We had to wait until 11am to take the first shuttle but once we were on board, we had no idea what to expect. When we pulled into the Grande, it was clear to us where we would be spending the last 5 days of our vacation and wished we had made it there sooner. The view was amazing, the beach was amazing, you could actually snorkel off the beach. The floats in the water were where we spent most of our time. There were two bars, the pool bar and a dry walk up bar. The free water extras were better, the snorkel boat, dive boat and so on. What I would say, if you are looking for that "Caribbean honeymoon" type resort, go to the Grande, spend the money. It is worth it.

Pros: Everything, especially the lush vegetation and foliage mixed with the ocean/beach views.
Cons: Lounge chair availability
Location: Must do: Joe Knows tour. Best time ever. Boat ride down the coast; lunch with a Million $ view of the Pitons. Fun in the volcanic mud baths
This resort is absolutely beautiful. Food is outstanding, staff excellent. My only complaint is the availability of lounge chairs. If you do not sign up for the "butler" service, you must be down at the pool area by 6:00 a.m. if you have any hope of getting seating. Not a problem for me as I am an earlier riser, however, if you are a late riser, good luck getting any available lounge chairs. This is of course, not unique to Sandal's resorts, seems to be a problem at any beach/pool resort. Highly recommend this resort

Pros: The resort was private and very quiet compared to the Grande
Cons: I didn't like the walk to and from restaurants and the rooms, it was all hills.

Nice but overpriced and overrated

Pros: The staff
Cons: See above
First time at a Sandals resort and whilst it was nice enough, there are a few issues we wish we'd known about before booking. The beach is disapointingly small and even more so if the sea is rough - ends up the size of a postage stamp. You'll also have to "fight" the butlers for shade - they get to the beach at daybeak to reserve loungers and more often than not their charges can't even be bothered to pitch up and take their places. Snorkelling is also on the disappointing side - so be warned any budding Jacques Cousteau! Don't be fooled by the numer of bars - they aren't all open at any given time so you may have no option other than the swim-up bar; not a problem if you're a lager-lout wanting to drink your money's worth but if you're looking for civility that's not the best choice. The food was good - if you can find a resarurant that's open (like the bars, they aren't always open every day) and woe betide if you want to visit one of the "reservations-only" venues - unless you had the benefit of foresight to book some time in advance (like before you get there!). The rooms are also a little dated but we understand they may be renovating although we weren't offered a refurbed room. There's also surprising lack of balcony space for most of the rooms so we were one of the lucky ones. That said, the staff were by and large absolutely terrific and will make you very welcome.

The Best All-Inclusive Resort in the Caribbean

Posted Sep 19, 2016
My wife and I stayed at Sandals La Toc, St. Lucia over the period September 13-18, 2016. We considered going to a Sandals in the past, but the cost was prohibitive. Luckily we were able to get a great deal this year and took advantage of it immediately. Everything at Sandals is well thought out and executed. From the free pick up at the airport, to the easy check in and welcome glass of champagne. La Toc is a nice large resort that's not too difficult to get around. It has a nice selection of restaurants to choose from, each serving a nice variety of meals. The Cricketers Pub were our best place on the resort. It opened until 2:00 am and has the best spicy wing's. Special shout out to Jeremiah, a gentle giant of a man, who was excellent in making our experience worthwhile. The other restaurants were also good and it makes sense trying all as it's included in your package. Even better was being able to enjoy the others two Sandals resorts on the island for free. Overall, our experience was great and we already book for next year. Thanks to the Sandals crew!!!

All Inclusive is right

Everyone was warm and treated us well. The food was amazing. Only complaint was the tour companies constantly trying to sell you their tours on the beach and against the wall.
